It's interesting to me how popular Oceanus Shenron seems to be; any explanations for why that is?

She's cute and the only female dragon, so she has more fans and fanarts than all the other dragons except maybe Omega who was main villain afterall.
I wouldn't say she's that much popular, but she has some fanbase for sure.

actually 18 and 21 are the most popular.
popular in comparison to? zangya and fasha have more images than her, that is very bit but despite is really a male dragon would say that it is quite moderate in comparison to other cof cof "west kaioshin"

Was it ever confirmed that Oceanus is male? I always considered Oceanus to be female, just ugly like Zarbon. Afterall, she was blushing seeing Goku naked and behaved like female all the time, so unless it's some kind of transexual character i would say she is a very ugly girl.
Or they simply don't officialy have genders and are genderless, like Digimon, but have gender-specific appearances and behaviours.

Tbh i'm waiting and hoping for her to appear in DB Legends since all female characters for now (#18 & Pan) have "Female warriors" tag and i'm curious if Oceanus will have it as well.

He joked in part, but in my Dub he always said that this was really his " true form". Many take for granted that he is a man by appearance and voice.
its feminine form is only to deceive the fishermen, in that is different to zarbon since it does not make it stronger making it really unnecessary to have 2 forms but in any case its gender has never been clarified but the dragons may probably not have it
since there are creatures that they do not have it like the "Supreme Kais" case they have no gender but some look like and have the feminine or masculine personality
