Ah... It's always those little things that get me. So we're still talking about the same time frame though, right? I mean, he can't be speaking of chapters 518 and 519, because that doesn't make any sense.
I guess he's little confused and thinks that only the final chapter covers the tournament.

Yeah, that, or chapter 518 only counts as "the aftermath of the battle with Boo", as we only see a few pages of teenage Trunks flying to Gohan's house before chapter 519 begins and it has that page telling us how the characters changed after 10 years. It's an easy mistake to make.

Just read through this thread for the first time and, well, better late than never...

:D HELL YES!!! :D

Toriyama is writing it, this is so damn awesome. I cannot wait! This is great for the online Dragon Ball fandom. Now we actually have something new to discuss!

We've had plenty of new things to discuss -- there really hasn't been too much downtime since the revival in 2002, basically for the entire last decade.

There are plenty of news about Dragon Ball Heroes, Dragon Ball SD, Dragon Ball Z For Kinect, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai HD Collection... and now this movie.

Honestly, I'm kind of tired of Goten and Trunks at that young age. I definitely want to see something of them in their pre-teen years instead. Something to make Toriyama have to give his current characters a new look.

The new magazines should be making their rounds about now. I guess it'll be a few weeks before we get any new info?

While I'm not tired of them at that age per se (and in all honesty, could I ever be?), my one qualm with the Jump special was that Goten and Trunks were apparently two years older despite looking the same. I'm perfectly happy to have them feature as they are, though.

I do think it will be a while before we get anything new , like a preview/ trailer or something. However, if what Kei translated for us is true, than that would mean that it's been almost a year since they started rounding up the production cast, so there might be some material already done.

That's a good thing. Has any anime/manga franchise lasted as long as DBZ has, with new projects being created like this?

Doraemon, Sazae-san, Gundam, and Lupin are all older than Dragon Ball, and have had consistent new material for decades. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

Does Kochikame count? I think it hasn't stopped being published yet. What about Sailor Moon and Saint Seiya?

Besides Gundam and Sailor Moon, I don't even know what the other titles listed above are. And EVERYONE knows Dragon Ball. So... here's the difference. Which has nothing to do with anything. Sorry xD

I think he means that we have something worth talking about other then video games, toys and silly fantasy vs matches. I think having a new DB animated feature length film is a big deal since the last DBZ movie we got was Movie 13 which was 17 years ago. Yeah the specials where nice but I view them as appetizers since they hold off fans for very long in my opinion.

This is really what I meant. Thanks Hellspawn28, lol. I'm aware of all the video games and such, but this is something really, really big. Akira Toriyama is writing a new Dragon Ball movie. :o

I know it came off like I thought this was the first new Dragon Ball related thing we could discuss in a while. It's obviously not as these forums are still rockin' every day, and there are many fresh topics about relevant happenings that I'm aware of but don't join in.

Just how different do seven and nine-year-olds look, though? Serious question. I mean, Trunks, who's older than Goten in one year, was only a tad taller than him. I guess Toei just didn't feel the need to change their designs if they were practically the same. This isn't a 12-year-old to 15-year-old jump like with Gokuu at the 22nd Tenkaichi Budoukai.

But I actually agree with Drabaz in being tired of Goten and Trunks at that age, and that it'd be better if they were in their pre-teen or even actual teenage years (I like Goten's end-of-Z design, even if he's just sporting one of Yamcha's hairstyle like Gohan did years prior).

The only real problem I have with them not looking any older is that Yamcha (I think) actually goes up to them and compliments them on how big they've gotten. While I'm sitting there watching and thinking, "No. No, they haven't." But I guess in the real world we say that to kids too even when we don't mean it. :D

Well, Freeza deduces that Gohan must be Raditz's son based on how he looks nothing like Vegeta or Nappa (even though, to us, Raditz looks nothing like Gohan either; he actually bears more of a resemblance to Vegeta), and Gokuu remarks on how Vegeta and future Trunks look alike too. I guess it's to do with artistic style (especially with Toriyama's limited character designs) and how it can be hard to show off certain detailed characteristics on just paper the way you can in real-life. Something like that.

I thought there was something (anime filler maybe?) where one of the super-warriors mentions that Trunks and Vegeta have the same eyes.
