Don't worry Paradox295, Toonami is not back. :) I hope my post hasn't led to people thinking Toonami is back.

Basically, a YouTube channel popped up a few weeks ago called "ToonamiCNX", they claim to be old workers for the old Toonami. They said they won a court battle, and got the rights to the channel and some shows (of which I think included Dragon Ball Z). They have some copyright numbers on their page, which, I have no clue if they actually mean anything. I wouldn't even know how to check to see if they're legit.

We've been talking about it over on UKdb, we have never believed it. We've just been speculating what it could be, it's pretty obvious it's some people posing as Toonami. We wanted to show them support, you know, just in case it was actually true.

ToonamiCNX claimed to have a channel on Sky. So, we got in touch with Sky to see if this was true. Sky told us they didn't have a channel by the name of ToonamiCNX, CNX or Toonami. We told ToonamiCNX about this and they said "you have to be in a certain area to pick up the channel", so it was obvious then it wasn't true. They claim to be getting in touch with someone about the problems people are experiencing (not being able to get the channel).

Overall it's highly unlikely any of what they are saying is true. I guess we just had a bit of hope for the UK.

Hope this clears everything up!

Didn't Toonami become Cartoonito, which is like Cartoon Network's Nick Jr.

I'd prefer it if CNX came back, CNX was godlike compared to Toonami. They didn't show any Swimsuit shows or Kung-fu films on Toonami...

They didn't show as many Adult Swim shows on Toonami either did they?

Well they did move Yu Yu Hakusho to Toonami when it got really popular, but that's just about it. And Rurouni Kenshin and Outlaw Star aren't Adult Swim, but they were pretty much shown uncut.

Nnno, no they weren't. There was a lot of censorship still going on with both those shows, just less than you'd see on standard cable networks, or even Disney XD or Nick. Trust me, I was one of the guys who kept up with those Edit Lists back in the day.

Yeah. Not to turn this thread away from Dragon Ball, but one rather large example I recall, is how in Outlaw Star they cut out an entire episode where the cast lands on a hot springs planet. There were a few nude shots of Aisha in that episode, which could have easily been edited/removed, but I guess it was the whole subject matter that got to the censors, because if I recall correctly, Gene was required to get nude footage of some woman to get some new Castor shells. Even though we didn't see the footage (it exploded) I guess the idea was too much for the censors.

When they cut the whole episode though, he had the new shells out of nowhere in the next episode. I can't remember if the edited dub compensated for that in any way (like an explanation of how he got them).

I doubt that Funi directly casted Scott, they probably approved of the casting choices made by Ocean for eps 1-53.

But, the casting of Ocean's DBZ eps 1-53 provided a fantastic foundation for Ocean's DBZ eps 108-276.

Oh, I wouldnt've thought you'd have this opinion based on our discussions earlier. It seems you're not as big a Funi fan as you appeared to come across as.

It's ridiculous. They're pretending they used to work for Toonami, what's that gonna acheive?

Mhm, Cartoonito isn't even a thing in the US.

Also, it was split into 2 channels. 4am-8pm is Cartoonito, and 8pm-4am is Turner Classic Movies 2.

I want them to close down TCM2 and launch Adult Swim in that space instead. TCM2's a waste, IMO. I checked and it's lucky to get 16,000 viewers.

Barry Watson was the director dude, and Piccolo wasn't a holdeover from the old DB dub, so it's fair to say they cast him. Even if you don't want to argue semantics, the people on Funi's side probably heard a bunch of people and approved Scott.

There's nooooo way that episode could've aired on Toonami at the time. It was nothing but pure cheesecake fanservice. There was a whole scene with Aisha (was that her name?) nude in a lava pit, and countless scenes of overdrawn boobie girls if I recall correctly. It would've taken them forever to redraw everything.

One of my favorite Outlaw Star edits, though, is there's a scene where Jim, in the original, has blood all over his hand and goes 'What the hell is this?!' ... in the EDITED version, he's just looking at his CLEAN HAND... and yet STILL GOES 'What the hell is this?' Yes, with 'hell' in there. On the reairing I believe they realized their error and fixed it, but I laughed forever at it back in the day.

Of course, hence why I said the concept was too much for the censors.

My point was that since a whole episode was cut, that it wasn't entirely "nearly uncut", but I suppose on the other hand you could say it was as close to uncut as they would have been able to air it, which was probably jjgp's point.

Why would it need to be toonami? It was on Nick in usa. Kai is HD. So it would stand to reason if UK gets Kai, It could go on Nickelodeon/NickelodeonHD.

That would be perfect imo. But NickToons UK said they would not be airing the show. :(

I don't see why, it's not a shitty sitcom for kids or a repeat of Spongebob.

Kix! might have a chance, they said they checked a screener or something.

Cartoon Network have been horrible the past few years, but they show action cartoons.

Remember, our CN and Nick aren't the same as the US, in the US CN shows adult swim and originally aired Transformers Animated instead of Nicktoons.

Toonami wasn't an actual channel there either was it?

Kix! would be a horrible choice for two reasons. 1) No HD 2) They always screw-up series order. Example batman of the future and ultimate muscle.

If it's not Nick HD, they Sky 1 would be my choice as they are trying to get new kids content on there like Transformers prime is set to go there. I wish the anime channel was still around. That would be perfect.

Please explain why you say Transformers Prime will be on Sky 1? According to this its going to be on CN UK.

Okay, let's do a quick rundown of UK Kids channels...

Cartoon Network/CN Too: Probably, but they're currently not so big on anime (They don't have Pokemon/YGO/Beyblade like the US. But they do have Bakugan)

Nickelodeon/NickToons: Possibly, they have said they didn't want it, but they're airing Power Rangers now, like the US.

Disney XD: They passed on Naruto Shippuden, so I doubt it.

CBBC: Least likely. It's not their kind of show.

CITV: My safest bet. They have stuff like X Men & Spiderman The Animated Series on ITV1 on Saturday mornings. Plus they sometimes air YGO 5D's.

Kix!: Safest bet behind CITV, since they might not be able to afford it

So from most likely to least likely: CITV > Kix! > Nick/NickToons > CN/CN: Too > Disney XD > CBBC

Also, Sky1 are airing Transformers?!

Awhile ago there was reports that it was on "Sky 1" and "channel 4". A sky guide (the official magazine) wrongly said "Coming to sky 1 this April"

Please, no. Have you seen the types of shows on CITV? I really don't think Dragon Ball Z Kai would work well on that channel. Plus, it's ITV. They'd probably show an advert every 3 minutes.

Maybe if we wish hard enough SyFy will start showing anime again instead of horrible mockbusters.
