Well, consider what he did to finish Cold. He used two generic ki blasts which probably didn't even have that much power behind them. If Cold had been in this form, he would have to use more power than that to finish him off... It would still be easy, but not as simple.

And, even looking at how he killed Freeza, he only defeated Freeza that easily because he snuck up behind him and cut him in half with his sword... Practically speaking, its almost the same thing as a fighter sneaking up on another with a Kienzan and killing him... If he actually hadn't used his sword to finish off Freeza, perhaps Freeza would have offered him a decent fight before being defeated...

Honestly, his line could just be interpreted as saying "Hey, I'm really surprised that you are actually stronger that I thought you were when I killed you! The fight wouldn't have been so simple if I had let you transform, especially if you had teamed up with Freeza!".

It still doesn't add up, though, because here's a guy who is looking for revenge on some dude he doesn't know much about but what he does know is that his name is Goku and he has at minimum a power level of 120,000,000. So why is he going into a fight in a repressed form at all if he has substantially more than 120,000,000 in reserve? It wouldn't be the first time a Dragon Ball villain did something dumb out of arrogance but this goes beyond arrogance into complete brain dead stupid. Even Freeza knew to transform when Piccolo showed up with enough power to challenge his second form.

King Cold probably knew that, as Freeza said, Freeza had become even stronger than Super Saiyan Goku and could probably defeat him on his own. With Trunks, he assumed that the sword was the reason behind Trunks' victory over Freeza, and once he realized his miscalculation, he had a hand on his chest that was going to blast him into the next world in two seconds.

And I don't think that this page is necessarily saying that this form is King Cold's true form. All Coola says is that he dropped his restricted form. It's not plural, but still. It's not as if he dropped more than one restricted form.

I like the design, but then again I don't. It has some good elements to it that I think are rendered ineffective by the failures. All in all, he makes me think of a skinny brain-dead person who is trying on mismatched sports gear. I think the design would have been a lot better if they had just made it seem like his chest armor fit him right. His waist look too disproportional to the armor on his chest and shoulders. (If it weren't for the football pad looking wings, I'd think he was wearing a sports bra.)

Not in my opinion. The hunched over look helps to give a realistic feeling to Freeza being top heavy, and while I may not like that he looks like a hunchback, it still works because of how small his frame is there. Cold just doesn't have a believable feel to me. Had they hunched him, even just a little bit more than they did, and then fixed his armor a bit, it would have made a world of difference to me. Even something simple like this (armor fix, I'm not redrawing it to hunch him over. lol original on the right, fix on the left.)

In the english dub of Kai it was something to the effect of, "I hadn't had this much of a workout since I was a young boy training with my father".

Also, that fan coloring is great. I noticed that the dome in his second form was blue, and here it was changed to purple

None of them know how to sense power levels, so taking Cooler's word for it wouldn't be smart, that's just him being an arrogrant prick. I personally think this puts Cold either on Par or stronger than Cooler, but definitely stronger than Frieza

Wonder what the gravity is like where they're fighting that it makes holding an already heavy as fuck sword even harder. Still rootin for Videl here, it seems they didn't beef her up like so many people thought just because she pulled out the Z-Sword. Looks like she's the underdog in this match up. Going to be an interesting fight
