Man, I seriously couldn't fall more in love with Fem Whis' design even if I could. And the Toyotaro comic about Champa was hilarious. I love lampshade hanging like that.

But if they gave us a "simultaneous sub" by Funimation, wouldn't it be region-locked to the U.S. only?

Yes, almost certainly.

I really like the look of that Toyotaro comic. Eye catching!

Also still super curious about the secrecy of Lady Whis' name. Seriously got me thinking she's also called Whis.
On hiatus.

Looks like the anime plumped Champa up even more from Toriyama's design

As far as simulcast, I hope it's coming. I don't currently pay for any streaming services but if FUNi (or by some miracle, Crunchyroll) simulcasts DBS, I'll subscribe for sure.

Yes, that's absolutey possible, and that would justify that there are specifically four question marks, one for each letter of WHIS.
Then of course, characters would have to find a way to differenciate them when talking about "Whis".

I think that Toei et al are just working around Toriyama's current penchant for rendering every design with needle-thin proportions.

"I am a being called Whis!" Would suddenly seem like a much less weird line.

I don't know about that. I'm in New Zealand and I can view the episodes of One Piece that are up on Crunchy Roll.

Man, I've been keeping up with all the new updates for this series, but I haven't really made any comments yet. I just don't know where to start. There's been so much to talk about in such a small period of time.

The fact that we're re-treading "old" material from the latest movies just comes off as so bizarre to me. What was the thinking behind this? When did they make the decision to recycle this material? How long have they been planning a new series for? Did they know there was going to be one as they were working on Revival of F? I'm dying to know about some of the conversations that went on behind the scenes in the lead-up to this. Did they decide to go ahead with it on such short notice that they didn't have enough time to come up with something completely new? I guess it's not unusual for a movie to re-tell the events of the series, but the other way around? I haven't watched that much Anime, though, so maybe it's not as weird as I'm making it out to be... Still, it's kind of ironic that Kai's successor, a completely new series, is also a re-telling of existing material. Imagine if they even chose to recycle footage from the movies?! I'm not necessarily saying that this is a bad thing, in fact, I'm now more excited than ever. Expanding the new movies into full-on arcs creates so much potential, I get giddy just thinking about it. It's a great opportunity to tie in more of the newly introduced concepts from BOG into Revival of F, so the latter doesn't feel like a stand-alone story so much. I'm definitely curious to see how many episodes these arcs will cover. Hopefully we'll see some more foreshadowing for future story-lines scattered throughout these episodes. We all know Toriyama will deliver his same old classic touch, but again, I'm hoping that we'll see a bit more ambition from him in this series, especially since he now has a lot more time to work with. It'd be really cool if he could catch us off guard with one or two things, whether it's how a particular event is executed or how certain plot points play out.

Oh, and in terms of the other universes, I've always been under the impression that these are different, physical locations out in space, rather than alternate takes on the one we're familiar with. The way people have been talking about it lately is making me think differently, though. I'm assuming we don't have any confirmation of this as yet, right?

Ah, just role on Sunday! I'm so ready for the first episode now. Following a new series, week-by-week, without knowing the outcome; it's an experience I've NEVER had with this franchise. This is gonna be so much fun, hopefully the conversations are just as great. Looking forward to people making jokes about how, "lulz, new DBZ series starts with fi11erz." :lolno: By the way, I should really get around to ordering the Super Start Guide. Seems like a great way to kick off a new era of DB-related money wasting...I mean purchases.

Yeah, I think her name is going to be Whis too. They probably aren't showing her name because it would confuse people, and would require them to explain plot details that they don't want to reveal yet. When in each others presence, they will probably address each other by their respective universe, so our Whis is Whis the Seventh, or something like that.

You've already seen the major ones, but here's a bunch of other shots from the magazine, just in case anyone's interested. A lot of it is just recycled bits and bobs, but they're cool enough to look at again, so why not! There's some larger/new shots from the upcoming episode, too.

Hopefully this number of images is okay to post. Supposedly, it's only a small chunk of the guide, so I imagine it's fine. Enjoy!

Hm, I wonder why SSJ3 Goku is in there with a halo. Maybe they will show how he learned to become SSJ3?

Which doesn't work, as Whis are actually three ''letters'' - ウイス

Dear god, please don't let this be truth. I really want to support the official release.
Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"

Seconds this x10. (≧▽≦)

I'm so happy/relived just to see ssjg Gokû's confirmed and they're keeping the same design for him.

Champa looks like he's gonna be a hoot to watch in action. XD
Toriyama having actually owned cats lends a lot to Beerus' character, Champa most likely too. X3

Indeed! SSJG seemed like it was barely established before it was replaced, so hopefully it'll get more of a showing in the series - even if it's just showing us how Vegeta acquires it. Hopefully they'll have changed him into his Resurrection 'F' togs by that point - the bright red hair with the deep gray bodysuit would be an awesome combination.

Also, re: Champa and Beerus - I've recently become a cat owner and finally got around to catching up with Battle of Gods. Loved how cat-like Beerus was in his mannerisms - his love of food and quick mood-swings were spot-on, and the whole sequence of his awkward streches/rolls and sleepy demeanour when waking up was very true-to-life as far as cats go. Really hope to see even more of his cat-like mannerisms in the series, along with a good portion from Champa too.

First impressions of Champa from looks alone is that he'll brag a bit and use his size to intimidate others but is actually a bit skittish when challenged directly - one of our neighbour's cats is very like this, which is probably why I've got that impression right now. It'll be interesting to see if that's how he is personality-wise, or if he's something else entirely! = )

I hope they don't show Vegeta in the SSG form, I don't think it'll look very nice on him.
