Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 78
Higashide wasn't on this episode, it's always nice to see that because it increases the chances that his next appearance will be of substance. Counting today's episode it's be 3 weeks since Inaba Jin showed up and 4 since Miuma Kenji showed up, I've got my fingers cross that all 3 of these guys don't show up on 80 and they provide some nice stuff for the final fight of the exhibition.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 78
Sawaki Noborisa has been working on Super since 68 (did some KA), did some KA for 74, and Supervisor on this episode. Also did some KA for the OP. She has worked for a variety of different studios. So obviously she's not Toei staff. I really wonder which Studio is she from ? 68 was Wanpack, but I really don't know whether she works for them or not. Also saw some Korean names on the KA list. So looks like the KA was outsourced to a Japanese studio(Sawaki and her team) and a Korean studio. Interesting.Ajay wrote:
As I said in my post, there's no Wanpack on this episode. There were three teams, which Toei separated in the credits layout: one from Ono, one from Tate, and one from Sawaki. I'll have to take a better look later and see where everyone's from.
The staff list makes sense given all that, but my point was more, "Oh god, it took this much to get the episode done!" Kinda crazy.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 78
So looks like next week will definitely be a Wanpack episode. It will be interesting to see how manabe works with Wanpack.

The episode wasn't Tate's best, but still was very satisfying. Some interesting character animation and some nice polish, plus the episode itself had some nice content. All in all a good episode. Next week is Kinoshita Yui, so obviously a Wanpack episode. I hope we get this level of outsourcing on a regular level.

His art is rather polished compared to his last 2 episodes (I think this is him anyways).Sodhi wrote:So looks like next week will definitely be a Wanpack episode. It will be interesting to see how manabe works with Wanpack.

Reminds me a lot of his art in Vegeta VS Black in episode 63, the nose especially.
Tsuji is probably going to carry half of the episode I bet.

Let Tate solo an episode full of battles. And give him a bunch of time. Hopefully an epic battle.JazzMazz wrote:I'm pretty sure that scene was definitely done by him though, his corrections can be spotted throughout the episode, for example Buu's finishing attack is a scene that was corrected by Tate, but the Toppo scene is pratically 1:1 with Tates effects output on the series.Gashif Aldi wrote:I mean, he's the Supervisor of the second half. Everything in the second half is corrected by Tate. He only did a bit of animation, but I don't know which one.Shreyas_Singh wrote:Was that "Toppo blocking buu's blast" scene Tate? I saw his style of drawing hands and lighting.

I usually don't like beams in Super but damn Buus Kamehameha was beautiful. I also really liked the beams in episode 65 so it seems like Tate knows what he's doing in that regard. I loved this episode but at the same time I'm a little dissapointed. I thought Tate would go wild with Boo.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 78
It's probably better that he didn't. It's important for the less important fights (including all of the exhibition match) to remain at least fairly conservative. Hopefully Tate has another chance to animate with Buu later in the arc.kinisking wrote:I usually don't like beams in Super but damn Buus Kamehameha was beautiful. Did anyone check the latest Tiger mask episode?
Seriously, that series has literally no a single bad looking episode.
The latest one look especially well made.
It is weird seen a studio struggle with one series and at the same time, delivering such good results with another

Tate is the best, man. I really hope he becomes the character designer in the near future. When we see his polished work looks so amazing I can't even describe it.
The animation of this episode was really good, especially the cut somebody already posted:

Loved it. Long live Tate.

If Tsutomu Ono isn't from Wanpack, then which Studio does he belong to ? Any idea anyone ?

Archah runs Animator's Corner, so he's familiar with aspects of the industry.A Man named RJ wrote:This 1 post ID walking up in here like he knows something.... methinks we have an actual member of the production here, lol.Archah wrote:Believe me, no Wanpack today. Big KA list doesn't mean Wanpack.ArchedThunder wrote:As far as the key animators list goes I'm pretty sure there's lots of Wanpack on there, so the size make sense. Two storyboarders, two directors and three supervisors is a different story, but I guess it might have been done to get stuff done quicker..
He seems to be working under Ono supervision, so first we need to get rid of Ono =·PJulieYBM wrote:Ohara's connection must not be through any of the producers. I wish he would try to get in contact with them and work as an animation supervisor. If he was able to turn in a half episode twenty years ago he could probably do a solo episode.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 78
Tate's cut this episode, was probably the best piece of conservative animation that Super has to offer. I would even say it's better than Futoshi Highashide's cut from #48.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 78
About Today's KA list...
Why I'm actually surprised that one of Super's best episodes had a small KA list compared to Attack on Titan? Are all of AoT animators newbie? They got like 150 Key Animators per episode.
Just thinking like, if all of them are talented. Their work are really minimum. Well, maybe that's what freelancers do.

Late again, but the second half was good. Tate's presence was felt for the most part and I loved his Gokuu. The Basil and Boo cut was nice. Good FX animation.
But, the staff list was not good. It is worrying. Hopefully, it's only a one time thing.

Tiger Mask and Appli Monsters both regularly have staff sizes comparable to this, and outside of Toei other shows regularly have huge staff sizes, for instance Pokemon. I'm not going to worry about it, if anything I'm going to hope we see large staff lists more often.

Does anybody have any idea what Yashima corrected? I'm still stunned seeing him in the 2nd key list and nothing in the episode jumps out as looking like him.
I'm pretty sure it's Manabe, ear and head shape are a match and the eyebrows and nose are similar to eyebrows and noses that he's drawn in the past.Mazingerdestro wrote: The art here reminds me of Higashide+Wanpack

Its gonna be quite awkward watching Gohan fighting with a purple eye makeup. I wonder if they'll keep the changes in the NEP, looked brighter but with less saturation or something.
