Then get a job! The minute I heard, I logged on to Target.com and put in an application. I need a job before, but now it's time to get serious.
It's not that easy when you're a 14 year-old. And since my family wants to be cheap when it comes to them paying me for doing work for them, I've got no luck.

Maybe I'll win the lottery and buy out all of the sets, just to be a douche?
If you have any good deals for me I can see what I can do, I see you want these bad so maybe I can help.

I've got nothing that I really want to sell. And the only Dragonball merchandise that I have organized, are my Viz DBZ volumes, but I wanna keep those. Sure, I've got a few posters(Two Posters...Seriously), but I have nothing that can benefit your deal, but thanks, my friend.
No, I want to help you.. I will buy you Dragon Box for free. But next time, you have to have some thing I want. A merchandise is fine (One poster is fine as long as I'm going to get a hand on it)

I have a LOT of DBZ singles.

Then FUNi came out with the Ultimate Uncut releases, which were supposed to have comprised of the episodes they previously didn't have from Pioneer. It had one of DBZ's best dubs, and the Spanish dub, but still lacked appropriate openings and closings or previews. Then they abruptly stopped, leaving me with an incomplete collection.

Then an image hit the Internet of a season set of Dragon Ball Z, featuring remastered video. We thought they were bringing us Dragon Box. It wasn't. Then we found out it was cropped into widescreen, lost the Spanish track, still had the wrong credits, and no previews. Not to mention the remastering was a joke. I refused to buy any of the bricks. I knew FUNi would bring us something better someday. Why should I buy a knowingly inferior product? I decided to wait.

I just didn't think it would come this soon.

Even FUNi's reps in the video admitted they never thought they were get the Dragon Box. Toei told them it was for Japan only. I guess their relationship is improving.

"We didn't change a damn thing."

Quote of the fucking year.

"Can you feel the Dragon Box's power??? IT'S OVER 9,000!!!!!!!!"

Wait, THAT'S the quote of the year.

Now I wonder about that upcoming Dragon Ball set. How can I possibly buy it? I fully expect Dragon Box releases of DB and DBGT sometime down the road now.

I'm also shocked to see the dub fans' negative reactions to this, just because it might not have the version of the dub or music that "they" like. Someone posted something about 200 pages ago along the lines of, "Now you know how we've felt for the past 13 years."

DAMN FUCKING RIGHT.

Thank you, guys, but I'd like to get a hand on these by myself. I'm sure I can do a few lawn-mowing jobs and get the money. A teen's gotta do what a teen's gotta do. But once again, thank you generously for your offers to help. :)

Ok, I've been out most of the day due to a stupid family thing I didn't want to be a part of in the first place. I barely managed to catch the DBox news on the front page shortly before being forcefully dragged out and was looking forward to jumping over here all day.

When I started reading this thread it was 36 pages. By the time I read the whole thing we're on 40.

This looks to be the single definitive English release of DBZ. I really can't wait. On the dub side, I'd like to have the same options we had on the orange bricks, but if we only get one dub track, I want it to be the Kikuchi one as opposed to the Faulconer one. I want this thing to have everything possible on it.

Yeah, this is really amazing. To make Daizex members swoon like this, FUNi has redeemed itself, somewhat.

You know... I find it hysterical that FUNi CAN NOT do a Dragon Ball Z Release without pissing AT LEAST ONE Group of people off. It can't be done, it's an impossibility.

First Release - Ocean Dub Only DVDs - Self Explanatory, Edited, No Japanese Version, RAAAAAAAAAAAGE!!
Second Release - FUNi Dub, Hybrid DVDs - Released the whole series in Singles, but OH WAIT, no first Two story arcs (I know this one was out of FUNi's hands, but still)
Third Release - Ultimate Uncuts - LOL, STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RELEASE!!
Fourth Release - The Orange Bricks - Widescreeen, Washed out Colors and line detail for the first few seasons.
Fifth Release - Dragon Box Z - This release means that every single Non-Casual Fan who bought the Orange Bricks now Wasted 200-300 Bucks.
Also the Dubbies are going nuts over this one.

We can't Win!! XD

Nope. Which means Funi will probably be adding more content. Can't wait to see what it is.
Most definitely, but there's a chance that the majority of the content will be straight from the original Dragon Books. People are forgetting that the size of the originals were much larger (about the size of two DVD cases put together). These new FUNi books fit into a regular sized box, so they're about the size of one DVD case. In other words, 1 page of JP content could equal 2 pages of FUNi content.

In that case...
128 x 2 = 256

256 x 2 = 512
-------------------
80 x 7 = 560

Pretty close, although this is assuming that the pages work out like that. I'm still positive that FUNi will be adding a lot of their own material, though.
If the dub is truly included, then I expect coverage of the dub which would include box art and information on name changes. Probably the differences in episode titles as well. I just hope the same content in the original is in this new book.

Same Content + Dub content hopefully.
I wouldn't wana lose ANY of the Japanese content, and I hope it's presented Faithfully, but the Dub does exist and it has fans, so new information getting added to the books to benefit them would be nice too so long as none of the Original content is removed for it.

I just want the Kikuchi one. We can't jam-pack these discs, we need as much space as possible for the best bit rate possible! Not only that but please make sure that all of the BGM is in the DragonBox's English track. Piccolo's Death and Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 transformation seemed pretty bland without them. :)

I doubt they'd put on Falconer's score, that shit is just tiresome, and since the Orange Bricks defaults were Japanese music, why not? It's like with this release they're just cleaning up their previous shits, only without dubbing it properly.

Putting the Japanese track as the default is like saying "We'll never redub it, so just keep watching it in Japanese."

Hopefully this will start a trend with releasing things properly in the US...

Like if we got totally uncut Mobile Suit Gundam Memorial Boxes from Bandai...

That's the reason I hope to dear god they get Dragon Ball Kai.

Seriously, that would give them a clean slate. Then Take the FUNimation we have NOW, with the Voice acting Pool they have to draw from now and the talent they have now.
Give the scripts to the team who is Writing One Piece?

BAM! Finally a DBZ dub I might actually WATCH!!

Well, as soon as I get my Dragon Box, I'm going to rip the video onto my computer and crop 25% off. That way it'll fill my widescreen TV, like Funimation told me it should back in 2006.

You don't need to rip it or edit the video to make it fit a widescreen TV, there should be a digest button on one of your remotes for that.

...yes, I agree. Plus a definitive release of Mobile Suit Gundam in the U.S. would be nice, especially since all we've had since 2001 are dub-only DVDs. I love them since they're apparently quite rare now and still watch them on occasion, but I've wanted a dual-language version for years. When the DVD sets came out in Japan back in 2006 and 2007, I was hoping that the U.S. would get the same release...nothing yet, though.

Ah, the Mobile Suit Gundam boxes and the Memorial Boxes - the Dragon Boxes of Gundam. Maybe someday, eh?

Now for back on topic, all I really care about is the best possible visual and audio quality obtainable. I think two audio tracks is more than enough already, plus it makes sense that FUNimation seems to be steering away from the dub music - after all, they don't completely make up new music for the dubs of their other titles, why Dragon Ball? It's nice to see FUNimation finally giving it the same respect as the other titles under their belt, which has always been an issue with me.

I think what I'm looking forward to most though is the vocal themes - Unmei no Hi, Mind Power, if this is going to be a straight Dragon Box release then they'll all be there. I definitely can't wait for them on a U.S. DVD.

Well, that was a joke (hence the "like Funimation told me" bit), but since you brought it up, the zoom buttons on most widescreen TVs don't work like they should. Oftentimes they are off-center in one way or another, and when they aren't, they almost always zoom in more than is necessary, cutting off the sides instead of just the top and bottom.

If you absolutely MUST watch a 4:3 program in 16:9 or you have a non-anamorphic widescreen movie, the best way to deal with it is to rip the video and cut the offending parts out yourself. Seriously, you can find easy-to-understand guides on this if you know where to look.

EDIT: On the off chance you meant stretching the picture instead of zooming: No. Just no. Never. Absolutely not. People who stretch their movies make me want to murder them in their sleep.

You guys worry too much. Do you think Funimation will ruin the perfect release? I mean this is Dragon Box masters we are talking about here. This is not the same as Remastered masters. They are kinda cheap but still good masters but not as good as Dragon Box. So quit worry about it and look forward to the awesomeness that we have been waiting for in decade! :D

Good thing you aren't old farts

*yawn* I probably should be hitting they hay due to reading excessive amount of posts in this awesome thread!
