The translation is correct in that it gets the message across properly, but the comedy is lost in the way the line is worded.TonyTheTiger wrote:What's wrong with the translation here?

I don't see anything wrong with the wording at all. I think this might be a case of someone expecting something to be faulty, so taking the translation at face value to start with.batistabus wrote:The translation is correct in that it gets the message across properly, but the comedy is lost in the way the line is worded.TonyTheTiger wrote:What's wrong with the translation here?
Anyway, isn't this the first time Videl was shown to do an actual Ki blast? I mean of course she was already showing incredible ki control, but I just thought that was interesting.

Tomorrow, instead of a new page, there will be a minicomic.

This is unclear, and sounds like a grammar issue. Is he talking about all the time or just in that very instant? It should either read "Nobody EVER pays attention to me...", "Why is nobody paying attention to me", "Nobody's paying attention to me", or something to that effect.

Although you may be technically correct, I think that is just nitpicking to be honest.batistabus wrote:"Nobody pays attention to me."Kingdom Heartless wrote:with the wording at all. Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Honestly, this is the first translation error that actually bothered me, because it's the only one that needed to be correct to be effective. For the rest of the dialogue, it just needs to get the point across. It's not like this is Shakespearean writing anyway. But for comedy, wording is important.rereboy wrote: Although you may be technically correct, I think that is just nitpicking to be honest.

I agree. If I was in charge of the writing, something like this would work best in my honest opinion.batistabus wrote:Honestly, this is the first translation error that actually bothered me, because it's the only one that needed to be correct to be effective. Old Kaioshin(2nd panel): "Finally... I have finally been freed!"
Old Kaioshin(last panel): "...And nobody cares."
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
It has been suggested before in this thread, but its actually pretty simple to create our own rectified version of DBM. We just have to edit the text ballons.
A quick example:

I forgot to use bold on the text but it gets the point across.
So, if you disagree, you can always suggest alternative translations and share with us. That way, everybody who is saving the pages of this manga can also save the alternatives or just the one they prefer.
Since the english translation has been somewhat of a "problem", this would actually be useful for people.

Yeah, I get it now. A case of translating the words too literally. I seriously think DBM should have an English editor. I get that Salagir is pretty fluent but there are just these minor idiosyncracies that could greatly benefit from a native speaker just glancing over the translations and making adjustments where necessary. I don't understand why he hasn't taken steps to make that happen considering he can't be oblivious to the issues people raise.

This is the best fancomic. No need for DBM.

Well, goodness. This parody of common fan project flaws would be a lot funnier if his own didn't succumb to so many of them. (Chief among them hyper-violence and power-inflating.)

Dragon Ball has always been about power inflation. Its how you do it that might be good or not.Cipher wrote:Well, goodness. This parody of common fan project flaws would be a lot funnier if his own didn't succumb to so many of them. (Chief among them hyper-violence and power-inflating.)

I demand a playable 'Majin Perfect Fresher' and his transformation 'Innocently Evil Duck' for the next DB fighting game.
