You nuts? Oh, I and the rest of the people who grew up with Z are sorry for liking it for different reasons.
When did it become nuts to connect the dots? Also, did you not read the second half of my post? The part where I specifically said the audience for the film isn't the folks who dislike humor in their Dragon Ball Z, but the folks who will go anyway? I certainly don't see humor being credibly attributed to the lack of success for the 2013 film. Folks come for the action and don't give a shit if they laugh while they're there.

In other words: let's not confuse our personal reasons for liking something with the reasons the masses will watch this film.

If you're referring to Trunks killing him then yeah, I didn't love that.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic moment and it's beautifully realised in the anime but it cheapens the character all for the sake of establishing Trunks' strength.
That, the actual SS Goku vs Freeza fight, the talk of him in the Buu arc, and the JSAT special. Plus all of the Toei material where he gets killed in one hit and/or is made to look like a comical moron. Again.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Besides Trunks foderizing mecha Freezer after Gohan stated that he (mecha freezer) wasn't as powerful as before, what else did Toriyama to disrespect the character?
During the Buu arc Kaiohshin talked about killing Freezer in one hit, but that was the Kaiohshin that could also neutralize the power of a SSJ2 with his own powers and that made Piccolo surrender only with his presence. Upon reaching Babidi's spaceship both him and Gohan were completely re-made in the sense of being completely different than to what they were before entering the space-ship (Gohan was weaker than in the Cell games, but still a SSJ2 before reaching Babidi's. Kaiohshin went from making Piccolo shit his pants to be scared of a guy that considered 10x gravity to be a big factor on a fight.

What KaiohShin said regarding Freezer can only be applied to the KaiohShin that could neutralize the power of a SSJ2, not to the one that's scared of Pui Pui.

I'm really sick of the attitude of "you're not a real fan because you don't like it for the same reasons I do" and belittling people who aren't even here to defend themselves. Is there any value in that at all?

I am one who preferred the comedic moments in Battle of Gods over the action parts, yet I think the Pilaf Gang were pretty weak compared to the other gags. I wouldn't like to see them return in this movie and would instead prefer some more interesting gags.

I'm not sure their presence would really cheapen Freeza, though, given that they were in the Daimao arc without ruining the atmosphere of that at all. Then again, I don't remember them being used for gag scenes in the Daimao arc, and it'd be super pointless to bring them back in this movie to not use them for gag moments.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Please do not tell each other they are not fans of something just because they enjoy something differently because it sounds silly, I can't just read this train wreck as it is. Let's get back on topic without being slanderous toward our peers.

Note: I went from a page back to up to here so I'm not speaking to anyone directly, I just want us all to hold up the standard of this community for the best that it can be.

Cut it out with the "true fan" bullshit. A fan of DB is a fan of DB, no matter the version.
It just oozes pompous elitism when people say stuff like that.

Agreed. The discussion is no longer about the movie at that point.

If you're not willing to discuss things like a fan with the rest of your fellow fans, then that's what makes you "not a fan."

If that makes any sense. And it should. In other words, knock it off.

I loved BOG from beginning to end. I thought both the comedy and the action were done just fine. I am expecting this movie to be a bit darker, though.

But they were. Except this seconds:

Never saw something so ugly in the movies before. Thats the problem with CGI.
Can make some beautiful things but if its used wrong, becomes garbage.

Bach then, I didn't have to worry about this. But nowadays is different and becomes a problem.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

^ I don't understand how this scene came to be either.
I love Battle of Gods from A to Z and how it looks all over, CGI settings don't bother me at all. But here we have CGI characters that look like a not-so-pretty video game and it just jump to your eyes in this scene... It's not right.

And that shot lasting like 5 seconds doesn't include anything that would justify doing the characters in CGI when they are in regular 2D for other shots in the movie that have much more complicated camera movements.
I don't understand why making Goku and Beerus 3D models for that specific shot, and all the more when they look like obvious old-video-game renders that you can't possibly mistake for 2D models.

So yeah, for me, it's the one bothering ugly shot of the movie that stands out like... well, I don't know what expression to use, but that stands out in a very bad way.

There are two reasons that scene was created with CG: Toei fancies that they can become a leader in the CG industry, so they're shoe-horning it into their works. Additionally, nobody on the production committee stopped to think that it would perhaps be a good idea to lengthen the production schedule so that there would be time to schedule someone with talent to draw that shot in by hand.

Outside of the terrible CG the Goku VS Beerus fight in the climax is one of my favorite fights in the series, maybe even my actual favorite.

I loved the whole underground semi empty aqueduct cave fight a lot actually.

Looks like the big news for this scan is what we know already: Maximum the Hormone's 「F」being the battle song and Momoiro Clover Z having a song for the movie as well. There's probably more info about that, but I can't read kanji.

I figured that much when I first saw that post and I let my hopes get high regardless because I am starved for details or news here haha.

Precursory glance at the scan says no new plot info, but I could be wrong.
I am so used to my hopes for plot-info being dashed that I always expect nothing new anymore with these magazines. T_T
I want to hope though.
