Because keeping it active costs them money and they'd eventually end up doing it so they started with PS4, on the plus side you get monthly game rentals (or "Free" games) with the PS Plus membership.Zelvin wrote:I just don't see the need to pay for PS+ when I pretty much can use all the same things on a PS4 as I do on my PC.
That's a given considering PlayStation's more popular amongst Dragon Ball fans.shadd21 wrote:Without a doubt the PS4 version will sell better than the Xbox One version which worries me considering i'm planning to get the game for XB1, hopefully the online in the Xbox One version won't be too barren.
So you'd get to play it on PC? Because if you were thinking it for PS4 then that's like asking for Uncharted on Xbox.DarkPrince_92 wrote:Halo 5... really wish it wasn't an Xbox exclusive.
You've got Destiny on PS4 so that's something (was planning on getting it for PS4 but since there's hardly a story mode to enjoy the game offline it's kinda worthless).

Speaking of consoles I'm going to be getting a PS4 somewhere down the line. I'm just wondering if it's worth getting one yet for Xenoverse or if I'm better off just getting the PS3 version. For any of you guys who have had the chance to play it on both systems already I'd like to ask how much of a graphical difference is there? And also does anyone know if there'll be any content exclusive to 8th-Gen systems?
Re: "Dragon Ball XENOVERSE" (PS4/XB1/PS3/360/PC) Official Th
At this present moment I'd say get it for PS3. As for the graphical differences between xbone and ps4, it will most likely be non existent due to the art style, the release on last gen. The actual differences between the two systems is almost unnoticeable as I've gotten to mess with them side by side but ps4 has a smidge more power in its hardware, but like I said onscreen it's mostly unnoticeable. But that's my experience, you may hear different from others.

I'm no wiz at this, but as he said I feel like you wouldn't notice much difference due to the style the game is made in. If anything, you'd probably only notice in the environments.
It all depends on how soon you plan on getting a PS4. If it'll be a year or two, then just get it for PS3. Then by the time you have a PS4 there will probably be a Xenoverse sequel.

Between PS3 and PS4, you're looking at 720p vs 1080p and 30fps vs 60fps.
If you don't notice that then you need your eyes checked.
30 to 60 should be enough to sell you. That's the kinda stuff that matters.

For your information, I don't notice that and my eyes are fine. HD means literally nothing to me. What matters is the gameplay, the constant obsession with having the highest possible graphics is what gave way to the slew of super pretty, high graphics but low gameplay games we had, like FF13. So no, the FPS and amount of pixels that they can shove on a screen shouldn't be what matters in making a $400 purchase. It's the library of games that should matter. Something both PS4 and Xbone don't have.
Futhermore to solidify my point, Below is an image of the model tv I had growing up since I was 9, I had it till 2010 (Age 20 for me.) That thing made me appreciate just being able to see the picture. Hence why I don't care about how HD something is.

Agree with Voltlunok. When I first got PS3, it was on a standard definition TV. I played Burst Limit on it all the time, and did not care about how "HD" my games looked. As long as I could play it. Then I got an HDTV later on it was like GODDAMN. But yeah, I put game before graphics in terms of importance, every time.

We still don't know about the framerate between the old and current gen tho, they might be targeting 60fps for both. Seeing how this doesn't have Crossplay tho, I'm scared that the last gen is going to run at 30 fps when the Raging Blast games ran at 60.AjayLikesGaming wrote:Between PS3 and PS4, you're looking at 720p vs 1080p and 30fps vs 60fps.

Then you simply haven't experienced enough of it. I cannot put that any more delicately so I'm sorry if that offends you.voltlunok wrote:For your information, I don't notice that and my eyes are fine.
I grew up with equally as shitty TVs (in comparison to modern standards) but that doesn't negate my ability to differentiate between quality and subpar.
Yes, and good gameplay comes from responsiveness and fluidity. That all stems from frame rate.voltlunok wrote:What matters is the gameplay
http://www.30vs60fps.com/
There is no way I believe that someone genuinely cannot differentiate between the two (unless you're running a shitty 24Hz monitor on your PC). One is choppy and one is fluid. As I said, in gameplay that equates to a level of responsiveness and that's especially important in a fighting game.
Regarding resolution:
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/108641
You only have to take one look at Batman or the floor to see the difference in clarity there. Though if your monitor is sub-1080p then this comparison is less useful to you.
I'm not saying graphics matter entirely. Resolution isn't the utmost importance to me but frame rate certainly is. Heck, I have a 120Hz monitor just so I can actually perceive the 120fps that my PC puts out in certain games. That directly affects the gameplay which you and others seem to be describing as the utmost importance.
I don't really care whether this stuff matters to you but let's not pretend that the difference isn't noticeable or that it doesn't matter.
I recommended a PS4 because you are getting noticeably better performance from it this early in its life cycle. That equates to a longer lasting life cycle in the long run. If you're dropping that much money on something then buy a console that's actually worth it (and very clearly where developer focus is this generation). Cross-platform games will always run better on PS4 if developers are doing their jobs properly. That's objectively true based on cold, hard facts.
Neither platform has console-selling exclusives yet, you're right. That's why this stuff is what's especially relevant right now.
But hey, if I had it my way and I was talking genuinely about spending your money efficiently; I'd be recommending PCs and Steam.
The Network test ran at 30fps on PS3. There is absolutely zero chance to pull another 30 from those machines. I will delete my account if it runs at 60 on last gen.Quebaz wrote:They might be targeting 60fps for both

Well I'll most likely be getting a PS4 sometime this year for Batman Arkham Knight and Tekken 7. Those games are still a good while away though and I'm wondering if it's worth putting my PS3 and all of its games aside already just so I can play Xenoverse on PS4. Tbh I'll probably end up getting a PS4 in time for Xenoverse anyway, but I'm just curious if I'd be missing out on much if I decided not to.

The internal resolution of a game is not the same as what outputs to your TV. So while your TV might say 1080p, the game is running at 720 or lower. It just scales up to fill your TV. Here's a list of internal resolutions from last gen.TheGmGoken wrote:
Ps3 is 720p. Mines sat 1080p. Just like my PS4. Or do you mean Xenoverse? Sorry for misunderstanding. Just curious but why is 30 vs 60 such a selling point? I'm not a graphics quality guy. So enlightened me please.
Because rendering resolution affects frame rate, you'll notice the CoD games feature pretty damn low resolutions to aid them in achieving their 60fps goals.
Here's a comparison between 1080p and 4K. The more pixels you have, the more clarity you get from the image.

This helps to eliminate aliasing without the help of demanding AA when you get to much higher resolutions, too.
Regarding frame rate; 30vs60 is important because it dictates how many frames are displaying a second (as the name implies). The more frames you're seeing a second, the faster you can react and the smoother the game looks and feels overall. Not to mention the input latency is greatly reduced which is absolutely vital in any game.
Most consumer monitors and TVs only have 60Hz refresh rate - that is, the TV will only display a maximum of 60fps. Some TVs have interpolated rates such as 240Hz or even 100Hz. This isn't a true refresh rate though. This works through frame blending and other useless trickery that just introduces a whole bunch of horrible input lag that's entirely useless.
PC gamers have the luxury of true 120 or 144Hz monitors which will display frame rates up to that number. This is what many competitive gamers buy as they tend to lower all their settings until they're hitting frame rates above those numbers. This gives them the best responsiveness and fluidity possible.

I think and this may have been my lack of detailed wording. You don't get what I mean. I can see it fine when it is set in a comparison like this, where it is the only thing you can focus on. But in the middle of gameplay, when crud is goin on around me all over the place? No I don't notice framerate at all. I also believe I don't notice it cause I put zero emphasis on it.AjayLikesGaming wrote:Yes, and good gameplay comes from responsiveness and fluidity. This could be a sign that across the board the game will run at 30FPS. Making it a fair field for everyone. But that's just my guess. Most likely it ran at 30FPS cause it was the network test and that was an early, early stage of xenoverse we got to play in.AjayLikesGaming wrote:The Network test ran at 30fps on PS3. I'm not arguing you're wrong, you have fair points and in fighting games I agree frames are important, I wouldn't be a great Makoto player in blazblue if I didn't learn that. But I don't think FPS should be a selling point for a console that has barely anything to it right now. Why spend $460 when you can just spend $60? Heck if it were up to me I would just have everyone buy the steam version. It will probably gameplay wise be the best version. But people love having those physical copies of their games so...it's a dealbreaker I guess.

The next-gen versions demoed have all been 60fps at every single presentation. There's no parity between last-gen and next-gen nor should there be.voltlunok wrote: This could be a sign that across the board the game will run at 30FPS. Making it a fair field for everyone. The network test was certainly an early build but there's no amount of optimisation that can pull an entire extra 30fps out of those consoles. It's just not possible on such aged hardware.
I understand your point but he wasn't asking whether to stick with last gen or next gen. He wanted to know whether to go with PS4 or Xbox One and I gave my answer based on performance alone. Which, to me, is extremely important over anything else. But I don't think FPS should be a selling point for a console that has barely anything to it right now. After that, someone was speaking about noticeable differences and I, rather abrasively, explained the clear-cut differences between the versions.
If the question had been 'Should I hop over to next-gen for this game?' then my answer would have been very different. I'd have questioned what next-gen games he was interested in and how seriously he planned to take this game or what mattered most to him when it came to gaming.
When it comes to PS4 vs Xbox One, I'm always going to recommend the console that makes the most sense to me. No number of exclusives will ever replace the greater number of cross-platform games running better on the PS4. Performance is the utmost importance to me.

That was me speaking from experience with both next gen systems. Which from my standpoint the difference is almost ignorable. PS4 has a smidge more power and that's really all it has going for it right now. Some blow that smidge up to 'OH MY GOD THE DIFFERENCE IS THE SIZE OF THE GRAND CANYON!' when it's really not. Specially since this gen is basically hitting the peak of graphical performance and won't go any higher without new versions of the machines being released. Hell if it was an option? I would say get a Wii U version. But sadly that isn't an option...Poor Nintendo. You have the best library right now and you're mostly being ignored...After that, someone was speaking about noticeable differences and I, rather abrasively, explained the clear-cut differences between the versions.
