Much better then theirs. I mean, is there really any reason for all the white/blank background on their cover?Kaboom wrote:Oh hi, FUNimation. I fixed your boxart.

Here's a good idea, what about taking the Japanese character that appears at the very beginning of the opening (don't ask ME what it is) and pasting it on the background?
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Thanks for the link, I can save much more on shipping.SSJSteve wrote:For anyone who orders from AxelMusic they have Dragon Ball Z Kai (DVD) for a pre-order price of £21.67 and Dragon Ball Z Kai (Blu-Ray) for a pre-order price of £22.57.
At the bottom of the Blu-Ray page they have a pie chart showing FUNimations region coding, it says "Free": 7% and "Locked": 93%".

No problem! I'll order the DVD from them, I was surprised how cheap it was.LilKokuLink wrote:Thanks for the link, I can save much more on shipping.SSJSteve wrote:For anyone who orders from AxelMusic they have Dragon Ball Z Kai (DVD) for a pre-order price of £21.67 and Dragon Ball Z Kai (Blu-Ray) for a pre-order price of £22.57.

Re: Funimation Dragon Ball Kai Bluray Speculation
Has it changed a bit? It just seems to me that everytime I visit the page, something changes but I can't tell what. Wasn't the photo only showing the front before?
Also it might just be my tired eyes or the quality of the picture, but if you zoom in it looks like it has really light gray designs, the zoom in feature for amazon is very good so I don't think it's loss in quality.

Indeed, all that white space has some subtle background material now. That alone makes it look MUCH better.

Re: Funimation Dragon Ball Kai Bluray Speculation
It ain't like I wasn't gonna buy the damned box anyway, but man am I disappointed with it. I liked shit better back when FUNimation was just learning to use the original cover arts, like with the movie singles. I remember when the cover for Movie 12 got leaked-- made me drop a fuckin' brick.
Oh, wait. Of course I remember it. I'm the one who found it. ^_^

I pre-ordered this but I chose the wrong shipping can I change that or do I have to cancel my existing pre-order and pre-order it again?

Looking at the cover art, does anyone else find it weird that Goku's foot is being cut out?

Yeah, especially on the zoomed out image. But when you zoom in on Amazon's page you can tell that it's actually a "pattern".Taku128 wrote:Looks like JPEG artifacts to me.

You mean the "Kai" kanji? Yeah, they do that on the Japanese releases. I thought it'd be cool if they did that to give the US releases a bit of a background.bkev wrote:Here's a good idea, what about taking the Japanese character that appears at the very beginning of the opening (don't ask ME what it is) and pasting it on the background?

So, it's probably Region A for the Blu-ray. Man, what a bummer. I want Kai in HD!SSJSteve wrote:For anyone who orders from AxelMusic they have Dragon Ball Z Kai (DVD) for a pre-order price of £21.67 and Dragon Ball Z Kai (Blu-Ray) for a pre-order price of £22.57.

Re: Funimation Dragon Ball Kai Bluray Speculation
Yeah, it's definitely Region A. You could always buy a region free Blu-Ray player or unlock your current one.Timo wrote:So, it's probably Region A for the Blu-ray. Man, what a bummer. Re: Funimation Dragon Ball Kai Bluray Speculation
Right, but a region free player is too expensive at the moment. Too bad there is no chance to unlock the PS3.

Re: Funimation Dragon Ball Kai Bluray Speculation
I'm so lucky that my dad bought a region free blu-ray player, £200 off when buying HDTV really helped!

Yeah I was hoping it would be Region free so I could use a PS3. Never mind DVD is fine.Timo wrote:Right, but a region free player is too expensive at the moment. Too bad there is no chance to unlock the PS3.
