The game looks good, fluid. But allow me to use a sports analogy for Dragonball gaming. DBZ games are like your favorite sports team with a ton of talent that can never win a championship. And Dimps is like the veteran coach who can get the best out of the team, but still cant win on the biggest stage.
I wish I could be as excited as everyone else that Dimps is designing the game, but bottom line is that it's the same old story with improved graphics. How long are they going to continue to rehash fighting games with the same basic mechanics and the same old story? Yes, this may have some twist to it, but I'm no longer excited longer about cut scenes from a story I've seen a million times.
It is amazing to me that a series that has a ready made fan base with unyielding support just can't get it right.
DBO was on the right path; it had an amazing story that extended beyond the DBZ world we know of today. It was something new, and yet somehow they managed to screw it up. I'm not saying the game is going to be bad, It actually looks good in these early stages. But Dragon Ball has such a vast amount of content to build on and they can do so much more than just fighting games.
Maybe it's personal preference because I'm just not the biggest fan of firing games, but I want to see something truly different.
This really looks just looks like an enhanced version of the same stuff we've been getting for years. I've always felt that a MMO was the best way to go with this franchise, but with DBO dead, we'll probably never see this series truly maximize its potential.

I like how characters can do acrobatic jumps, so awesome.
Yeah, I was wondering where the damage was when Goku blasted Cell with a Kamehameha!

I feel like the basic Kamehameha 'wave' could use more work to be more visually appealing, it looks like a freezee to be honest.
Stoked for the game, it's going to be amazing, RGB3!

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less about the fans a re-issue might alienate because if all they're concerned about is being able to scalp the people who were either unaware of the Dragon Boxes or couldn't afford them at the time, they're just leeches and deserve to have their greed backfire on them.

Am I the only one surprised they didnt call it "Dragonball Z-noverse"?

My thought's exactly. Honestly 43 or 40 characters is fine with me, I don't need 150 characters. That would be fun though. Anyways, I just hope GT characters will be included. Just put the main characters from GT like Kid Goku,SSJ4, GogetaSSJ4, Vegeta GT, Vegeta SSJ4, Uub, Pan, Trunks GT, Goten GT, Gohan GT, Baby, Super 17, Omega and Nuova Shenron.sintzu wrote:How many charecters do you all think this will have ? We may have seen this basic format done to death but how many of the incarnations actually worked? How many of the older games in this format were ever good? Most of them except for BT2/BT3 were utter garbage, so its hard to say I'm sick of something done before if they were never done right to begin with. Spike was killing the franchise with their inability to improve on anything they did, and for the last 5 years had just been making disappointment after disappointment. Then UT happened. It was clear that they got lucky with BT3 and it shows. If Dimps at least makes ONE good Simulator on Current Gen then maybe it would be necessary to finally move away from it. It has to be done right first though.dualist wrote:I wish I could be as excited as everyone else that Dimps is designing the game, but bottom line is that it's the same old story with improved graphics. In terms of story, its basic knowledge it will always be the same because whenever they change it will always either get on people's nerves or just suck with horrible writing or bad presentation. Theres honestly not much they can do with it unless they started making the games off CaC and Heroes, which I personally would like.
Yes, I really wouldnt want BoG hype to replace GT just to support the gimmick because GT in the games wasnt ever an issue for anyone.cesarcoronel07 wrote:My thought's exactly. I just really hope we get 1v1 Boss fights, set up like BOZ but using the current engine. That would be nice.
TBH I always prefered Dimp's Goku, they made his hair more accurate and always had. Where as Spike in Raging Blast had given him a weird round face, huge eyes, and banana-spikes. Bleh. Dimp's Goku's spikes were also a bit longer and more erect than Spike's droopy ones. Not to mention the grey-highlights on Goku's hair was always done better with actual detailed shading, not just lighting effects. Spike's Goku never looked good on current Gen.jjgp1112 wrote:Yeah, definitely Dimps. Their Goku design was always pretty distinct. They always make his hair more narrow and give him a prominent jaw.
Thats probably the most detailed Piccolo I've ever seen. His skin is the right colour as well for the first time.DarkPrince_92 wrote:Bruh!!! SSJ3 Goku look amazing
EDIT: They also got Krillin's eyes right.
Super Buu's teeth.... Never seen them on his model until now. Wow.
Though I never noticed Kid Buu's narrow jaw. Its not a problem but Spikes seemed to look more closer to the anime with the square jaw.
That picture of Cell. Looks amazing. His skin is also finally the right Colour, I always felt Raging Blast made him too yellow-lime green as opposed to just neon green. They also made him a bit Shiny in Raging Blast but both equally good models.
Spike's CG Backgrounds were terrible, they never looked at all looked seamless with the character models, it was like fighting with action figures in your backyard.DarkPrince_92 wrote:Uhhh, no they don't... They are bulky, and there are broad lines on their textures, and the environment is cel shaded (for whatever reason) I'll give you that, but Artdink models look disgusting. Nappa looks like Nappa in this game. He'es probably the best looking character I've seen so far, then Kid Buu. Also, it says it's developed by Dimps. Should've known it was Dimps from all that motion blur...IGhostUlt wrote:its meh. Looks like Artdink models
If this is developed similar to Burst limit I hope Nappa and Recoome retain their enormous sizes in those games. I hated how tiny they were in Raging Blast and BOZ.

Guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back? Making DragonBall games?
DIMPS is back! I'm hyped like hell!
The gameplay looks alpha as hell, no voiceover and stuff, the AI doesnt' block and it's probably only showing off some features of this game.
Now into stuff of this game.
1: General gameplay
At first I thought it was going another Spike game from gameplay footage in the trailer, but reading, that DIMPS is making this game, and seeing this one gameplay video, I can say that I'm happy to be wrong this time. It's look like that DIMPS is attempting the DBZ simulator gameplay from the Sparking! and Raging Blast series and still have varied unique close combat options for each character. So far, I like the execution of the gameplay.
2: Movement
God, the movement is soo godlike in this game. Although normal movement speed is somewhat slow from what I see, the dashes looks fast as hell. Also some stuff like running and swimming are nice cosmetic stuff, it looks pretty good. These backflip, flipjump and sidestep animation looks nice.
3: Close combat
The close combat just feels like DBZ animation wise. Flashy quick strikes and hard hits. The moves of Kid Boo and SSJ3 Goku already looks different, I was seeing Boo using stretching arms. Combo wise and of movelist wise, I'm gonna wait, how diverse DIMPS is making the melee movelist.
4: Supers/Ultras/Special
It seems that we have some special moves, like Goku's Kamehame-Ha, which looks like to have somestartup animation, if not cancelled into and also dont cost meter/Ki. Looks generic, feels generic, but hey, it'd DBZ. Then there seems also to be a SUPER move like Goku's Chô-Kamehame-Ha, which looks GLORIOUS btw. These kind of Super Attacks eats meter from what I see. Now I'm waiting how Dimps is doing close combat Supers and Ultimates. Also there seems to be 4 slots for special moves at least.
5: Meter
Looks like we can't charge Ki, yet. I hope we can charge Ki and DIMPS is not neglecting it. Look at HYPER DBZ, Ki-charging here is totally balanced and has certain risks. but Dimps is operating on a 3D plane and the stages are much larger in comparison of 2D fighters.
Also looks like we gain meter the oldschool way, aka hit or getting hit (aka SF4, BB, UMvC3, KOF, SCV and stuff). Also there seems to be a hitstun/blockstun escape system (aka vanishing), which uses an entirely different meter than the Super meter (I'm looking at you, CC2 and your Naruto games).
6: Graphics
WELCOME BACK, BAASUTO RIMITO! Backgrounds looks good, stages looks good, character looks good in motion. I can't complain.
My body is ready, I'm hyped for the game!!!! Now only need a Kageyama vocal opening and I can die happily :3

Looks like Budokai 3 meets Battle of Z. This game could go either way, so I hope for the best. I will try to stay positive and will say that the game looks good so far. I will be getting this game along with MGS5, MKX and Doom 4 on the PS4.

Things I like from what I've seen:
-The models look pretty good, they seem well proportioned and the animations seem very fluid (apart from the swimming but I imagine most of these things will be ironed out).
-The maps shown look very promising, I'm looking forward to seeing just how far the stage-destruction can go this time around, it's something I'm always looking for in DB games.
-The potential for a new storyline, as much as I enjoy the original story, I would much prefer to try something new, and this 'mysterious youth' seems to give some hope of that.
-The fighting looks very fluid, very fast, and very much like the anime. I'm hoping for simple controls and complex combos here.
Things I do not like from what I've seen:
-The textures don't seem as sharp as they should be, the quality seems inconsistent in certain parts of the map and character models, for instance the heavy black lines on the characters, hopefully this is simply because it is demo footage or bad compression.
-I'm not a fan of the appearance of the mysterious stranger, as many have said he looks like he just stepped out of a bad fanfic, though I will try and reserve judgement until it is revealed who he is and what he is there for.
-I'm not seeing much new, I don't expect a lot from a demo but I'd have liked to have seen more than just Goku fighting Freeza, Cell and Buu. I'm sure more information and characters will be revealed closer to the time though.
All in all my main gripes are ones which could well be non-existent come release day, I'm curious to see what this 'new' style of gameplay is going to be, and unfortunately there is a cloud of cynicism surrounding my curiosity. It's hard to not be excited, and not to think 'Oh, they're going to get it right this time, won't they?'', especially when the last game I truly enjoyed playing in the franchise was Budokai 3. But here's to hoping!

Hey all, new to Kanzenshuu, but I've posted on the DBG for years. I'm really hyped about DBXV and I'm loving what we've seen so far.
I have a theory on created characters, IF they are even in the game. Instead of the red haired guy being the created character, our created characters would come from his universe. Nothing ground breaking, just a theory. We may not even get CaC.
Also, I have a decent prediction of a realistic roster list. Any thoughts?
1. Goku (Base, Kaioken [seems to be a transformation?], SSJ, SSJ2, SSJ3, SSJG)
2. Vegeta (Base, SSJ, ASSJ, SSJ2)
3. Kid Gohan
4. "Teen" Gohan (SSJ, SSJ2)
5. "Adult" Gohan (SSJ, SSJ2)
6. Mystic/Ultimate Gohan (Though Dimps has made him a transformation before)
7. Goten (SSJ)
8. Kid Trunks (SSJ)
9. Future Trunks (SSJ, ASSJ, USSJ)
10. Vegetto (Base, SSJ)
11. Gogeta (SSJ)
12. Gotenks (Base, SSJ, SSJ3)
13. Piccolo
14. Krillin
15. Tien
16. Yamcha
17. Chazou
18. Future Gohan (Base, SSJ)
19. Uub
20. Hercule
21. Videl
22. Raditz
23. Nappa
24. Saibaman
25. Dodoria
26. Zarbon (Base, Monster)
27. Guldo
28. Recoome
29. Burter
30. Jeice
31. Captain Ginyu
32. Nail
33. Freeza (First Form, Second Form, Third Form, Final Form, 100%)
34. Mecha Freeza
35. Cooler (Base, Final Form)
36. Meta Cooler
37. King Cold
38. Android 16
39. Android 17
40. Android 18
41. Android 19
42. Android 20/Dr. Gero
43. Cell Jr.
44. Cell (Imperfect, Semi-Perfect, Perfect, Super Perfect)
45. Broly (Base, SSJ, LSSJ)
46. Dabura
47. Fat Buu
48. Evil Buu
49. Super Buu (Base, Buutenks, Buuhan)
50. Kid Buu
51. Janemba (Fat, Slim)
52. Beerus
53. Whis
54. Red Haired Guy
55. Bardock (Base, SSJ)
55 seems like a realistic number. Fat Janemba may not be in, if Janemba is even in. I could see some of the names I listed not making it. Any thoughts? I'd prefer some DB/GT with some guys like Android 13 and Bojack, but 55 characters is plenty. We could always get more in a hypothetical sequel.
I have a theory on created characters, IF they are even in the game. Instead of the red haired guy being the created character, our created characters would come from his universe. Nothing ground breaking, just a theory. We may not even get CaC.
Also, I have a decent prediction of a realistic roster list. Any thoughts?
1. Goku (Base, Kaioken [seems to be a transformation?], SSJ, SSJ2, SSJ3, SSJG)
2. Vegeta (Base, SSJ, ASSJ, SSJ2)
3. Kid Gohan
4. "Teen" Gohan (SSJ, SSJ2)
5. "Adult" Gohan (SSJ, SSJ2)
6. Mystic/Ultimate Gohan (Though Dimps has made him a transformation before)
7. Goten (SSJ)
8. Kid Trunks (SSJ)
9. Future Trunks (SSJ, ASSJ, USSJ)
10. Vegetto (Base, SSJ)

24. Saibaman

Re: "Dragon Ball: Xenoverse" (PS4/XB1/PS3/360) Official Thre
A few things...
1. The gameplay looked better than the trailer.
2. What happened to our thirty minute segment.
3. I love that characters swim underwater.. Sometimes It's the little things guys.
4. I'll download the demo on PS3 and buy the game on PS4 lol.
