It's from the Spanish DVDs, based off the Dragon Box footage. The cels look gorgeous, but the sky in the background has quite a bit of digital distortion. The background distortion is typical for this style of remastering though (grain removal), and overall they did a really great job. This is definately the best foreign DBZ release out there. There's also a ton of extras on the discs, good stuff.Kendamu wrote:Wow! The clarity of that second image! I think it's burning my eyes or something.
I'm so used to seeing Dragonball as if I had sand in my eyes.
FUNi's S1 FAQ is shit and here is why (56k warning):

No, I don't think so. We don't actually own these disks so it would be hard to give any decent info on them. I also don't know any Spanish, so yeah. All the info I got on these disks came from elsewhere on these forums (there was a huge thread about it when they first came out).

Necropost. Sorry!
Looking at the first post, I compared FUNi's 4:3 frame (no overscan) with the DragonBox 4:3 frame.
If you take FUNi's original film frame and cut it down to a proper 4:3 (475 x 356 using FUNi's film frame screenshot) you get exactly what FUNi showed us.
Now, if the DragonBox is in 4:3 (640 x 480 in the DragonBox screenshot) and FUNi's is also in 4:3 but Toei's footage shows more viewable area in 4:3 in their DragonBox, does that mean that the film reel Toei used to get the DragonBox footage had more viewable area in the frame to begin with before cropping it down into the 4:3 aspect ratio than FUNi's ever had to begin with?
I'm not so sure right now that FUNi was giving us a bunch of crap when showing what 4:3 looks like (before overscan) from their film reels. We all know that FUNi has a crappy quality film reel to begin with (especially comapred to Toei). Sure, the overscan thing is still bullshit, but is the 4:3 that they're showing us really bullshit or do they just have that crappy of a reel to begin with?
