English Dragon Box Release
Moderators: Kanzenshuu Staff, General Help
Damn, and we're getting Next episode previews and all of the opening and closing credits, too? Who know, maybe Funi will dub the OP and ED's!
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

The fact that the GT and (presumably) DB Season Sets did not end up having the same gigantic flaws as the Z sets says to me that we already had. But this is on an entirely different level.Li'l Lemmy wrote:we can, in fact, effect change if we are dissatisfied with the treatment of a series

They're doing this for the movies as well. Unless they release the 2008 special with it, I'm going to say "Nothankyou.jpg" to it.
I might rebuy DBZ, but it would have to be an impulse purchase.

Maybe by the time they release the movie set, they'll get the Jump Special rights. They obviously have the money.Super Saiyan Prime wrote:They're doing this for the movies as well. Unless they release the 2008 special with it, I'm going to say "Nothankyou.jpg" to it.

Vindicated, and for the reasons I stated in an earlier post. This is what should have happened from the beginning and he knew it, he fucking knew it. He FOUGHT for this and he tried very hard to champion the fandom to that cause at the same time, only for that fandom to (mostly) whine and complain about having to pick up a sword. He was clearly right about FUNimation knowing exactly what we want and that it's simply a matter of us demonstrating that we KNOW they know.Big Boss wrote:I wonder how Corey's feeling.

What is with the whole "Corey's gonna kill himself when he hears this, EL-OH-EL" undercurrent present in this thread? I'm not qualified to speak for his feelings, but I'll bet if anything he's got a lot of reason to make us feel like idiots now that the series is finally seeing the competent release we all wanted from the beginning.JulieYBM wrote:Oh, you know Corey's out getting plastered right now. *Pats on back*
We all. Meaning him, too; he wanted this as much as any of us.

The budget (Season Set) releases were bound to sell well, if Season 1 was to go by. Fuck knows who much money FUNi made on the Season Sets (let alone Season 1.)jjgp1112 wrote:Wow, I never thought about it like that.Big Boss wrote:Maybe the season sets were a way to raise cash for the Dragon Box?
Now bring on the luxuries.

Well, I was going to just going to buy the first two to replace seasos 1 and 2, but with this...Damn it...DemonRin wrote:News from Anime News Network's Coverage from the FUNi panel
Mostly stuff we know, but with 2 nuggets of new News.Funimation also announced the fall release of the Dragon Ball Z “Dragon Box,” produced from the original Dragon Ball Z masters. With 42 episodes per release, at a $79.98 MSRP, it will also include the complete opening and closing credits, the original episode previews, and will be presented with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Confirmation: Next episode Previews included
If they do release the other Dragonboxes, I probably won't buy those though. I am satisfied enough with their releases of those to not risk poverty. Well...I'd better go pick up some aluminum cans.

Thank you for the awesome work on the subtitles, Mr. Daimao. I'm definitely elated that now I can purchase my dream release of the series - Dragon Box footage with your work attached for the translation.Daimao wrote:Now that it can be said, I'll actually be banging the first set of those out this week.
