It's probably one of their big announcments. Let's be fair for a minute, most of Funi's titles don't make much profit outside maybe 9 or 10 titles. Dragonball is more important than most of the shit they license. No disrespect to other titles and fans of those said titles.B wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't their Anime Expo "big news," and they just considered it a title to be announced like any other.
Maybe it's more Shin Chan!
Dragonball Season 1 Discussion
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Or that Sailor Moon re-dub they're supposedly trying to do.
I don't know why they want to redub Sailor Moon so badly. I'd be happy with reissued boxsets that have both the (doesn't mean to sound like a commercial but can't help the case
I have nostalgia tied to that messy old Sailor Moon dub; I know I wouldn't be able to enjoy a redub unless it had the same cast. No way anyone else they cast can top (dub-wise) that 2nd Sailor Moon VA.

erm....
I didn't know about this. I really would take that over Dragonball season 1 any day though.

I wasn't talking about the 3rd Sailor Moon dub VA (she was all screechy; like a bad parody of the 2nd VA)
This is the awful thing about text, its harder to tell if I was insulted or not; plus the fact that I never memorized the actual names of the Sailor Moon VA's means that I can't clarify my post. *Sighs*. TT_TT
I don't like dub!Freeza.
I think I'm talking about Terri Hawkes according to ANN?
I...don't know.....

Terri Hawkes was the second (and in many opinions including my own best) Sailor Moon. Understandable why she didn't do S and SuperS, but still, she was the best. Granted I didn't really watch SuperS aside from the movie with her in it.Chuquita wrote:I wasn't talking about the 3rd Sailor Moon dub VA (she was all screechy; like a bad parody of the 2nd VA)![]()

She had twins after R and never came back to VA-ing after that I think?
At least that's what I heard as the reason for the 2nd Sailor Moon dub VA's absence.
I'm pretty sure I have the correct name this time. I'm really not familiar with the VA's names at all.

Of course I wasn't insulting you personally. I just disagree with your stance on the dub of Sailor Moon. I actually don't mind it as much as others but a faithful dub would undoubtedly make my panties wet.Chuquita wrote:I wasn't talking about the 3rd Sailor Moon dub VA (she was all screechy; like a bad parody of the 2nd VA)![]()

I see what you're talking about though. The 2nd V.A was first used in the Sailor Mars episode right? She was used as kind of a stand in for the 1st V.A in some episodes. I definitely don't like her as much as the original but she's better then the 3rd no doubt.
...oh right Dragonball

Oh cool; okay. :3
I just checked the VA's at ANN; I had no idea they alternated between #1 and #2 during the first season; that's confusing as anything.
I really wish the internet could convey tone in addition to text; it's why I try to use emotes so often, but they're only a substitute.
And I totally understand your POV; the old Sailor Moon dub is butchered to here and back and it's loaded with cheesy 90's slang (EDIT: And also they changed all those names) ; so that dub is mostly a nostalgia deal for me.
Nostalgia's a rough thing. @_@

The massacred scripts and inconsistencies between attack and item names were awful though. Not to mention flat out stupid name changes like "Molly" or "Maxfield Stanton".Super Sonic wrote:Don't mind the changed names. Heck, the inner soldiers and Chibi-Usa's changed names made sense with the pun or were similar enough to the original names. Plus they kept their last names (though some were only in related merchandise except for Tuxedo Mask).

And agreed with the notion that she was awesome. She is not comparable to Linda Young's Freeza. If anything, she's a bright spot on a technically terrible dub. Dub Freeza is pretty much par for the course within the english version.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

Hm, I'm not really seeing that happening if they are trying to match the Japanese voices. The only character that may get a voice like hers would be Chibi Usa who's a child so it may make her squealyness more bearable for you.Innagadadavida wrote:I can just see FUNi casting Luci Christian as Sailor Moon or one of those girls. Ugh... She's my least favorite of their in-house actresses. Her voice is so squeely it gets on my nerves.
In fact Luci sounds a hell of a lot like "Rinis" (Chibi Usa's) old voice actor.
WILL YOU PEOPLE STOP MAKING ME POST ABOUT SAILOR MOON!?

She became pregnant with twins sometime after R and before S. Probably found a job that would give her more time to spend with them. She did come back for the movies though (I think?)
My Sailor Moon knowledge is SO fuzzy.
I wonder if a redubbed Luna would have a young voice this time around?

She was in late stages of pregnancy and then had twins. She did love the part and meeting fans though. She even said she would've returned for Sailor Stars (back when it seemed possible to do that season).Onikage725 wrote:Why didn't she?Super Sonic wrote: Terri Hawkes was the second (and in many opinions including my own best) Sailor Moon. And I like Luci Christian. Yukari rocks!
The movies were done before S was done. That's why they had everyone including Katie Griffin's return as Rei. When S premiered, new Serena, Mina and Amy.She did come back for the movies though (I think?)
The amount of VA-shuffling sounds infinitely more complicated than the Ocean/Funi situation with db/z/gt. @_@
And its a shame Sailor Stars never got dubbed; at least with Dragon Ball we eventually got the whole thing done.
As far as voices fitting goes, with DB, I always would've liked to have seen a dub Vegeta with a voice similar to Ryo Horikawa's.
