Re: DragonBall Z Kai - Cable TV Version (NickToons)
Oh dear... I absolutely hate FUNi's pronunciation of 'Gero'.
Re: DragonBall Z Kai - Cable TV Version (NickToons)
I never thought "Instant Transmission" sounded wrong. I think it makes sense.
One of the definitions for "transmit" is "to pass or cause to go from one place or person to another."
And Goku instantly does that, so... How the hell is that "very wrong"?

Instant Transmission makes me think of an electronic message that arrives 'instantly'.

"Transmission" just doesn't sound like a martial arts technique, nor something Goku would say, nor like an actual word someone would use for the technique. Instant Movement, Teleportation, those could have been used. Instant Transmission just sounds... wrong.MugiMikey wrote:I never thought "Instant Transmission" sounded wrong. I think it makes sense.

True; I'll give you that about it's something Goku wouldn't say, but to be fair, "Instantaneous Movement" sounds... a bit too wordy and literal for him. Maybe that's just me.
Nit-picking aside, I still think it's a decent translation.

Instant Movement and Teleportation. Those would have worked too.MugiMikey wrote:True; I'll give you that about it's something Goku wouldn't say, but to be fair, "Instantaneous Movement" sounds... a bit too wordy and literal for him. Maybe that's just me.

Yeah, I know. Those seem more logical for Goku's character.
I'm still fine with what we have, though. Like someone else mentioned before, perhaps it'll be changed on the DVD/BD release.

He isn't a person during IT, he moves as beam of light doesnt he?...or just that fast?JulieYBM wrote:Instantaneous Movement is "moving from one place to another instantaneously." That is teleportation. A transmission is an electronic, digital, or radio signal being sent. People aren't any of those things.
Also, Good lord the Frieza slice was butchered terribly. I weap for people who are ONLY able to see the editted and re-eddited version on TV.

So is this the tv discussion now, or still the other one? Know this was the edits, but am now confused.

I was trying to bring up something from Today's episode; how Frieza being sliced in half was super editted and didn't feel like it was much of anything compared ot the original.

It's the Nicktoons version discussion, not just the edits on Nicktoons.Super Sonic wrote:So is this the tv discussion now, or still the other one? Know this was the edits, but am now confused.

Oh wow. Finally we have the name "Tsuno" for that Village Elder that Vegeta killed in English. It didn't exist for the Viz release of the manga, and it didn't exist for the Funimation release too. The first Dragon Ball related result of (Tsuno Dragon Ball) in Google is my thread made on this forum talking about how obscure he is to give you an idea how obscure the character's name is. I'm curious how Funimation spells it.

My theory's ringing true, they showed Frieza's chopped up before Goku heals him. Tis a no gore policy (Can't show the detached legs/arm).

Watched the episode with closed captions on and it spelled his name the same way you did.Khalid Shahin wrote:Oh wow. Re: DragonBall Z Kai - Cable TV Version (NickToons)
I guess I should've realized this earlier.
It makes sense now, Frieza's death talk must have been censored out to avoid being seen as the threatening kind of death, which has always been censored. Meh, I guess I'll take it. It still kind of sucks but atleast Gohan uses the word killed.
Edit: Quick thought. They claim they're flash editing hits so it won't be imitated right?
How in the hell did THIS not get edited out, then? You'd think it would have sirens flashing since.... a kid were to imitate THAT....

So, I started comparing episodes from the 4th set now and I gotta say - It almost looks as if, whoever is doing these digital edited, only paint Piccolo's blood when it's easy for them to do so.
This image is something I just threw together....

Re: DragonBall Z Kai - Cable TV Version (NickToons)
Actually, many martial-arts techniques have names that make no sense for reasons unknown or because the original language words used are unconventional. "Transmission" would fit right in. And no, I'm not talking about puns.KaiserNeko wrote:"Transmission" just doesn't sound like a martial arts technique, nor something Goku would say, nor like an actual word someone would use for the technique.
