I'm not so sold on this game just yet. It has yet to show anything new, like... at all. Hmm. Time will tell.

Okay so after the excitement of many games at E3 I've come back to this thread expecting nothing more than to read all of your lovely comments but no! I get some gameplay! Moreover the gameplay looks phenomenal, a Tenkaichi styled game created by Dimps? Bravo! Graphics look fantastic in motion, the fighting system looks great and you can transform in-game.

I must say that I am very, very happy with this.

In the gameplay video when Goku was fighting Cell, the arena was getting destroyed and it stayed that way.

A few things:
1. Everything looks great except the models themselves. ...WAY too much shading.
2. Will Battle of Gods' Bills and Whis return?
3. Will SSj Bardock return. (This is what I what the most)

I think Beerus, Whis, and SSJG Goku will be in. BoG is still so new, they can definitely milk it.

Super hyped that Dimps is back and if it wasn't for this new story that they're doing, I wouldn't have been THIS excited like the rest of yall because... well you know why. I don't care if this new character or his story is gonna be terrible, I'm just glad they're mixing things up for once with him being the "key" character. Anyway, as much as I am excited for Dimps to be working on this, there are a couple of gripes I have with it and hope to be fixed.

-The colors need to be accurate this time. Dimps has been known to have innacurate colors like the Special Beam Cannon being purple when it's supposed to be yellow, orange, and purple, Cell's aura being green when it's supposed to be gold, and Frieza's aura being purple when it's supposed to be sky blue(though they had it right in Shin Budokai dunno why they have it wrong here). This is one of the few things Spike has over Dimps.

-A bit of the animations seem a bit off. Just about two of Goku's fighting animations I saw in the trailer.

Other than that, I'm stoked! The gameplay looks awesome!

God, I hope the Red-Haired character isn't an official character "Xeno" That would immediately turn me off from this game altogether if hes in control of the storymode. I pray its just a proxy for Character Creator.

They already said there would be destructable enviroments but so far only, at the Tenkaichi level. Hopefully they'd take it further and give us real time explosions and craters as well. If not, the hype for the game will be spoiled.

no it wasnt lol
Go play a Spike game again. The characters were almost half the size of the corner pillars of the ring and the ring itself was 1/4 of the stage instead of being 3/4 of it like it is now. Now the ring actually looks like its the right size and scale.

If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

I like what I've seen from the gameplay. I prefer the traditional 2.5D fighters, but if it can be an improved version of the BT games and stays far away from Raging Blast's style that's certainly a good step in the right direction.

Actually here is a screenshot of the arena from Budokai Tenkaichi 3
The proportions look fairly correct to me, even if they are a little too small.

Gameplay is amazing. This might be the one we have been waiting for. I just hope for some GT and most movies. Other than that I am already satisfied.

I've noticed you don't really get into GT/movies unless the title spawns a sequel. With a game like the DB fighters we have seen over the past decade+, a main opportunity for sequels lies in characters excluded from the previous game title in that series of games, if the first game does well and/or ticks the boxes for a sequel title on the same engine, more characters will be added onto the already established roster of the first game.

The definitive DBZ game I've always wanted is a 2.5D fighter a la the Budokai games but with more character variance and an actual combo system instead of button mashing (which is fun, but repetitive), plus an open world story mode with actual cutscenes (seriously, Budokai 1 is, to date, the only DBZ game where actual effort was put into the cutscenes. Even Burst Limit's were pretty lazy for the most part). Part of what made Budokai 1, and BT to a lesser extent, so fun was the extensive character customization, too.

Yeah, I can imagine this is coming 2015, it looks quite rough around the edges. There aren't even voices and some sound effects are missing! So, alpha stage is believable. I'm glad to be excited about Dragon Ball games again, guys :P

Valid point. At least give something different then what has already been given I guess which would be GT. Even if it was up to the end up Baby since there was never really any GT in the last gen story wise.

I'm somewhat excited. Not enough to want to buy just yet, but to have dimps and possible Character Creation does make me smile. Hopefully like others have said, that guy who looks like like he jumped out of a fanfic is just a proxy that's replaced with your own character.

I hope rush moves are still around as I really liked those kind of flashy combos. I don't just want ki beams everywhere.

It honestly felt a lot smaller than it looks especially in that pic, I'm telling you. I'm barely even in the ring for a few seconds. In Spike games the stage was also too destructable where just by flying over it, it breaks apart. Meh, thats all history now though - i'm tired of Spike anyway.
Avenged wrote:Character art of the "new fighter".
As I said, he better just be a custom character, cuz all he is, is nothing but Trunks with Gohan's hair and Piccolo's Tien's cape? with a name undragonball-like. I'm surprised they gave us official art of this thing guy who ever he thinks he is. If hes an official character I'm gonna face-palm so hard it would make Ed Boon cringle.

I was gonna say it looked more like Trunks with Dabura's cape, Gohan's hair, and Raditz' scouter.

Hope Beerus/Whis reappear here. Never mangaed to unlock them in BoZ. So, would be nice to play as them. Especially in a Dimps developed game.

Also find it funny they had Sabat town down the narration for this one after the narration for BoZ's trailer sounded like he was a coked up Yamcha or something.

Hope the character is a character creation thing. That was my favorite part of UT/UB other than the new animation.
