Based on the above, I pre-ordered next month's Saikyō Jump since I missed the original printings of Episode of Bardock, and was unaware of the compilation release that added the extra pages until it was too late. Whatever is inside (new material, Ooishi's JSAT adaptation or maybe both), it'll be nice to have in its entirety.

And dont buy the season versions as they have the Kikuchi score all the way through. The 8 Part sets have Yamamoto up to episode 54-55 I believe.

I think that's pretty subjective. Personally, I'd have to respectfully disagree. IMO, a Blu-ray release should be significantly sharper and clearer, visually than it's standard definition counterpart. While the opening and ending theme songs do look gorgeous in HD, the rest of the series looks quite soft. Very nearly standard def, in my eyes.

Then again, I do suppose there may be gains in audio quality, and perhaps colors, but those aren't what I specifically look for in Blu-ray footage. So really, it depends on the person's preferences, if the Blu-ray version is worth the extra cost. For me, no. For you, possibly, its your preference.

For the season sets I only have season one and three. I plan on getting season 4 on blu ray in a couple of weeks.

I have parts 4 and 7 on DVD just because I couldn't find the blu-rays when they had come out (Part 4 seems to have been particularly scalped). I do prefer the way the show looks on blu-ray, and when I watch the DVDs I feel like I'm missing out just a little wittle bit; even though I will totally agree that there isn't that huge of a difference.
I still have 4 and 7 on my Amazon wishlist. If and when I finally have all of Kai on blu-ray, I want to try making a custom case for the whole series.

Stuff I ordered in December:

Image

- Dragon Ball (all "seasons", new)
- First Strike set (DBZ movies 1-3, used)
- DBZ movie 7 4:3 FUNi single, used
- Broly: Triple Threat, used
- DBZ movie 12 (4:3), new
- Battle of Gods (official Hong Kong DVD release, new)

I also ordered "Bojack Unbound", but the seller hasn't shipped it. For a freakin' month. I guess I'll just have to open a case on eBay and get my money back and buy that movie from elsewhere. That's the only DBZ movie I don't have yet.

Snagged all 8 of these for $36. No idea if that's a good price but hey ho, they're purdy.

I checked around and the official ones were green too. These would seem to be legit.

Wow! That's so cool! The issue with Dragon Boy. You got to the very roots of Dragon Ball. It was worth 'digging' the Internet for that. You sure know what's good when it comes to DB stuff. Congrats'!

He wasn't calling them bootleg because of green!Pilaf, because even the official release uses Toriyama's green color scheme. He said it because of the obvious lack of quality in comparison to the official ones. :/

Yep. Pretty much.

Compare between the official picture and that picture you posted. Look closely at the feet especially on Shu and how it's not flat standing.

Hrm, I'm not sure that's indicative of a bootleg though. I have plenty of official figures that have issues standing perfectly on their bases. The only differences I see between what the initial photo and official listing would be the saturation and contrast of one vs. the other. The actual figures look the same unless I'm totally missing something here.

It's only really Whis' bent staff that makes me question it. This photo has been used for many listings though so it's not exclusive to what I bought.

EDIT: If you take a look at some photos people have posted of it, you can see they're those stiff cylindrical tabs that stuff into the bases. It would be make sense for someone to have not put them in properly for a single photo. It always seems that Whis' staff is pretty bendy anyway.
I guess we shall see. Here's hoping they don't turn up like these obvious bootlegs:
