Spopovich WAS that overpowering and videl was still doing alright until he got his head spun around. if chichi was really that strong, she would have been included in a battle; as videl was going to do [chasing babidi]

side note: how do I put a small youtube vid in my post?

All joking aside, I'm on the side of "there's not enough evidence either way".

I mean, just looking straight at the facts:

ChiChi
-Was good enough to make it to the final eight of the World Tournament.
-She was strong and fast enough to keep Goku off-balance.
-Strong enough to leap way higher than the Tournament main building.
-Described as 'adept' by Master Roshi.
-Gets hit by a kiai (I think that's what it's called) from Goku, smashing her into the wall and get up just fine.
-Later, is backhanded by post-SSJ Goku through a wall, a tree and some rocks with seemingly only superficial damage.
-Trained Goten.

Videl
-Fights common thugs often.
-Was not capable of super-human jumping, given her surprise at Gohan's leap.
-Did not have super-human strength (surprise at Saiyaman crushing a gun).
-Had no idea what chi even was.
-States she was largely self-taught, Hercule hadn't given her a lesson in years.
-Gohan, speaking as the narrator, says 'Videl was no average talent, and she learned to fly in ten days'.
-Is shown training with a punching bag.
-Wears out quickly while fighting Spopovich. She's gasping for air well before she breaks his neck
-But, she does break his neck.
-Gets wrecked by a kiai from Spopovich.

Side notes:
-Announcer says the 24th Budokai was a bunch of 'also-rans' and was nothing without the Z fighters.

Id semi agree with the not enough evidence thing

but i think all of you are taking chichi back in the day [in her prime] against videl. I'm talking about if chichi and videl fought somewhere in the buu saga, videl would win

spopovich was controlled by powerful magic, yes she lost but put up a GREAT fight. without the z fighters the tournaments WERE boring BUT mr satan won them AND videl didnt get training from him for years beacuase she surpassed him THAT long ago.

just for fun = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jH4sgy9fZig

See chichi was gonna get her tongue bit off lol

and theres another point - chichis stregth was diluted by wanting a famiyl and to get married and videl is all about the fighting and training

*how could anyone hate dbz put into awesome little boxes like that, especially when they make the picture of the golden dragon on the spines*

Chichi trained with goten...goten showed her he could go super saiyan.
Videl trained with Gohan...videl learned ki conrtol and how to fly.

I'm willing to concede that maybe Videl's youth could give her an edge.

But I just don't think it's likely that ChiChi would live with Goku and the kids and completely give up on martial arts. She had to be doing something other than watching Gohan like a hawk.

I mean, you talk about how ChiChi doesn't take part in any fights after the tournament....well, neither does Videl. They are solidly fourth-tier characters, maybe even fifth-tier.

On a different note, fanfic idea: no Buu Saga, ChiChi enters the World Tournament for the prize money (she states that Ox-King's money was running out when Gohan suggests him entering).

I dont think chichi still fights anymore, she was ALWAYS yelling at goku and gohan for their training and was very sturn about not wanting goten to become a monster, so i would think she'd just be a mother figure.

She became saiyaman #2; she still fought for awhile after that tournament.

In the manga, at least, her problem isn't with fighting, but with:

-Goku not earning any money, making them live off her dad (I don't think Goku ever collected any money for winning the tournament, since he flew off immediately after it was over and the whole tournament structure was destroyed).

-Gohan possibly giving up on his scholarly plans to go get his brains beat out.

-Goten looking like "a punk" (I would honestly not be surprised if some of her reaction to him being a Super Saiyan was him being identical to Goku right before he died).

But still shes the only one in the show that wasnt doing anything except yelling at goku for not making gohan study.

everyone was either training or working.

even if she did train a bit every now and then, videl has been constantly training since she was little and already passed the martial arts champion of the world before getting to high school.

my case being: chichi has passed her prime and videl is at hers during the tournament saga, and thats when the fight would take place.

So the thing is Buu saga Chichi v. Buu saga Videl. Well, I suppose Videl could have an edge, given she is a teenager and Chichi was like.., what? in her thirties?, forties?.. But it still isn't that clear, there's no evidence in neither side to be sure who was stronger at that point in time, but I'm still going with Chichi.
I mean, in her youth, i believe she was far stronger than Videl:

So, even if Chichi stopped training all those years, she still could keep up somewhat with Goten in sparring (it really is getting old this example ), so that makes me think that a fight between her and Videl will be a close one, but Chichi will be just strong enough to beat Videl.

Goku is born at the year 437, and so is Chi Chi. Buu saga starts at the year 774. Chi Chi is then 37 years old.
No more time for Daizex. Goodbye folks!

Self trained teenager. And the woman was trained by the student of Master Roshi.

videl was trianed by the worlds martial arts champion of the world, and top fighters like that.

yamcha taught himself for the most part and he would tear chichi apart.

your trainer doesnt mean anything. uub was taught by NO ONE up until that point and he was going punch for punch with goku. big whoop if chichi was trained by her dad.

Mr.Satan!? Please
LeprikanGT wrote:yamcha taught himself for the most part and he would tear chichi apart.
a. We do not know Yamcha's background.
b. We are talking about Videl v ChiChi not Yamcha v ChiChi.

Uub is a reincarnation of Buu, he is a total freak and an awful example to prove that the trainer doesn't matter.

Mr. Satan never trained Videl. She was entirely self-taught. She said so herself.

okay - she was stronger than the worlds champ before she even hit high school.

and that whole 'mr satan is weak' doesnt hold up bc minus the z fighters he IS the strongest, thats why he is the champion of martial arts.

chichi is old. videl is in her prime with several abilities that chichi doesnt have.
