Here's the link to the blog, if anybody's still interested. It's got a bunch of DB news spread throughout.

Since the quote about the fullscreen confirmation had better grammar, I'm guessing it was said somewhere else where the writer had more time to type.

Would you guys really want to hear Cha-La in English? Would sound weird to me. And only person I can picture singing it is Sandy Fox who doesn't Funi shows.B wrote:JUMP SPECIAL JUMP SPECIAL JUMP SPECIALJulieYBM wrote:Hmmm...I wonder...maybe a full screen release of DBZ?The audience was apparently also told to stay tuned for more information regarding the series within the next month, so we'll be on the lookout for that.

I liked it, but the voice didn't seem to match the show. It's a good version, but I don't see it working as a regular dub opening.Puto wrote:It's not like it hasn't been done before...

I'd love to hear "Head-Cha-La" in English. No singer is going to be able to replace Kageyama, but that doesn't mean I don't like to see FUNi try. The GT songs got me really excited about the possibility for proper dubs of DB's gigantic library of songs.
Well, now that these have been confirmed to be uncropped, I really can't think of any reason to hold onto my Tournament Saga set. Video quality will undoubtedly be better on the upcoming sets, and the audio is going to be better since the Japanese track is staying in mono and the dub is getting a 5.1 remix. The dub audio mixes were terrible on the old DVDs; I could hardly hear the musical score. The 5.1 remix will fix this since the dialogue-music-sounds balance on the new sets is almost perfect.
I'm not really bothered by the loss of alternate angles since the only thing we're going to lose is the Japanese title cards, which I know the translations of via the subtitles anyway. With all of that out of the way, I can't really imagine how any aspect of these upcoming sets could possibly be worse than the old two-discers.
E-Bay, here I come! Maybe I can still sell it for a good amount of money.

I am incredibly excited that this has been confirmed. Thanks to the GT and Z sets I have been able to go back and watch most of the show in its original japanese and discover a new facet of the story (that vaguely sounded like what a Funimation infomercial might). Now, with these coming out, I can finally finish.
The confirmation of 4:3 is also amazing! I didn't horribly mind the 16:9 Z sets, but I would obviously prefer to get in its original 4:3. My only concern now is that they might "remaster" this thing to death. Though as long, as it is better than Z season 3, I won't bitch TOO much.

I'd like to point out that the guy at the FUNimation panel told me, one one one, that it would be widescreen. c.c

When I talked to the guy who was answering questions at the FUNimation panel, I asked him, "Is the first set of DragonBall going to be widescreen or fullscreen, like in the trailer?"Big Boss wrote:w-w-w-what did you say?KaiserNeko wrote:I'd like to point out that the guy at the FUNimation panel told me, one one one, that it would be widescreen. c.c
He responded, "Like the DBZ sets, it's going to be widescreen."
I said God damnit, thanked him for answering me, and walked off.

The conflicting reports strike again. We shouldn't have to wait until one of us is holding the freaking thing in their hands to know what the aspect ratio will be.
