Yeah, i don't know how to NOT call it a retelling. Unless one expects they're rehashing the exact same plot from the movies line by line or skipping them altogether while leaving the tv audience lost and confused.

If it is a retelling of BoG and "F" then way does Toriyama say this when describing the Universe 6 arc "I’ve written a strange new story where they finally depart from this universe" keyword being new.

He's describing the universe 6 arc that follows the retellings. We get a new take on the events of the movies, as well as something completely new.

"It’s got a bit of post-battle aftermath, continues with the “Battle of Gods” arc where the God of Destruction Beerus appears and the “Revival of ‘F'” arc where Freeza comes back to life, and then, I’ve written a strange new story where they finally depart from this universe. "

Because the new story comes after the F arc... he says so himself...

That's my point he only refers to the Universe six arc as new if BoG and "F" were new complete retellings why didn't he refer to them as such?

I'm curious to see if Gohan will be SSJ or Ultimate in the BoG arc. I think they're just opting all SSJ. Whatever.

And this is Toei we're talking about, the guys juggling with 36 projects at the same time and trying to spare themselves as much efforts as possible to make it all work with all of their on-going stuff, regardless of consequences as long as it makes it easier to deal with right here and right now.
They won't care if they make any "all new" statement lie (an "all new" take on something pre-existing like BOG and RF is not "all new" by definition anyway, so such statement would already be a lie right now), I bet they'll cease the opportunity to re-use footage for sure if they can!

That would just be the most handy thing to do for everyone involved. But we'll see.

A retelling literally means to tell the story again or differently. Regardless of his direction, it's still a retelling. Lol.

I highly doubt they'll just copy and paste the movies onto the series though. Makes little sense from a storytelling and business standpoint.

ROF can be totally skipped, it's structured as a filler anyway. All that it adds happens before it even starts (Super Bluper) and Jaco can be introduced anytime else. BOG will have to be retold tho.

I'm glad we're gonna explore other universe and this arc will move past endless reunion parties on Earth. Can't wait for that, we just have to slog through BOG/ROF period to get to the better stuff.

It'll be interesting to see this new set have a price tag on it's wishes.

For example if they want someone brought back to life then someone has to die or if they want to be rich then someone will have to be poor.

Simple, all they need to do is cut the number of Saiyans needed by one.
Hopefully they also make it so Vegeta goes God at the same time too.

They don't need to retell anything... They can just expand the history! Example:

6 months after Buu
- 1 episode explaining the aftermath

-------- time skip ---------

Start of BOG arc
- episode that deepens history on Beerus wake and provides character background
- Expand on Super Saiyan God myth
- Place movie, with some new footage, 3 to 4 episodes
- Aftermath of battle and Whis offer for training

Start of FNF arc
- Explain Vegeta SSG
- Episode(s) with Vegeta and Goku training under Whis and Frieza's ressurection / training
- FNF expanded into 3 to 4 episodes
- FNF aftermath

Start of Universe 6 act

Seems possible and doesn't involve any retelling

On the contrary, it acknowledges them as central events of their respective arcs. The series will expand on them, not retell them.
