Relax guys, just a bit of banter.. a running joke if you will. :)

Anywho, this entire concept of this game bores me to tears.
A handheld game with 3D capabilities with 30 minutes of animation should really excite me.. but because it's a remake of a shitty OVA, it just doesn't at all.

Dragon Ball Online is the only game I have any interest in Dragon Ball wise right now.
Except that it's not a remake of the OVA. It's a remake of the NES game that the OVA was based on.

Either way, the story was lame.

(Yeah okay it kind of was...)

My point is, it was an 8-bit game. How many 8-bit games do you know of that have any real story? A weak story is pretty much a given for that era of gaming. I'm rather hoping they tweak things a little, story wise, to make it better contend with current generation game plots.

I think they could definitely expand on the storyline.
It's been forever since I read it, but I remember a fanfiction from back in the day called "Ki-Blind", by Sholio, which dealt with a similar type of situation and it was very well written. She utilized all the characters (I can't think of anyone that was left out) and everyone was very in character from what I recall.
On hiatus.

That's great to have brand new animation.
But it's too bad that it will be low-resolution video. Even if someone finds a way to rip the animation scenes into regular videos, it will be ugly on our TVs.

And here I thought that it was for Raging Blast 2, I thought "they took a long time to understand that they apparently can't show the story with in-game graphics and that they need precalculated newly-animated material to show the big scenes".

Well, apparently, they didn't understand and Raging Blast 2 will have some more "we did what we could with in-game animations" sort-of-like cutscenes.

BUT on a brighter side, it's good that people interested in handheld stuff will be able to watch some new animation wherever they want. And who knows, maybe it's some sort of test (again) to see how to make new animation based on something existing and how people will respond to it? Let's hope so, cause it's WAY time that every Dragon Ball game gets newly animated scenes for the story, and especially those able to display HD.

Even if they don't use newly animated footage meant specifically for a game, I can't understand why they don't take scenes from Kai to place in upcoming Burst Limit and Raging Blast games, precalculated videos displaying something existing takes virtually no time to create, no loading time in-game, and make sure you can have like a hundred scenes from the anime shown to re-tell the story with a better quality than their 3D engines.

So they are remaking "The Plot to Exterminate the Saiyans" now? Does anyone have a news link to this info?

I just hope this is a more of a cell shaded game and not like it was on the Bandai Playida. I hope we have grown past the Dragon's Lair type of games.

AnimeMaakuo wrote:This looks retarded. Sorry if you revolt at me like a wild boar, but this is my choice of not loving this release. They're going to re-draw it all, cut most of the scenes, make it 30 minutes instead of 1 hour, and dub it in English!? Sounds like a great deal, not. The best they could do is release it on DVD. Oh, I'm so glad I own the Original version on the Dbox lol.
Well, for the record...this isn't supposed to be a full-out new special release....it's just an extra on a video game. So it had to be shortened (30 minutes is still a lot, though, considering that this IS for a video game extra), and from what I hear most of the scenes cut will be ones that really served no purpose in the original. It's better than nothing, right? The original will still be there ;)

I've never seen it myself, I'm just going off what I've heard. Apparently some scenes could be left out with no impact on the actual story. Also, I hear there's a lot of repeated animation.

The original is very dry and overly drawn out. The Destron Gas making the Z Senshi unable to use ki to waste time on lesser creatures, the fights with the lesser characters, bah, it's pretty bad. If you cut that crap out, you're left with around a half an hour of decent material, which is fine. The new version is definitely stepping up the plot, as Tullece and Freeza have a team attack against the Z Senshi that wasn't in the original. That alone equal epic win.

All in all, I really hope for a slightly better reworking of the plot. Maybe one Destrong Gas generator that will kill the planet but not seal ki, a longer fight between the Ghost Warriors and the Z Senshi, and then the Hatchihyack fight maybe with a few little surprises just to differentiate from the original. We don't need the Dragon Quest looking monsters or Goddadoggonaongas or whatever the crappy robot was that was guarding Dr. Raichi before he was killed.

I really don't get the hate for the destron gas.
Instead of defeating the characters with inexplicable brute strength, something more subtle screws with their abilities to make them have to actually try. Mixes things up a bit.

Just... seems way more creative to me than "lol enemy smash" (which is basically how movies 5 onward went).

I haven't watched it in a while, but if I remember right, the problem is that they still use their energy. Everyone was like "Oh noes! We can't uses our ki attacks to vaporize them instantlees.!!11!" But while in the ice region, right next to the gas generator, they blast it to smithereens.

Yeah it was a good idea done poorly, cuz they could still turn Super Saiyan anyway.

I think the original is pretty boring, and most people around me think the same, some of them couldn't even watch it to the end.

I'm glad they're gonna cut most of the shit away. And they're doing new stuff so it's good. I'm eager for it!
