It does take place in the Dragon World we know, actually. We've seen Orange School, Capsule Corp., and statues of Mr. Satan & Mr. Boo in a tournament.
Yes. It could take place after even Goku Jr.'s time. By the time this has happened all of the Z-fighters have become famous around the world, and their adventurous stories were told by the off-springs of the Z-fighters and so on.
There. Just saved you guys a ton of work.

^ That's exactly what I always believed.

But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

What a wonderful evolution of the concepts. Who needs characters actually hitting each other when we can have people laying down cards? What earth-shattering hand of cards will Generic Hero Child lay down in battle his epic battle with Slightly Different Character? Screw blowing planets apart, this card game is where it's at!
I'd rather watch GT than this nonsense.
There are "worse" routes the series could go such as slice of life and the series does need to make more stuff if it wants to stay relevant to the mainstream market and something like DBH is perfect since stuff like Yu Gi Oh and Bakugan have been the rave with kids for the last ten years. And your reasoning against a card based series is beyond shallow "I want violence and explosions". Personally I would rather watch a series where kids play cards that has a good plot, heart, characters and tension as opposed to something that's just fighting. And if you really need violence for a series to be enjoyable Yu Gi Oh managed to work in scenes such as Yugi tricking a dude into lighting him self on fire.

I rather it have it take place it's own world then it be link with the Dragon Ball world. Stuff like Orange School, Capsule Corp., and statues of Mr. Satan & Mr. Boo in a tournament can easily be remove. I would like to see how Digimon Tamers was where the other two shows are normal TV shows just like ours.

But we (I) HATE those shows - I watch DBZ specifically for the "shallow" Violence and Explosions. I don't care about kids, cards, or heart, and and I sure as hell don't want one of the best ACTION animes reduced to a child's game. It's honestly a ridiculous suggestion when you step back and look at it from that perspective.

So we should let them turn Dragon Ball into something it isn't because it will make money for them?
How does that help me?
Hey, I sure hope they make a new Fullmetal Alchemist series, but this one will be about meth cookers! People love Breaking Bad. Ed can use his knowledge of chemistry to be a drug kingpin!
You want a show about children playing cards? There are ninety of them. Go watch those. This is Dragon Ball, the fights are fist-to-face, not card-to-other-card.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

You haven't seen anything from the DBH manga, right?
