I could be, but a man can dream right? Considering how much they have been pushing for nostalgia in the story, it's time for them to realize that the true nostalgia is in the old look and colors. It's not about bringing back Future Trunks and Freeza 1000 times, or even introducing a female Broly. Considering how praised Takahashi's art was, it's not entirely a stretch to speculate Toei may hire him or someone else other than Yamamuro to handle the designs for the next Dragon Ball show.Lujin_16 wrote:old sounds, better colors and art???? it seems like yoo are to much on nostalgiaemperior wrote:Super (or a new Dragon Ball show) will come back, stronger than ever. We could get new designs (Takahashi's designs anyone?), old sounds from DBZ, new and better colors and a better schedule which means better episodes, in terms of art, animation, storyboard, writing and direction.
Do you like Dragon Ball and want it to be as good as it can be, and want it to last many years? Then be hyped for this hiatus, because if they play their cards right (and why wouldn't they, considering how insanely popular DB is) then the new show will be the best Dragon Ball show ever. It will build upon all the good Super has done, and it won't be rushed like Super was.
It will be hard to not have a new Dragon Ball episode every week, but that's a price I'm willing to pay to see Dragon Ball coming back better than ever.

They do say "it's not over" in the announcement, which I'm assuming is referring to Dragon Ball as a whole rather than just Super.Black Hawk wrote:Given that Fuji TV has no plans yet for a new series, I'd say this is probably the official end of Super but not the franchise overall. I was just thinking of that. Not necessarily a cliffhanger, but maybe episode 131 will give us a hint on where they're thinking of going next.dbs fanboy wrote: Furthermore, if super ends on a cliffhanger or hinting something big, then it will probably make it's return much more special and full of hype.

Wow, very insightful.Lujin_16 wrote:SirTorra wrote:I'm glad Super is finally ending. It tarnished the legacy of Dragonball more than it helped it. It was a train wreck from start to finish. Hopefully if they do continue it, they take atleast a year after the movie to sit down and write a decent story for once with the proper animation it deserves. It's also time for a time skip. Retire goku and Vegeta and let rhe new generation take center stage. But knowing toei and toriyama that won't happen.

Agreed. I feel confident that a new series in 2019 or whenever wouldn't simply be called Dragon Ball Super; I believe it would be a completely new series separate from Super yet continuing its story to a certain extent, if that makes sense.BlueBasilisk wrote:They do say "it's not over" in the announcement, which I'm assuming is referring to Dragon Ball as a whole rather than just Super.

It would be bad if Vegeta at the end never gets UI despite being foreshadowed in the manga.

Yeah, i kinda knew super was going to end this arc. Once they introduced jiren, as the mortal stronger than a god, stronger than what gokus benchmark was set up to be at the beginning of super, i knew that introducing someone even higher than jiren as an opponent or next antagonist was going to take a looooong time. Lets see where they take it. Definitely not the end of the series as a whole, but it seems to be the end of super for now.

I hope not since I don’t want to wait another two years for the dub to be allowed.Black Hawk wrote:Agreed. That would most likely be an issue, yes, but that's certainly better than no Dragon Ball at all, right?HeroR wrote:I hope not since I don’t want to wait another two years for the dub to be allowed.

Well, at least there's the movie news at AnimeJapan to help take the sting out. Hopefully.

Since Toei and Funi have already tv deal for Super and the Dub has at least another 90 weeks to go, maybe it'll help fast track things for any hypothetical continuation.HeroR wrote:I hope not since I don’t want to wait another two years for the dub to be allowed.

My second sentence is more of my opinion that many other people who understand basic story telling and basic art and animation agree with. How they handled Super was embarrassing. DB already had simple stories and characters. Super couldn't even handle that aspect well. As for the ratings, yea people watched it because it was Dragonball. It had the benefit of having a beloved franchise name attached to it. That's why people watched it, they expected Dragonball not hot garbage. As for the money, how much did Super sell on its own? Characters like hit, black, future trunks, Jiren, and all characters introduced in super, how did they sell? Less than the original characters like goku, vegeta and piccolo thats for sure. Super helped the legacy of DB as much as GT did if not less.HeroR wrote:Right, a series with high ratings, made a ton of money, and got people back into the series ‘tarnished the legacy of Dragonball‘. You know i would be happy if super takes a break or that they make a new series,as long the schedule is consistent for the staff and we won't have retelling of the new movie

I found something interesting there, too, that I think people have over looked: "This site likewise says the new Kitaro series will start in the 9:00 AM Sunday timeslot on April 1st, and that DB's broadcast afterwards is still "under discussion."BlueBasilisk wrote:https://twitter.com/Herms98/status/954086203044675584sangofe wrote:Can someone link to this announcement?

So, I guess this means more DUB HYPE??? (dead silence)
No, but seriously - As a sub AND dub fan, I do appreciate that this hiatus or finale or whatever will give more spotlight to the dub before DB's possible new series. So many dub fans have become sub fans as a result of Super and I'd like to see the reverse happen in the sub's absence. It probably won't for many fans, but hey - There's sure to be some who desperately want to discuss Super on a weekly basis again and the dub will be waiting

Incredibly saddened to hear of the hiatus. Dragon Ball Super up until now has been an imperfect, flawed, but incredibly fun series that I've genuinely enjoyed watching over the last couple of years.
Is it the most technically excellent show? No. Is its original story concepts and overall writing up to the standards of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z? Probably debatable, but also probably no. No one is saying it was perfect. But there are many of us, myself included, who derived enjoyment from the show. I'll be sad to lose it, and I hope it isn't forever.

Chances are they're waiting to see how the new movie plays out to see where to go from there. They'll likely use the movie to jump start a new series.sangofe wrote:I found something interesting there, too, that I think people have over looked: "This site likewise says the new Kitaro series will start in the 9:00 AM Sunday timeslot on April 1st, and that DB's broadcast afterwards is still "under discussion."BlueBasilisk wrote:https://twitter.com/Herms98/status/954086203044675584sangofe wrote:Can someone link to this announcement?

What the hell are you talking about? Current db has even surpassed Gundam in sales, to think that super has brought just a little to this franchise is ridiculous. Also by the way if super's popularity was only due to having the db logo, then explain to me how it has been much more succesful than Kai which was literally Z but with different music and no filler?SirTorra wrote:My second sentence is more of my opinion that many other people who understand basic story telling and basic art and animation agree with.
