I've bolded the parts that confused me. I've only re-posted the tweet because I'm worried my post fell through the cracks in lieu of current discussion.

The "large/size" line is especially interesting; it makes me think of how Piccolo was able to become gigantic in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai. It makes me wonder if Birusu can grow in size and if ssjg can as well.

Oh really? Where is that stated? I'm sorry but Cell disagrees with you . Like I said though, Zenkai's could have been turned into potential expansions for ssj's as opposed to straight power ups. It allow for a faster power up.

It was stated in the Daizenshuu, and it wasn't talking about Cell, it was talking about the heroes.

The Daizenshuu never stated that they disappeared for good.

The near-death power-ups are over since Freeza arc. That's an official fact.

And I don't understand how everyone came to the conclusion that SS3 Goku is stronger than Ultimate Gohan. We have only seen only a few seconds from their fights, and we only know that both of them will get a horrible beating.

Where exactly in this thread or other parts of this forum , did everyone here come to this conclusion?

Things like the V-Jump scan with the screenshot of Gohan and Buu getting their heads slammed stops me from believing that this was simply for "promotional reasons". Watanabe's Tweets seem like a big cover up to me.

I wonder if we'll have a case of some clips from the trailers not appearing in the final movie.

It's in the original version, chapter 270. It says Goku has discovered the way to increase his power through Zenkai but that he has already reach the limit. The English version says he can now become Super Saiyan, while Toriyama hadn't planed that Super Saiyan was a trasformation at the time.

It's also in the Daizenshuu, you might have missed this at some point but now it's time you accept there won't be Zenkai anymore for Goku.

This is possible (that it was a last-minute change).
Even though I felt it was strange for them to have forgotten such a glaring issue (Gohan's hair isn't that big of a deal to me, but I can see how it is a plothole) I do have to give them credit for actually going back and correcting it after the fans pointed it out to them if this is the case. Color-correcting all those frames had to have taken time/cost money where Toei could have gone the easier route and simply hand-waved Gohan's ssj hair and ignored the plot point.

Sorry, but this is a wrong translation you're showing us.

Originally, the narrative only states that Goku pushed his body to the brink of death before taking a senzu, doing so repeatedly.
Then the panel you mention actually says that Goku probably had become aware that a Saiyan's power would increase everytime they were near death.
Goku later proves that by telling Vegeta about it, and then has a huge Zenkai while recovering from the deadly Ginyu fight injuries.

EDIT: The translation isn't wrong on your panel either, it does say - in Spanish - exactly what I said above.
"Pero, gracias a este entrenamiento tan severo, Goku ha comprendido que posee esa caracteristica de los Saiyanos que hace que su fuerza aumente cada vez que sobrevivien a la muerte."
("But, thanks to that harsh training, Goku has understood that he has that trait of Saiyans that makes their strength increase everytime they survive after being at the brink of death.")

You are ignoring the latter part of his argument which says that Goku got a boost after ginyu.

Unless of course I missed this dashing revelation where base goku in the ginyu saga was actually as strong as suppressed 4th fom frieza.

Even after the battle with Freeza, formidable enemies surpassing human knowledge appeared one after the other to face Goku. Though the power-ups received after having wounds healed became small, Goku and co. began using transformations and fusions to increase their battle powers, to the point where they could no longer be measured numerically...

The ending paragraph seems to mostly be a way of explaining why no battle powers are available after the battle with Freeza, saying that past this point battle powers become simply immeasurable. The way the note about near-death power-ups becoming "small" is phrased in Japanese (sukunakunatta), it could either mean that they became small, infrequent, or simply insufficient.

In other words, they became insignificant, while you claim that Goku got a significant boost.

On Zenkais. I do think they were gone after the Freeza arc for the Saiyans, or just really unnoticeable. I do think Goku definitely received one after the Ginyu fight, especially considering Vegeta received one that shot him miles ahead of everybody besides Freeza's final form and Goku.

I checked my Japanese tankobon and it says that he's got power that exceeds the Saiyan race's limits.

The news about Gohan not actually being a Super Saiyan in-film has thrown me for a loop honestly. What was all of the animation of him being Super Saiyan for then? If it was marketing like suggested, then...that's just weird. Would the casual fans really be that much more enthused just because Gohan's hair was yellow? I'm confused. *shakes head*

Ah well, guess that's one thing cleared up at least.
