DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!

Hey guys. I don't suppose someone could do me a favor and post as much of SSJ2 Gohan vs. Cell as they'd be willing, would they? Some say that the yellow outlining are clear indicators of different states of SSJ, but from some other examples I've seen, it doesn't seem as though that's necessarily the case. So I'd just really like to see how consistent the yellow outlinings are on Gohan.

In Viz's Shonen Jump podcast they said that there's "only a few more chapters" of Full-Color DB left until it's "time for something new." They cited chapter 51 as the end. I haven't been following this super closely, but the full-color volumes are through the Freeza Arc right? The English Shonen Jump chapters are just now wrapping up Goku vs. Vegeta, so it sounds like they aren't going to go that far!

So, Japanese Jump magazine's order is more-or-less arranged by popularity polls. I've never seen it stated that the English surveys reflect Viz's Jump series order, but I've wondered if that's so because the big series like Naruto, One Piece, Bleach are often towards the front. Pretty consistently since the beginning the full-color DB chapters have been dead last. All of this seems to point towards full-color DB not being very popular with Jump readers. I vote every week, and I never vote for DB, I'm sorry to say. It's one of my favorite series, but the Saiyan Arc is one of my least favorite parts, I frankly don't like the color artwork very much, and I'm much more excited to read things I've never read before in Jump. It makes me a little sad because when full-color DB debuted in Jump there was a question on the survey along the lines of "Would you like to see more classic series serialized in Shonen Jump?" To which I would say "YES!" if it were something I hadn't read before. I love to see classic series get more of a chance in English, but this just doesn't seem to be the right fit.

Now, I do still think there's some good potential for sales of the print volumes of Full-Color DB. Hopefully that will reach the fans who want it.

It could just be they don't want to run the entire franchise in the magazine, and want to get the volumes out faster.

They started airing Dragon Ball at the start of Jump, but never finished running it completely despite starting with new manga material (they stopped before the Buu Saga).

I doubt that's an issue.

It's OK. I just have the rest of the Battle of Gods material that I've been neglecting, plus all those Kai interviews that are suddenly relevant again, on top of lots of stuff from old guidebooks, and tankōbon, etc. etc. and I was planning on visiting the Prefecture Central Library on Thursday for a date with piles of old Jump issues....

Same here. I'm preparing for the Buu saga of Kai by...rewatching Kai! Anyways the updated news bodes well for Viz releasing the full DBZ series in color so I'm quite excited. It's a great time to be a DB fan.

I don't think so. Why would they? It seems it was a conscious decision to have him be middle-term between Buu pink and Gray Buu's Gray.

Absolutely. I actually feel the English release is just about superior this time.





So, I guess the "Z" part of the full-colour edition will be 20 volumes long, one less than the kanzenban release.
