I haven't read the script, I only skimmed through it to be honest. I made my thoughts clear how I felt about the movie after hearing the rumors of Goku being a high school student, crushes, bullies, American hijinxs ensues. Personally I can't wait to see this movie.

From what I've read from the comments, the script so far sounds like 80% of super hero flicks since the last eight years or so. I doesn't bother me at all that Goku coming off more and more like an average American hero. It reminds me a lot of the first half of the Spider-Man movie, except Goku doesn't get his power from a radioactive monkey. (Although that would've been very amusing)
SSj Kaboom wrote:Goku doesn't seem to be reacting much differently than I'd suspect he would in high school. Like Gohan, minus the smarts. They seem to be focusing a bit less on his innocence and goofiness, and a bit more on his Saiyan side with his itching to fight.
I'll reserve judgment on that until I see the movie. Maybe the writers had to put some elements of "Dragonball" in the movie so they went withe easy route and just picked some of the highlights from the manga/anime. "Hmm, Goku likes food a lot, check. There's a lot fighting, check, and its funny I suppose, check." The innocence and "goofiness" might be forced but who knows they might actually nail it, take that with gain of salt mind you.

I wish Fox would release this movie sooner. Talking about it isn't enough anymore, this just feels like torture.

This made me laugh for some reason.

Still liking it so far, but as I've said, I don't care if it's different so long as it's interesting.

Monstrous red eye? That's the Oozaru, right? Or ShenLong?

[Goku] grabs a bottle of hair gel and squeezes out a huge gob of gel and applies it. The hair springs back up like a porcupine's spikes. He gives up on his hair and then leaves for the party.
Funny, I thought the hair gel would have the opposite effect. :D At least that would explain the actors hair style.

I think he might be trying to use the gel to force his hair DOWN, not up, but of course, Saiyan hair doesn't work like that. :D

Oh man, I'm gonna be so sad when Grampa Gohan dies in this; from what script you've posted so far, he is easily my favorite "adapted" character. TT_TT

Man, its gonna be like Kamina all over again. *Sulks*.

Agundus?

Huh, so Goku's knock-to-the-noggin wasn't as powerful in it was in the original. Or the amnesia's not as strong.

*Can't help but think of Clear Eyes commercials w/Ben Stein whenever "red eye" is mentioned*.

Huh, they used Paozu; impressi----wait a minute, Master Roshi doesn't live on Mt. Paozu. >_>

Honestly, if I were on the verge of death by unnatural causes, I wouldn't bother rhyming some sort of foreshadowing. It whole line sounds so bootlegged to me.

Bulma sounds fairly normal.

If anything, at least this movie will lead to people actually knowing the individual names of the dragon balls themselves, and the names of techniques pre-Funi translating them into other terms.
On hiatus.

"Paozu" might be changed to the name of an area or district, or a city.

I'm guessing the asteroid was the space pod and the red eyes belonged to Goku.

Oh I know that, it's just hilarious when I think about this actor applying large amount of gobbledy goop to his hair to keep it down. Goku should try using moose.

Wow.

I can't wait to see Smallville. I mean Dragonball Evolution

If what Jappo has posted is correct, he's just confirmed all of my fears about this movie, like Goku being a self concious hormonal teen riddled with self doubt, and the high school setting being incredibly out of place and incredibly stupid.

Not to mention shoehorning things like "Suushinchu" and "Ki" into the film like it somehow makes it more faithful to the original, to me it just outlines the fact that they just re-wrote the story and characters as they saw fit.

I'm at loss to how people can be excited after reading what Jappo posted, if it's true, it's not just a poor adaption of Dragonball, it's also a terrible story.

It's odd, what upsets me most about this movie is how Goku's personality is being portrayed, but what I like the most about it is how Gohan Sr. is portrayed.

For the sequel (if it happens), I kinda hope that when Goku trains in the afterlife he gets to spar against his grandfather again.

Oh fudge!

I just remembered.

Field full of strawberries...."Strawberry fields"!
(Beatles XD )

Goku wants to take Chi-Chi down to strawberry fields; where nothing is real, and there's nothing to get hung up about. *Hums the refrain*.

"Strawberry fields forever..."

I can't speak for everyone...So I won't. I love terrible action movies, no seriously I do and not in a "har har it so bad it's funny" kind of way. I'll watch it in awe as if it was an Oscar nominated film. I won't deny that the script so far is horribly cliched but Dragonball Evolution is turning out to be my movie of the year!

It took me a while to figure out exactly how to say this... Because I can't say "Because Gohan was an insignificant character"...

He's referred to a lot, but when it comes to his personality and character, there's so little of him in the story that you have a lot of wiggle room to breath life into the character...
In fact, there are very few characters who show up who are actually shown less than Gohan.

Save for the fact that he's alive, they aren't actually changing the character much, because there's nothing to change.

Goku on the other hand...

Well Bulma sounds pretty Bulma-ish to me. Goku asking her if she was Piccolo seems like a "Goku-ish" question. Then the way he fought the bullies seemed like a Goku way to fight. Just like he did with Burter and Jeice.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

If we're all here for a reason then I'm just visiting.

If it's held in your heart then you can't let go.
