That's what I've heard anyway.B wrote:All three series, I believe, shared the same timeslot with Dr. Slump on Wednesdays at 7 PM. What episode of DB/Z/GT had just aired when you were born?

According to Wikipedia, my episode was episode 204, "A Case of Robbery!! The Culprit is Saiyaman!?", which is the episode where Videl finds out that Gohan is the Kamen Ride- uh... Great Saiyaman.

I was born on the 12th of April 1997, closest to GT episode 42, "Die, Goku!! The Revived Villains Escape From Hell". Hah. Super 17 Saga. What a crappy time to be born

Let's see... Well I was born on January 4th, 1992, so that would put me between episodes 121 and 122. So right where Trunks meets Goku! Not bad!

GT 50: Saiya Power Bested?! The Electrical Beast, Wu Xing Long
Now I'm somewhat interested. Maybe I should actually watch GT?

April 5th 1992, which would be 4 days after DBZ 134: "Too Late to Do Anything?! The Ultimate Weapons to Kill Goku", where Dr. Gero gets killed by #17.
I always liked the way #17 was introduced

I was born on 03/28/1991. The day before DBZ episode 084 "The Death Of Dende... Come Forth! Intense Full-Force Power" had aired in Japan.

I was born on 20th of june 1991.
When, according to wikipedia, Goku went super saiyan for the first time.
Or when, according to kanzenshuu, Goku fought his first super saiyan battle.
Either way, legendary.

Re: What episode of DB/Z/GT had just aired when you were bor
I saw a post in here where someone posted what episodes aired when their siblings were born, so I will do the same.
My sister was born on 11/18/92 which is the exact day DBZ episode 165 "Super Trunks Has a Weakness!! Cell, A Shocking Bombshell Declaration" aired.
My brother was born on 04/02/97, so 5 days earlier the DBGT TV Special "Goku’s Side Story! The Proof of his Courage is the Four-Star Ball" aired.

I was actually born before Dragon Ball, manga or anime, had been created. Had I been born during the run of the anime, however; episode 26 of the original Dragon Ball, the beginning of the Goku vs. Jackie Chun fight, would have been the most recently aired episode.
Re: What episode of DB/Z/GT had just aired when you were bor
Was born before any of them aired. The only episode that ever aired on my birthday was Another Transformation.
Kai's final episode aired on my birthday though.

Episode 172: Find a New God!! Goku, the Great Instant Movement
...yay?
Not a particularly exciting episode... but at least it isn't filler.

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!
Re: What episode of DB/Z/GT had just aired when you were bor
The 30 March 1988 episode would've been closer since I was born on 1 April, but there was no episode that day because of some dumb variety show special. Tambourine is cool though!Dragon Ball Episode 106
The Demonic Beast – Tambourine Draws Near!!
Air Date: 23 March 1988
Re: What episode of DB/Z/GT had just aired when you were bor
That would've seriously been awesome now that you mention it. I love that filler episode, one of the best ones in my opinion. Nice!Gyt Kaliba wrote:Let's see here...I was born on August 15, 1989. So looking at the Kanzenshuu episode guide, the episode airing closest to my birthdate was...Dragon Ball Z: Episode 16: Run, Gohan! Longing for Mt. Paozu, Where Chi-Chi is Waiting (AKA 'Plight of the Children' in the dub). That's actually pretty awesome, as I liked Pigero the most out of those early DBZ filler characters, and always wished they'd thought to have him show up again during the Saiyaman arc, to see the kind of guy Gohan grew up into...and his reaction to that.
As for chapter of the manga...ack, I can't seem to find a listing of when each chapter came out, but I'll bet it's somewhere on here. *starts digging around the main site*

Re: What episode of DB/Z/GT had just aired when you were bor
The following day I was born (24 January 1995), Dragon Ball Z Episode 253 "I’ve Stopped Killing!! Majin Buu’s Good Boy Declaration" aired.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
