Regarding the new film. I've heard talks about a certain Yamoshi who's the real first Super Saiyan God.

But are there confirmations that the film will be around that story?

Or will it be set after the TOP, introducing the audience to a possible new serie in 2019-2020, like BOG did before Super?

Did people wrongly assume this was going to be part of the main series like Movies 14 and 15 were? It could just be a re-telling of Goku's origin and the ancient Saiyans.

That would be certainly interesting and ballsy especially if it's a retelling the "Z" portions of the series.

Since Toriyama is describing the film as a "Dragon Ball Super movie", I hope it's appropriate for me to point out in this thread that the website has been updated and even has a statement from Toriyama. There's something visually appealing about the colors and layout I can't quite put my finger on.

I was wondering about that, myself. I really hope it isn't something along the lines of "The Tournament of Power has concluded with Freeza emerging victorious, and he uses the Super Dragon Balls to make himself even more powerful than the guide angels! Will Son Gokū and friends be able to stop him?! Find out this December in an all-new Dragon Ball Super film written by Toriyama Akira himself!!"

I doubt that this is the case, but it wouldn't surprise me too terribly much... Still, I'm going to wait until we have significantly more news before I commit my predictions to anything.

Edit: Toyotaro says "the manga will continue through the manga" so I take this to mean that the manga will also tell a story of the events following the conclusion of the ToP.

Agreed. I'm not sure what else could take place if this story follows the Tournament of Power, but, knowing Toriyama, I expect he could easily come up with something both exciting and believable. The term "long-awaited" is interesting to me; it implies that we've been waiting for or otherwise anticipating this opponent. The only character that comes to my mind is Jiren... I really hope the weekly episodes don't conclude with a cliffhanger with a closing statement of "Stay tuned for the movie this December to see the exciting conclusion to the Tournament of Power!"

By the way, since we know now that the film is a Dragon Ball Super movie, is it appropriate to discuss it here or should we migrate any conversation regarding it to the thread dedicated to it?

Me either. A little of him goes a long way. I can't really think of anyone who's been built up that hasn't been dealt with except Uub. Unless Cell comes back.

Beerus can probably be competitive if he just gets his shit together and starts training in earnest. He ain't keeping up watching cartoons all day.
