Some teasers don't get released on the Internet though. For example, they show off the teaser trailer for the upcoming Godzilla film at the comic con and it was never uploaded on the Internet. The same could happen with this movie, I think in a few months from now that we will see a full trailer.

It was the same thing with Prometheus at Comic con. BTW. I don't anticipate anything as the trailer won't be worth it.Hellspawn28 wrote:Some teasers don't get released on the Internet though. Also won't be bit early to start marketing this film? I'm not sure how they market the films in Japan but won't they wait a few more months before they start making a trailer?

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
I can't imagine waiting until September for them to reveal what the movie's about and who the villain is. I mean, that is possible and all, but how incredibly frustrating and slightly cruel that would be; I'd rather be unaware there was going to be a movie for a few more months and have them unload a bigger bundle of teaser info all at once than draw it out bit by bit.
The way I figure it, Shueisha is just waiting until after the new Naruto movie opens and the hype for that dies down a little bit so they're not stepping on their own toes. My guess for when we find out the next chunk of news regarding the new DB movie would be--even though it slightly pains me to say--probably not until the second week in August.

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
Well, let's look at how Toei is handling the promotion for the newest One Piece film, which is coming this December.
There are a couple OP forums, but here is the thread on Raftel which is a little quieter than the biggest forum, so you can see the updates more clearly without as much chatter http://raftelforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=332
So looks like the original teaser dropped in November of 2011, almost a full year before the film is set to be released. The original info posted was just basically "This will be the first film in The New World!" which is about as much info as "The new DBZ movie will be in the 'Lost Decade'!"
Then it wasn't until MARCH, 4 months later, that a sketch of the villain was revealed at an OP art show in Japan. Here's a thread where that is revealed (it got tossed into another forum section because of the relation to the art show...) http://raftelforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=420
And then it wasn't until late June, practically July (another 3-4 months) that more info about the movie came out and we got the first trailer (which you can see back at the first thread).
So, if you apply that to our time frame...about a year out (well, less) getting a tiny bit of info and a teaser that (probably) doesn't reveal anything other than the movie is coming out. I could see it being September or even later before we get any substantial info or a real trailer.

I may have forgotten a little bit but just to refresh my memory. this movie is suppose to be 100% canon with the series and it's supposed to take place after the fight with boo and before the world tournament right?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Correct, I'm really hoping this movie is something different and fresh. I wouldn't be able to stand another villain to show up and just get killed by Goku again.samuraix123 wrote:I may have forgotten a little bit but just to refresh my memory. this movie is suppose to be 100% canon with the series and it's supposed to take place after the fight with boo and before the world tournament right?

It's not supposed to be 100% canon. Toei/Shueisha/Toriyama never talked about canonicity for the Dragon Ball franchise.samuraix123 wrote:I may have forgotten a little bit but just to refresh my memory. this movie is suppose to be 100% canon with the series and it's supposed to take place after the fight with boo and before the world tournament right?

Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People

I wouldn't be surprised if he flat out said "Canons have no effect on Goku and his friends."AnimeMaakuo wrote:Toriyama hasn't said anything is canon. Yeah but most people say that the manga is only canon since it came out first and it's the original source material. Not start another canon debate again, but I think this movie will likely take place in the same universe as the manga just like the Jump special did if the Toriyama is apart of the story.JeffJarrett wrote:

It should be written in the forum rules that this is the one question you absolutely cannot ask in any way, shape, or form.samuraix123 wrote:Canon or non Canon

There has been never an official word on "canon" regarding Dragon Ball. Whatever you choose as part of the story or not is up to you.Hellspawn28 wrote:Yeah but most people say that the manga is only canon since it came out first and it's the original source material. Also, the story was written by Yūsuke Watanabe, not Akira Toriyama.
There is no way it can be considered more canon than the other thirteen movies written by Takao Koyama.

But Toriyama is very involved from what we know, so it's nowhere near the (unofficial) canonicity of the other movies.JeffJarrett wrote:Also, the story was written by Yūsuke Watanabe, not Akira Toriyama.

But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

They said the exact same thing for Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! (June 9th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump).DBZGTKOSDH wrote:But Toriyama is very involved from what we know, so it's nowhere near the (unofficial) canonicity of the other movies.

Did he say it himself personally though? Did he say that it was the first time ever he was involved in the anime script that much? I don't think so.JeffJarrett wrote:They said the exast same thing for Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
At the end of the day, though, no-one's going to agree on how much involvement it will take from Toriyama -- if that even matters at all -- as to how canonical each individual wants to think/declare it to be.
Does he have to come up with the concept (JSAT special)...? Be involved with the script (2013 movie)...? Simply like it (Bardock TV special)...? Write it himself (kanzenban new ending)...?
Or does it not even matter, because you don't feel anything produced after the completion of the original product should be backward-adopted into the original story as "truthiness"...?
Personally, I don't give a shit. Lots of people do. No-one's going to agree, though, and even if Toriyama himself said "this is canon!", those that don't follow that school of thought don't have to accept that.

Sorry Guys. I wasn't trying to start any kind of debate or anything negative. I was just curious if this movie was going to be between after Goku defeats Boo and before the world tournament. When I use the word Canon I always thought it meant part of the actual story. I don't get into the debates with people.
