On the matter of these episodes not containing fights:
Regardless of where Battle of Gods winds up landing, be it six months after Buu, or if they do several time skips to preserve it's currently established place in time, I don't think we could realistically expect the first two or three episodes to have any real significance towards the plot. I mean, maybe some, but we are dropping in on these characters in a time of supposed peace. There's got to be some sort of build up to this Battle of Gods arc I would think.

On the Vegeta family going to a resort? Bring it! I want everything that everyone's already said! Just add somewhere towards the end of the episode that Vegeta and Trunks finally happen across some bumper cars somewhere. Something that might be at least remotely fun for Vegeta, and some little brat kid keeps ramming Vegeta just to be annoying causing Vegeta's rage to break (and maybe also his bumper car) and scaring the hell out of the kid.

@Tennessaiyan: Or better yet: no pudding for Beerus. :(

I didn't say it was slice of life. I said it was similar to one.
A slice of life comedy series would be if we dicked around with Goku as he did random shit around Gohan's house for like 5 chapters.
This is funny since this is similar to what actually happened. The series just followed random crap Bulma and Goku did.
-Bulma randomly getting captured by a dinosaur.
-Bulma and Goku living together
-Goku beating up some bear for trying to take Roshi's turtle
etc

By definition, this is exactly what slice of life is.
"The literary term refers to a storytelling technique that presents a seemingly arbitrary sample of a character's life, which often lacks a coherent plot or conflict. The story may have little plot progress and little character development, and often has no exposition, conflict, or dénouement".
It all followed a plotine, aka going after the Dragon Balls. The entire thing is not Goku and Bulma dicking around in jolly good normal lives, it's their adventure. The narraration supports this by mentioning how this is all part of the quest. Everything was part of the journey for the Dragon Balls. The dinosaur wasn't filler, but to show why Goku is needed. Gathering the Dragon Balls is dangerous, so we're quickly shown how Bulma stands no chance on her own without Goku. The Dinosaur also shows how capable Goku is, as well as showing off a taste of the kind of enemies Goku may face. The stuff about living together is the slice of life part without a doubt, as it shows, it's brief but fun. It shows some down time before the next day. Come tomorrow and turtle shows how selfless Goku is. He'd rather help Turtle first than sefishly go on his quest. The only side turn was turtle, and he turned out to be important on the quest for the Dragon Balls as he lead to one, and he lead to establishing Muten Roshi early on before he reappears later.

So no it's an adventure tale through and through, with some down time moments. Everything more or less has a point to exist. This isn't just a slice of life series chronicling Goku and Bulma doing random shit. Some random stuff happens to them on their journey yes, but that's part of the adventure, not a slice of their home lives and daily routines. Goku is exploring outside his usual area as well as Bulma, so slice of life does not fit people who are doing stuff they've never done before as well as having an end goal they journey to reach.

What I hope:

The Prince of the Saiyan race walked around the resort bored, thinking about Kakorot and how he might be training. When a shop of crazy hats caught his eye, intrigued by such useless accessories the proud warrior entered.
Bulma wondering where Vegeta was after leaving two hours ago send Trunks to find him, and so he did in front of a pool admiring his reflection. After that day Vegeta earned a new nickname the Top Hat Saiyan!

Indeed. Honestly would not mind if we got a few more episodes like these.

I can see Vegeta getting all angry if there are some assholes trying to hit on Bulma on bikini. Imagine if they slap her butt. People will die.

Well , it will be a lot of fun to see Vegeta going on a trip with Bulma and Trunks and he doesn't complain about trip and doesn't destroy anything if he gets angry on it .

There wasn't much fighting in the first episode of DBZ (unless you count Farmer with Shotgun and a one-attack standoff with Piccolo) and the second one mostly involves talking with only one hit taken, IIRC.

I think that we'll be fine without any fighting for a couple of episodes. They could be mostly slice of life, with just a few scenes adding suspense (kind of like how Raditz's arrival added suspense, but the episode ended up being about poor li'l Gohan lost in the forest for the most part).

What, were they really expecting bloody battles right off the bat?

There are people saying that they are starting to like GT more, because Super is garbage. Super didn't even begun yet...
You can find all kind of gems on youtube. Its not a place to be taken serious.

So far so good. I'm loving this whole "slice of life" thing going on. I still want that wedding episode that I mentioned weeks ago, it has all sorts of potential. As for the resort episode, I'm gonna guess that Vegeta's going to do something really "awkward" and embarrass his family.

Maybe they prefer GT because they start with a battle (Goku vs. Uub) straight away. And that's in the case they began watching it at episode one and not episode onetosixteenintwentyminutes.

Ha ha, wow, this is great news! The idea of Vegeta going on a trip with his family makes me feel something resembling joy, I think. I just assumed this series would get right into the fights that everyone expects, and never dreamed I'd get to see some cute Vegeta family time right near the start. Scenes of Veggie being surrounded by normal humans and being forced to put up with them just scream comedy gold! I just hope his curiosity over what Gokuu is up to doesn't lead to him quickly ditching his family to run off to train (like, let it happen near the end of the episode, OK? 'Cause we all know it's gonna happen).

Should I hope for romance, too? I probably shouldn't, but since JSAT and Battle of Gods both gave us some nice moments of VegeBul, I'm hopeful that Super will give us a little something, too.

To be fair, DBZ started with a battle right from the start. All the while, Goku visited his friends and the audience was introduced to Gohan. =P

I personally love "slice of life" episodes, but there should definitely be a side plot accompanying them that builds up to something. I am 95% sure they will be doing this through Beerus, and he will be giving the audience the show's earliest (one-sided) fights.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

So, action only begins at episode 3 I assume?

Something like a new enemy coming to disturb Briefs Family Trip or whatever? lol

Anyway... It is confirmed that this series will retcon Battle Of Gods and exclude JSAT? Since it's only 6 months after the defeat of Kid Boo, and JSAT was 2 years after and BoG 4 years?

Yeah, Beerus brings the "something serious has to be preparing behind the curtains" feel, with a few battles.
For episode 1, you can also probably consider that the action part and first fight of the show will be Goku versus all previous enemies, in an action scene that will probably be much longer than in the manga.

Goku's virtual fight will be the "first fight" of Super, to have an action scene in episode 1 (plus probably Beerus before he blows up the planet).
It also serves as a callback to the previous series (chronologically) in episode 1, a reminder of "if you don't remember that previous series 18 years ago, it was the one with Freezer, then Cell, then Boo, and now we continue with the new story".
For that reason, I think there won't be a recap, I think the "recap" is just going to be seeing the three main legendary enemies from the past show in Goku's mind.

Seriously, it seems like nobody has ever considered the possibility that this series set in a ten year gap might, on occasion, time skip...like Dragon Ball had done many times before this. We've had no confirmation that BoG stuff will start right away six months after Buu.
