What's everyone's thoughts on *SPOILER* coming back?

I Wonder if he wil become Z-warrior? It might be outrageous to think that space galactic tyrant could become good/neutral guy, but let's look at Vegeta, until end of Buu Saga, he was evil and ready to burn everything up so he could settle score with Kakarotto, Kuririn said it best when they dismissed Bulma plan to locate Gero via Dragon Balls and kill him before he create cyborgs "Look Bulma, i hated Goku, but when stronger enemy appear, we just had to join forces, most of us used to bad guys you had to be afraid of, and now look at us, that's pretty amazing actually"

Vegeta helped them only so they can help him defeat Freeza, he clearly said he will take care of them after they take care of Freeza. Even Piccolo at first wanted to work with Goku until they take care of Saiyans. Freeza was killed off before someone stronger than SSJ Goku/Trunks appeared, so he never had to put his "pride" aside to work together to beat stronger being.pacz360 wrote:Difference vegeta had moments of saving gohan and krillins asses on namek while freeza wanted to kill all of them let alone helping them.coola wrote:I Wonder if he wil become Z-warrior? Freeza already had a movie and an arc for him in Super. I know he's the ost iconic villain in the series, but I'm skeptical about this.
The excuse they gave Buu falling asleep again was so lame as well. So dull and disappointing. I mean Buu was training and lost a considerable amount of weight, and for them to just shaft him aside again just sucks.

Still more than what freeza did even when vegeta came back to life the first time he didn't do shit to anyone on earth he fucked off from earth in search of goku and he when he came back no one barring piccolo could stomp him from ruling the planet yet he didn't.coola wrote:Vegeta helped them only so they can help him defeat Freeza, he clearly said he will take care of them after they take care of Freeza. Both piccolo and vegeta despite being evil had moments of saving the characters asses.

Re: What's everyone's thoughts on *SPOILER* coming back?
I'm gonna be lazy and just re-post my opinion on this matter from the main Super thread word-for-word:
Note 4: I still want Fit Boo to still remain a thing.Lord Beerus wrote:Okay.
I knew about the news of Freeza's return being initial being a rumor. But when it officially it was confirmed last night to be legit, I was caught so off-guard by that bombshell that I literally had no idea how to respond to it. I initially didn't want to believe it but now that it has been verified as 100% true that Freeza is indeed coming back to take part in the Tournament Of Power, I decided to take some time to mull over this huge news before I give my official stance on this and other circumstances of Team Universe 7, instead of giving an inappropriate knee jerk reaction.
*breathes in deeply* *breathes out deeply*
First off, Majin Boo being sidelined, again, because he deiced sleep at the most inconvenient time, again, is the most bullshit excuse to bench him I've ever come across. It's so fucking dumb. And it's the worst kind of recurring gag that they've given to any character in the cast. This is the third fucking time it's happened to him. And it annoys the hell out of me that Toriyama/Toei/Toyotaro would take this route to exclude from another major story in modern Dragon Ball. I was looking forward to Majin Boo competing in the Tournament of Power so damn much, and know he not going to be taking part in it disappoints and angers me a lot. Like why even advertise him? It's the Champa arc all over again. And if the Zen Exhibition Matches aren't in the manga, then that really shows how much Toriyama doesn't really care for the character. Because even if Majin Boo doesn't compete, at least Toei were willing to throw him a bone and reminds the fans just what he's truly capable of in combat. Just terrible treatment of the character all-around. He deserves better than this.
Now... Freeza returning. Hmm. This is the double edged sword to end all double edged swords.
On one hand, seeing Freeza team up with the heroes in an effort to save his universe is the most brilliantly ironic narrative decisions that Dragon Ball has ever done. The pure idea of Freeza having to work together with people he killed (Krillin, Vegeta) and people that he horribly maimed in combat (Goku and Piccolo) provides so many maddeningly creative and unorthodox avenues for not only how the Tournament of Power pans out, but also how the perspective of future plots and arcs of Super will develop. I can already picture how phenomenal the character interaction will be between Freeza and the rest of the cast. Plus, we get to see Toriyama wonderful version of Hell again. So that's a bonus. I was one of the people who, while I loved Resurrection F, ultimately thought that the wasted Freeza coming back. So him being brought back in the fold as a possible solution to what is currently the universe's darkest hour? It's the most wonderfully subversive and dramatically ironic plot point that Dragon Ball has ever done. It's the perfect way to rectify Freeza's wasted re-appearance in Resurrection F, and also work really damn well as a pay-off to that movie.
But of course therein lies that problem that FREEZA IS BEING BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE AGAIN. Why would Goku's first response to Majin Boo being out of the tournament be to bring in Freeza?! I know that Goku may be desperate for a teammate to fill in the gap in short space of time, but I can't help but fell that was a very uncharacteristic decision on Goku's part. This was the guy that three arcs ago literally blew up the Earth in a kamikaze attempt to kill everyone after being defeated by Goku and Vegeta and made everyone lives on Namek a living hell. Could he have seriously not though of anyone else? At this stage, I really would have preferred Yamcha to be brought into the fold or even Cell to be brought back. And while we're on the subject of Yamcha, it just makes everything that Super is doing with Yamcha seem more unnecessary cruel and spiteful towards the characters and his fans. Because Toei know full well that Yamcha won't take part in the Tournament of Power, but they are giving across this message that he could a possible joke dark-horse last minute entry in the team. But they know that's not the case at all. It's just another "YAMCHA SUX LOL" gag. Ugh.
But you know what, I was very dismissive about "Evil Goku" when Goku Black was first announced and... well... we all know awesome he turned out to be. What fear the most is that Freeza will brought back to life then just go straight back to hell. I want the character to actually stick around this time. Have his character develop. I'm not asking him to become a hero in an sense of the word. But I think him being the foil to Goku and working as an anti-villain would be a great way to take his character now that he is being brought back to life... again.
Despite all that's been said, I have to admit, I even more hyped for the Tournament of Power that I was before. Majin Boo getting the boot sucks really hard. And the excuse given for his absence aggravates the hell out of me. But if they manage to utilize Freeza coming back (again) and make the dynamic of the tournament, and the teamwork and relationships between the members of team Universe 7 all the more unusually intriguing and unpredictable, I will forgive that. For what it's worth though, we were warned a scenario like this would happen.
Phew.
Glad I got that out of my system.
Note 1: I want Freeza to return wearing a suit
Note 2: I want the current opening of Super to be edited with Freeza in it and have everybody to have a bemused look on their face at Freeza being in their team
Note 3: If Freeza and Frost don't confront each-other, I will be massively disappointed.

Re: What's everyone's thoughts on *SPOILER* coming back?
I dread the thought of Freeza turning good, and I hope it hasn't even crossed the writers' minds. Unlike Vegeta, Piccolo and Buu Freeza's story arc isn't one of redemption, its about paranoia and overconfidence leading to one's own downfall. If Freeza was given the same treatment it would make him less unique and eventually redemption stories in Dragon Ball would become stale and predictable. I can't think of any narrative justification for him turning good. At the very most I'd want to see him fight members of the other universes and then turn his back on Goku and Vegeta whenever the opportunity arises. Who knows maybe TOEI will throw in a Sapphire transformation to reflect his desire for revenge and of course sell even more toys.coola wrote:I Wonder if he wil become Z-warrior? Re: What's everyone's thoughts on *SPOILER* coming back?
I really hope this will be a gag episode and Buu will wake up! OMG!!! This ruined my day!
*RANT TIME*
They hyped Buu in the promotional videos, they even made a video will all fighters including Buu! They put him in the opening, ending and whatnot. I don't buy it and can't believe that the greedy money-hungry Toei wasted money on promoting a character that they won't use!? THIS IS BULLSHIT!!!
Buu is one of my favorite character with the most potential, awesome abilities and techniques, with flexible body that can pull off visually an awesome fight. They gave him a fit form and a character development after like what!? 70 episodes of Dragon Ball Super. Which hyped a lot of people. But no. They have to screw up everything.
I really hope this is a BS gag episode and will be resolved in the said episode, because I just can't... But seeing what Toei does recently, it is possible. The episode with Fit Buu ended with Buu feeling sleepy. I knew it. They just fucking can't stop pumping their ridiculous ideas in this franchise. I was so grateful they gave Buu and awesome fight with Basil. Gave him motivation to fight and train and the best they can give is is making him sleep... AGAIN!!!
WOW. Just wow. Whoever decided on it has the worse sense of humor on Earth.
I'm the last person to hate on Dragon Ball Super, I try to defend it, see the positive sides of it. But with each bad decision for plot points, my liking decreases. I accept many things they establish, but Jesus Christ! I can live with 28 planets in Universe 7, with power levels fluctuating left and right, but they shaft Buu yet again for what!? For stupid fanservice! I remember people bringing up the idea of reviving Freeza and Cell, and they called it. Other people made fun of them, saying it will be the piss-poor idea and that will never happen. And we get this now!
What on Earth happens. Does people in 2017 lost their minds!? I lost faith in humanity.
I swear if this turns out not to be true or gag episode, I will post here again with sorrow and will apologize for this rant. But right of now, I feel fed up. I just can't. I must watch Attack on Titan episode 7. An anime done with passion and care, that Dragon Ball Super never will be. As much as I like the show, Dragon Ball Super just becomes something I start to watch because I feel obligated to do.
This really makes me feel lied to. I literally cried today when I heard this news.
I'm calm now... I'm calm...

Re: What's everyone's thoughts on *SPOILER* coming back?
I don't know what shocked me more, the reveal itself or the amount of people saying they're okay with it, some people talking about this like it will redeem Freeza after Resurrection F....but...this goes against his character completely! He would never ever work together with Goku under any circumstance and since he's dead he doesn't care about the fate of the universe at all. People keep saying they'll probably get Beerus to threaten him into doing it but that makes no sense either, Beerus has nothing to threaten Freeza with, he's already dead for crying out loud!
I hated Resurrection F too and I wish it was never made, but this isn't better, it's not improving anything about Freeza's character, at least he was in character in Resurrection F.
Super doesn't at all feel like how Toriyama would have continued the manga if he kept writing it instead of ending it at the time, he always tried to forget things from previous arcs and power on with new things for better or for worse, yes he brought back Pilaf, Tao Pai Pai and Freeza in the original manga but those were small appearances used to prop up other things in the story arc (Pilaf used to prop up Piccolo, Tao used to prop up Tenshinhan's growth and Freeza used to prop up Trunks/fake out as villain of the arc) but he would never do what Toei and Shueisha seem to want him to do with Super, which is to bring back things for the sake of nostalgia. This news has gotten me in a shitty mood.

Freeza should not have died in RoF, he should have escaped, if this had happened then there would be no god damn problem, it would have felt organic. But this just feels forced. (Ok i'm going to stop talking about this, i need to calm down, and i don't want to spam tiny rants every single second)

I'm... actually fine with Frieza coming back. It seems to have a bit more purpose than just "lol frieza comes back and gets ohko'd again".
What really hurts the most is Buu being benched again.

It's not that hard to get Freeza to join the team. Say if we lose you are dead anyway, if you help us to win you get out of the teddy bear hell.

I don't know why people are fine with it. Bringing back (AGAIN) Freeza feels so redundant. Like a bad fanfiction, really. We again get an unfunny joke about Buu falling asleep. It feels like hyping a return of Ultimate Gohan for like, what?, 50 episodes? My God. I don't have words.
Feeling the same as you . I woke up to this information today. And I feel like I got syphilis thanks to this news. Besides, how do they know he will fall asleep for 2 months? Is Buu going to tell him something in the lines:
"Buu tired, f#ck you. Me gonna sleep for 2 month. Sayonara."? LOL
Or they are going to ask Bibidi or Babidi

Shouldn't all the members of the team atleast know eachother a little? Androids 17 and 18 don't even know how Frieza looks like. It will be interesting to see if he ever gets to interact with them. Especially #17
Re: What's everyone's thoughts on *SPOILER* coming back?
Late to the party. Really surprised the rumour turned out to be true. I don't know what to expect, there's potential for great things. We have to wait and see.
This running joke of Boo falling asleep perplexes me. Honestly it has Mr.Toriyama written all over it. Just for the "screw you" it is to the fan-base, it already has value.
Personally Boo is very uninteresting as a character, his only upside is the possibility of creative fight's due to his abilities. In my book his removal for Freeza's inclusion already improves the arc. Boo is a child, only Trunks and Goten match him in the dull factor.
My concern is that Freeza's last appearance made for the worst arc in all of Dragon Ball, in my opinion. It's normal that upon hearing of his return people have flashback's.
However, like I said at the top, it's all about execution.
I see people having very emotional reactions. I put it on the same basket as those who say there's too many Saiyans and they are sick of them. When in fact how the characters are used is what makes or breaks their inclusion.
FnF was awful but it could have been amazing. Future Trunks return could have been awful, it turned out to be pretty OK.

Re: What's everyone's thoughts on *SPOILER* coming back?
Frieza is the best villain in the series so honestly I'm fine with it. He shouldnt of died in ressurection F to begin with.
Just make it where he helps but isn't a predictable idiot. A more calm and collect frieza is much needed for his character development.
Majin Buu is in fact my favorite character so I'm bummed about this. However anyone with a brain cell can see they are saving him for the future arcs, including the uub arc. It's just basic common sense.
