Just as I suspected, this guy is not Character Creation and just a single custom character. Stay classy, Dragon Ball cycle.

Seems that way, though the Ultimate Blast/Tenkaichi defaults were even animated into the opening, and you could still customize them. So I won't rule out that there could be some possibility that he's your default custom character, and you can alter him for your play through or something, without absolutely solid confirmation.

At least, I'm hoping that is the case. I know I was asking for original game characters, and I'm very happy we're getting one, but this guy just has a horrible design. If there isn't a very good reason for why he looks like Gohan and Trunks fused into a Super Saiyan God, put Trunk's outfit back on, then stole Tenshinhan's Buu Arc cape and Raditz' scouter...and THIS was the BEST they could come up with...then they should have asked Toriyama to design the kid. He may not want to make manga anymore, but he doesn't seem to have problems designing characters here and there as of recent (Episode of Bardock, Battle of Gods).

Hmm...maybe you're right. I thought it was Dabura's cape, but perhaps it's Tenshinhan's.

I think he will be a create a character. I doubt he's a original character made for the game since the design is awful. It reminds me of the old AF fan art from the mid 2000's like in 2003 or 2004.

If this guy is that necessary, they should have just used that kid from Heroes then, at least he's something in his own right. This guy isn't remotely unique in any possible context...hes as generic as recouloured fan-fics can be, I seriously thought Dimps was better than that. I'm betting hes just a default.

I'm thinking the same thing, the guy has pretty much got to be a stand-in for a character creation (even if you only get one slot for him or whatever). There's just...I refuse to believe that much of a clusterfuck design could possibly be be what they'd use for a brand new character as-is. The way everything is thrown together has to be to show us a bunch of the options you can throw on there. Want hair that's not black, to re-use accessories like scouters, and mix and match various other character's outfits, even down to something like capes? Here ya go!

Course, I kinda hope they take the time to make a better character creator that lets you make more than just another Saiyan, and maybe even female characters...but that's probably wishing for too much.

It won't matter what his face looks like. Though this reminds me a lot of the default character featured in Ultimate Tenkaichi's advertisement who looked exactly the same as this guy. Perhaps its the same situation here.

According to the section featuring him, hes supposed to be an important character in the story. Really huh? From the brief plot line it sounds like hes going to be a spectating Goku worshiper who goes back in time for whatever melodramatic/trivial reason to go through all the classic fights and help the heroes, learn from them or be the naive burden to what changes the continuity. A story like that makes me groan a little if thats the main focus, a DB What-if requires exceptionally good writing just to avoid being cring worthy and seldom has it even been proven to be possible.

Has anyone else notice how this game will make the 15th dbz game for the last 3 console genertions 6th 7th and 8th and how the xv is the roman numeral for 15. Not important jus seein if anyone else saw it.

That trailer... :lol: Reminds me of one of FUNimation's promos from the early-mid 2000s.

I'm a lot more interested now that we know Dimps is involved. I did notice that the characters seem a lot less...dead. Facial expressions are a lot more animated and expressive this time around. might just pick this up...if I have a console at the time of release. :|

I didn't plus the year it's being released is 2015

I read that tien and other minor charecters are confirmed,Does anyone know who they are ?

Wow thread exploded.

Seeing Dimp back made me happy. Gameplay looks good, graphics too (characters' models need a little work but you mentioned that its alpha, so no problem). I don't care for neither story mode or character creation. Decent roster and I'm sold.

EDIT:
During E3 2014 there is a demo of the new Dragon Ball Z game Dragon Ball Xenoverse. Bandai Namco has noted on a few new details, read them below.

- You can cancel special moves.
- There is dialogue during the fight and will have voice acting.
- Tien and other minor characters confirmed.
- Characters show facial expressions when striking an opponent or taking damage.
- Demo ended showing the new futuristic city with the new fighter wearing the Capsule Corp. jacket.
- The new fighter and new area is key to the story.
- Releases 2015.

- Footage was very early in-game gameplay. I can’t emphasize “early” enough; and it still looked quite good.
- We saw three fights: Goku vs. Frieza, Cell, and Buu.

- “Big” character roster that will feature new characters.
- There is one “Mysterious” character that is a combination of various other Dragon Ball characters.
- Players can traverse the levels. Free-roaming in very large spaces. You can be fighting on a platform, go in the air, and then fight underwater.
- Real-time facial animations. This was actually quite impressive. Characters express emotions when hurt, injured, etc.
- Real-time transformations! Yes, you can go super saiyan mid-game. This also means that there won’t be separate characters for normal and super saiyan.
- Game is built on the Havok engine and is “new-gen first”; but will be a cross-gen release.

I think it's safe to say that this will be the best DBZ game ever made.

I got a few little nitpicks from that gameplay.

In the clip of Goku fighting Buu he goes from SSJ1 to SSJ3 when it should be SSJ2.

And some of the moves which have a cinematic view or camera go by too quick.

Dimp's involvement has peaked my interest. I've all but stopped caring for these games, but I feel Dimps has done some of the best games for the franchise. I still want to know how this plays, because it almost looks like they are taking a page from Spike's book. We'll see I guess.
