Well people, looks like the theme of the special is Wacky Races!![]()
Pray that you don't see cameos from Penelope Pitstop, Dick Dastardly or Muttley!
I miss DD and Muttley. Their failures are internationally known.

I wonder how Mayumi Tanaka will handle voicing Kuririn and Luffy in this special? If there is going to be a scene where both characters talk to each other, then it looks like Tanaka will be talking to herself.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time she's had to do it.Choujin Daizenshuu wrote:I wonder how Mayumi Tanaka will handle voicing Kuririn and Luffy in this special? If there is going to be a scene where both characters talk to each other, then it looks like Tanaka will be talking to herself.
Also, someone on another forum said that there should be a scene with an eating contest between Goku, Luffy, and Toriko. I wholeheartedly agree.

It's a race? Well I guess that's one way to avoid power comparisons. Curious to see how this will work out.
On hiatus.

But how about a full blown conversation for a good minute or two? I'll be amazed if Tanaka doesn't bust out laughing between takes over the sheer awkwardness of the scene.Shiyonasan wrote:Well, it wouldn't be the first time she's had to do it.
Can you imagine the sheer amount of meat porn that would come out of that? It would be at such an unprecedented level! Also, someone on another forum said that there should be a scene with an eating contest between Goku, Luffy, and Toriko. I wholeheartedly agree.

So, I did a little digging. We's in trouble, yo.
Toriko x One Piece Special #1: Toriko episode #1, One Piece episode #492.
Toriko x One Piece Special #2: Toriko episode #51, One Piece episode #542.
Toriko Volume #1 skips episode #1 while Volume #9 covers episodes #45-50 and Volume #10 covers episodes #52-57. One Piece Season 14 Piece 9 covers episodes #491, #493-495. The Season 15 DVDs only go up to One Piece #532 right now, too.
In other words, I don't think we're getting a home video release.

Yeah, I saw you say that in response to me on Twitter... but isn't this the two TV specials?

I see it as joining the Big 3 once either Naruto or Bleach goes (whichever goes first). Toei and Shueisha certainly want that to happen. But One Piece will never end, so it will finish after Toriko, lol.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:I'm starting thinking to start watching & reading Toriko now. To those who are reading the manga, do you see it going on for many, many years? Do you think that One Piece (manga) will finish first, or after Toriko?
That would probably be me, I posted that idea on several forums (here included, lol). Goku's eating is legendary in manga, but Luffy's no slouch when it comes to a meal...yet Toriko's probably beyond the both of them. Guy can lift, kill, and eat a monster heavier than Base Goku could lift in the Buu Saga.Shiyonasan wrote:

Does this mean Funi could license the specials to bring over here, since they own the rights to dub Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Toriko?VegettoEX wrote:Yeah, I saw you say that in response to me on Twitter... but isn't this the two TV specials?

Toei selling God vs God, maybe a DragonBall resurgence?

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less about the fans a re-issue might alienate because if all they're concerned about is being able to scalp the people who were either unaware of the Dragon Boxes or couldn't afford them at the time, they're just leeches and deserve to have their greed backfire on them.

Maybe if FUNi is able to get it, they'll be able to put out some kind of special release with the prior two One Piece/Toriko specials, and this one, all on one release.

Not even. Toriko & Komatsu get good development through learning Food Honor and that's just one example. Starjun is a great character, Coco is a great character, Sani, Zebra, Ichiryuu, Midora.....the characters are very unique and good.ThunderPX wrote:The characters are boring, the art is ugly and the premise is utterly wretched. I don't understand all the Toriko hate, though. It's actually a really cool series. If you like DB and OP, I think you should really give it a chance. The anime makes way too many changes from the original story, so I would advise you read the manga instead. Also, the main character isn't a usual shonen hero, either; he's made a big name for himself by the time the story begins, he's very smart, isn't in the "coming of age" years, etc... And he can eat even more than any other shonen hero out there.
Tim Duncan is dope and forever.

I don't think Funimation gives a shit about specials.

Yeah, they would be releasing every bit of animation -- especially these higher-profile, higher-quality productions -- if they could do so. The fact that more of these things aren't brought out pretty clearly implies that there are numerous extra negotiations that go on behind the scenes (likely with the original production committees that fund them in the first place), and they either completely fall apart or just take forever. We're talking about committees for three different franchises here. It's not just "Shueisha" and "Toei" -- it's all the different companies that work on merchandise for the properties and so on and so forth. Every company gets their little say on what happens, and it's a total pain in the rear to iron out.
You'd think it would be, "Yeah, license it and give us residuals!"... but the Japanese rights-holders are weird... and strangely adverse to money when it's from the international markets...

Don't see the big problem with Toriko. It's miles better than Naruto and Bleach (although that isn't saying much).
All three series are great and I'm looking forward to this.

Be awesome if the final battle was like the Citauri invasion in Avengers

In Shueisha's book, Toriko took Bleach's place in the Big 3 since a long time ago.Mewzard wrote:I see it as joining the Big 3 once either Naruto or Bleach goes (whichever goes first). Toei and Shueisha certainly want that to happen. But One Piece will never end, so it will finish after Toriko, lol.
This is the cover of Shonen Jump #04-05 of 2009. This edition usually features a group shot on the cover every year. As you can see, Luffy, Naruto and Ichigo were on the front.
And this is the cover of Shonen Jump #22-23 of the same year.
Two years later, what do we get in the group shots? This and this.
This group shot is from this year and it doesn't even feature Ichigo at all.

The reason Naruto and Bleach aren't in on the fun is because they're boring depressing and make you wanna cry
