I can spare 50 GB of disk space if you want.

Just promise not to exceed 300 GB of bandwidth.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

SEAN'S COMPUTER UPDATE!

I've purchased and installed a new Hard drive, and I've reinstalled Windows XP. Now, I'm trying to get the various Dell hardware drivers and software installed so that things will work the way they did before, but doing so is proving to be a pain in the tuchus (Any pointers would be deeply appreciated).

I have tomorrow (Wednesday) off from everything, so I'll be able to get a lot done then. But even provided I manage to get this pesky stuff installed, I probably won't be able to get my data for the project and stuff retreived and ready to resume work until the weekend, at the earliest.

Awesome! Glad to know your computer's on its way to being fixed. Hopefully putting everything back together for it will go okay... but, at least things look like they'll be resuming shortly. I happen to have midterms next week (and studying for them shall likely take a while D: ), but hopefully once the actual recording starts I'll have time to spare. Just gotta keep this rolling...

In the meantime, though, when not busy with school stuff... trailer-line recording. C'mon, Kino, it's not that hard... @_@
Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.

Midterms? Aw, that sucks. I happen to have Spring Break next week... :D

Oh, and...

SEAN'S COMPUTER UPDATE!

My laptop is up and running again! I'm making this post from it, in fact. I've got most of my software reinstalled, and right now I'm trying to download various files both inside and out of the dub project, as a lot of my stuff ended up online in one form or another, as I'm sure I said.

I'm trying to set up a conference to pick Goku sometime in the next few days (Check your E-mail, Kino!), but in the meantime, the rest of y'all can get to recording your lines for Conan's trailer.

Thanks! And do we have any idea of how we want the logo to be like? That's what I needed the name for lol.

And are we going to be using the Dragonball Z logo, or come up with something different?

And could I get the katakana of the Japanese titles of the movie?

Okay, first off, in regards to Steven Perry's latest work: awesome! The music for the restoration clip is pretty. And the "Let That Child Alone: Remastered"... was amusing. xDDD

On another note, though, I need to make a request of everyone participating in the project. Please read this and comply as soon as possible if you can, please!

I'm still in need of some people's contact information. Please, if you haven't sent me your email addresses or I'm names yet (or if you've changed them recently for whatever reason), tell me them ASAP! This applies to everyone who's gotten involved with the project since the first round of auditions as well as to people who never got their contact info to me in the first place.

I'm keeping track of everyone working with the project and what they're doing. There are going to be certain times when we need to discuss or do something with the people participating, so the ability to contact you outside of PMs is very important. (I know not everyone logs into the forum every day or even every few days, so PMs aren't really reliable if we need someone's assistance soon...)

I know some of you might not remember whether you've already gotten your info to me yet. Also, I know quite a few people who expressed interest in the project initially have since decided not to participate in it. So, I've kinda figured the best way to fix both problems is to show the list I have currently and let people have a look at it. That way, people will be able to figure out if they still need to get their contact info to me, and they can say whether their name is missing from the list (if they still want in on it) or if they'd like their name removed from it. Also, since I'm noting who does what on there, it'd be very helpful if you looked over your entry in there and let me know what jobs you're doing that I need to add (or what you're not doing so I can take it off).

HERE IS THE LIST THUS FAR. PLEASE DOWNLOAD IT AND LOOK IT OVER CAREFULLY.

It might clutter up the thread a bit if people start replying about the list here proper, so if you can, please send me any information that needs to be changed via PMs or email (it shouldn't be too hard to find that; I've got it listed).

PLEASE BE TO UPDATING ME, KTHX. I'd greatly appreciate the assistance... @___@;;

... On a side note, please don't use any of the emails included in the list to bug other people on the forum. Some of them don't have them listed on their profiles for a reason.... DDDDDDD:

*wonders if she can make a double-post like this considering the previous one was made several days ago and this has nothing to do it* >___>;

Hey, guys! Update on the FTP problem. I think I might have an answer!

I did a little searching, and I've found a tutorial for setting up an FTP server on one's computer. If anyone was looking to put one up on their computer to transfer the video rips (capsuleman and Kaboom, maybe?), this should help you guys out. (At the very least, though, you need Windows and constant broadband to use this, so you might not want to try it with an Apple computer.)

The page has a link to an FTP client you can download, but I'll link it here so setting up goes a little faster:

Serv-U FTP client download

The thing I just linked here is a trial version, but it works a little differently than most do. It runs a Corporate version of the program until it expires, then just switches to a Personal version or something like that. Apparently it works pretty well even after the trial, though (and hopefully it won't take as long as thirty days to transfer the video files anyway), so it looks like it'll be okay to use.

I'm thinking of setting up an FTP server on my own computer as well so I can host these files if necessary, but if the persons who actually need to set one up do so, that'll probably get the job done. Hope this helps, if you were at a conundrum about what to do. ^^;

Ooh, awesome.

I was thinking of setting up something on my own computer. I have plenty of HD space, and could hold at least a good amount of footage and stuff. I wouldn't be able to leave my computer (laptop) constantly on and connected, since I carry it around with me to school and such. But if people let me know ahead of time when they need to get stuff, I can make sure to have it on and accessible when they need it.

So yeah, I think I'll used this software and set my laptop up as a modest little FTP server. But I can't do all of it myself; a few other folks will have to do the same.

Knots in my stomach... Oh, the knots!

Post by Kaboom » Mon Mar 26, 2007 6:17 pm

Well, folks, I'm not really sure what the F***to do.

I know things have slowed down A LOT with the dub, and a good chunk of it's my fault. I've gotten very little done on my end that I was supposed to (Damned college and work interfering in my dub-directing time! Grrr!). Looks like Jerseymilk and Timo's warnings from the early pages are starting to become reality; people are losing interest left and right.

At this point, it's really up to you guys. If I've still most of your dedication and support on this, then cool, we'll keep moving forward, however slowly and surely. We've got our cast picked, and a lot of other things decided, so providing we move forward, now is when things would really start getting interesting, and we can probably have a finished product in time for any of us involved who meet up this summer at Otakon to have a "private premiere showing" of it, which was one of the things I was hoping and aiming for.

Otherwise, we can put this on the shelf (for now), and move on to other things. There are other projects and neat ideas, albeit none as drastic as a fandub, to do both with and without yous guys that I've thought of, but haven't brought up or tried doing because I didn't want them to interfere with this. If we take the first course of action, then hopefully the day would come soon when we'd be able to pick it up again and finish.

With that said, I have a small update or two...
  • I've just about finished the final script. It's really just a 2.0 of mine, with a good amount of the stuff from Shinpan's version included. But it's pretty good.
  • Taku128 has, unfortunately, become unable to keep his voice role as Raisin. I figured I'll just voice those, like, 3 lines, since it doesn't make sense to hold any more auditions.
  • I've not heard from Shinpan, like, ever... So I may end up doing the art for the poster on my own, with nathantheguitarist doing the lettering, if he's still so inclined. If she can't manage to do it for one reason or another, then we may need someone else to sing "Cha-la," which I have received splendid, well-fitting (I know the are, I sang them to mself) English lyrics for from Taku.
  • Thanks to the program linked to me by Kino, I've gotten an FTP server set up on my PC for the footage. However, there are two small problems. One, I don't have as much space on my new hard drive as I did on my old one, so I probably won't be able to store (all) of the footage, and two, even though I managed to set it up, I'm not sure on how to make it available for you guys to access. Acid_Reign has experience with FTPs, perhaps he can help me.
  • I'm waiting to hear from one last contestant to pick a Goku VA. Whether he manages to get what I need to me or not, I'll have someone picked for that within a few days.

So there you have it guys. Please, give me some feedback; I really need it.

This week and the next are fairly heavy with schoolwork for me, but I'm still interested in the project and will have the time to do my va-ing if we're able to get that far.

I'd really enjoy taking part in it if we can get it up and running again.
Having this fandub shown at Otakon would be so awesome. X3

Have you tried to contact AnnouncerGuy (Shinpan) via DeviantArt's "Notes" pm-ing system?

Well, not as in some big production where we premiere it to an audience full of people, or anything. I mean, a few of us who plan to meet up doing so at someone's hotel room and popping the DVD in while we all make popcorn and talk loudly about nerdy DragonBall stuff and wreck the room.

I'm still in this project, sink or swim. I agree that it's slow, but the pace should be quickened.
If anything, we should start recording. The script's pretty much finished, and we have all our voice actors here 'cept Goku's, right? Make things a little faster, me thinks.

Damn...that sounds...awesome. If someone got me a DVD of it, I could show it to some people at Animethon, which I may attend this year. If not, that's ok =)

I can store a bit of the footage if you need me to. And regarding access, you'll probably have to set up an account with password using the FTP program, then give us the address. No idea how you're gonna do that, but just a theory.
