As for the challenge mode you suggested, I'm going to save that coin one for last. The point system and I guess the "death match" are my favorite because they are the most like Smash Bros. (when play). I've made the habit of removing items and hazards before a fight.

And just for fun and because it's easier to play like this in some ways, I've been making decks with only one battle character and one support character (both have to be from the same series). All of the other characters could be whatever. I made a couple but my favorite would be the last Goku because of that little spirit-bomb easter egg(having more characters charges it up). You should try it, its pretty fun and makes it feel like more of a Street Fighter imo.

Did that with Ichigo, and he dies way too quickly even though he has a lot of help characters with him. You unlock more worlds (the most secret ones if you will) by paying a number of pink gems on certain characters evolution charts, I beat all of the J-arena mode and just got a picture with all the battle characters on saying J-Champion or something.

Just recieved my copy of the game and oh man.
I know this post has little to do wth whats above me but i`ve only completed 5 objectives and am hooked.(Hope this is still the case when i`m 50 objectives in.)
I just have two questions,
. Is this game cartridge wi-fi only?(can i connect to a freiend with only 1 cart?)
. How easy is it to get myself online with this game?

I understand i`ll need some practice first being new to the franchise but i`d love to battle online soon.

You can wirelessly connect to others around you if that's what you wanted to know, and I'm sure atleast one of the options is single cart play...maybe.. and you'll either need a wireless router for your pc (I personally don't have a clue about these) or the Nintendo USB wi-fi connector to get online(pretty cheap, around £15 to £20, this is what I have.)

It's really simple to get online, if you want to know how just PM me and I'll fill you in!

I look forward to fighting you one day! :D

Oh, sorry about that.. I have questions now: How exactly do you earn new levels to play on battle mode? Also, when setting up CPU opponents, what do the options to the right of their names do? (besides the one to the far right, I believe that is setting teams) Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it changes your opponent's difficulty level.

I think you need a character with at least four koma. You can also set L or R to a leader (or any battle character), maybe that's what you did.

Yeah you need atleast a 4 koma or higher battle character to be able to assign a leader to your deck.

So, does anyone have any favourite characters to play as so far?

My favourite is Luffy without a shadow and no he is`nt a noob character before you say it.
His combo`s are unbeatable.
Otherwise i would say i like Kinikuman for strength and Naruto (9 tail fox version)for speed.

I don't think anyone's a noob character o.o.
For me it has to be Sasuke, Dio , and Jotaro as my top 3, stopping time FTW, and Sasukes moves are cool.

I got my copy of the game a couple days ago. I only just today had enough free time to sit down and play it for awhile. Seems pretty cool so far. I will drop by the friend code thread to find you guys online after I get far enough to unlock the characters I want for my team, and learn the basics of the game battle. I have Jump Superstars, but never played very far or practiced it much because I didn't have any friends to play against with that one. This time, there is incentive to play it and get good at it.

Most definitly Akira,
Jump Ultimate stars is one hell of a game.
I`ve been playing about 4 days now and you`ll start to really get powerful after the first couple of portals.
If you have trouble with working out all the options or translations i believe Mike has a locked thread on this section with a link to GameFAQS , which has a complete run through.

Top tip:Fight the Japan battle (online against random players) as much as possible because there good, really good and you will learn a lot off of them and hey, maybe beat them at it once and a while.

Tip 2:As tempting as it is to choose a whole Dragonball deck(team)beware.

Hope to challenge you soon buddy. :P

Givin' all the hype around this game & the fact that I'm very avid reader of SJ titles, I went on ahead & purchased it without actually owning a DS. I know that doesn't make much sense, but I do intended on purchasing a DS sometime this weekend. If Play-Asia is right, I'll have the game about well...this weekend. So until then, anything I should know since this is my first venture into the Jump Stars series? For example, I seriously don't know the hell a "koma" is. I've seen the word tossed around abit (without reading the discussions), but never bother knowing what it meant to the game.

Congrats on the purchase. After seeing your posts in this forum, its understood that you know a lot when it comes to manga, so you'll really enjoy this game. Koma, in the game, is I guess a panel. Koma will be making up your team/deck.

The space for a deck is, I believe, twenty. There are different kinds of koma: battle, help, and support. Battle characters are fighting characters and is at least four "blocks", help are basic blocks that help battle characters, and support characters assist and have at least 2 or 3 blocks.

You have to have one of each type of koma to make a deck and you'll also need a battle character to be a leader. Keep in mind that I just got the game and what I'm saying probably doesn't make much sense. After reading the guide on GameFAQs and playing through the game, you'll get the hang of it in no time. Good luck and when you purchase a ds, don't forget about putting your friend code down.

Oh yeah, That's one of the many reasons I got the game, friend codes are for sure. I'm gonna go gay & say I'm flattered by your comments on my knowledge of manga (& video games). Speaking of DS's, that one you displayed over at another topic is really nice. I'm gonna try to get a nice design, but I don't really know much about that either.
