Was One Piece on a break last week? Either way, damn good rating for Super. Can't wait how much it dips by next week.

Sazae 14.2
Doraemon 9.5
Crayon Shin-chan 9.5
Chibi Maruko-chan 8.8
Detective Conan 8.4
Dragon Ball Super 6.7
Kindaichi Case Files R 6.3
Yokai Watch 5.4
Mahou Pretty Cure! 5.2
Pokemon XY & Z 3.9

Super follows its "bad ratings' path towards cancellation" (according to some).

These are the best numbers since episode 3, and close to series' high. It took a couple of weeks but it seems people are hearing about the new arc. It's probably a good thing that it was partially a recap.
Wow! Very nice!

And good for MahoPre. Even though it feels a lot like Futari wa and SplashStar, hopefully it can bring enough new stuff in to help it stand out from them.
On hiatus.

I thought episode Episode 729 aired last week for one piece. However, I can't see it falling so hard either.

One Piece was interrupted mid-recap because North Korea launched that missile. Full story here: http://onepiecepodcast.com/2016/02/07/o ... bruary-14/

Lol, we got super close to a 7 with a recap episode. I'm feeling more hopeful about us getting into 7 territory once the tournament starts.

No one knew that the episode is only a recap.Fans judge the episode based on the NEP.The NEP of episode 29 probably hype some Gohan/Piccolo fans.

The people that don't watch regularly, and as such actually INFLUENCE the ratings, don't watch the recaps either.

http://www.tvguide.or.jp/ranking/timerr ... index.html

DVR Rating: 25th of January - 31th of January
1st: Lupin III - 100.0
2nd: Yokai Watch - 88.8
3rd: Doraemon - 84.1
4th: One Piece - 82.7
5th: Boku Dake ga Inai Machi - 68.8
6th: Detective Conan - 65.7
7th: Mobile Suit Gundam - 64.5
8th: Gintama - 60.5
9th: Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (TV) 2nd Season - 54.6 (Up 1)
10th: Dragon Ball Super (Episode 29) - 53.8 (Down 1)

Super had the second worst performance since it began, worst since episode 18. Poor Goku, he can't even handle a room full of wannabe killers.

Yet, on the other side of the coin, Super pulled in its best TV rating since episode 3. I wonder why more people were compelled to DVR the episode?

I was just saying that it was funny that we got one of the highest ratings in the series and it was a recap episode. I wasn't imply people were tuning in because it was a recap.

Those DVR ratings are for the episode before the recap episode.

One thing that concerns me: Based on the guides on this website, the ratings for even GT were WAY better. Like, even the worst episode for ratings in GT was still significantly better than the best episode of Super so far. Are there other factors I'm missing or is this legitimate cause for concern? I'm really loving super and would hopefully like to see it run as long as possible.

Thats just because there are a lot more television and channels in japan now. So ratings go down by default on all animes.

That makes sense, thank you. I hadn't really considered it. I guess it's all relative to the market share; that being said, are DBS's ratings considered "good"?
