Okay, could we please do me a favor and not post new movie spoilers in this thread? :D

Although, so far at least, it does seem like the 10 years of peace holds true. Since Beerus only crashed a birthday party and quickly became friends with the cast, and Freeza was a total joke. It's not like the Saiyan Saga, which was full of despair over the course of a year for the Z Fighters.
I wouldn't really call three alien invasions over the course of ten years "ten years of peace". That's ignoring what's going to happen in DBS and the other movies (i.e. movie 13), too. Now, the seven years after Cell, those were peaceful. Am I the only one who really hates the time period they chose? The whole point of the end of the manga is to give it a "the adventure continues...!" conclusion, and they choose to set all this BEFORE that?

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

I'd argue the whole point of the end of the manga was so Toriyama could put it to bed and never do another weekly manga again. Took the man like 20 years to regain the DB interest after that long series run.

Finally watching these. At RRA arc part 3. Quick question. Should I watch them in upload order or do the manga first and then the anime stuff?

Hi! Glad you're watching these. Hope you're enjoying them. Obviously you're free to watch them in whichever order you choose, but I definitely recommend upload order. I do tend to reference things I've already said or done. And in regards to the movies, since I basically do them when they were released in relation to the manga, you get to simulate that experience as if you were there at the time. For example, the two I've always found interesting is the fact that the 3rd DB movie, which features Goku as a 12-year-old, came out when Goku was fighting Ma Junior in the 23rd Budoukai. That's just fascinating, I think. Even more so is DBZ movie 6, which I haven't gotten anywhere near yet but features Dende as God... long before that idea ever comes up in the manga. Still blows my mind. :eh:

But anyway, if you do decide to go that route, I do keep a handy-dandy ordered list on the first page of this topic.

Is it 100% confirmed that it is taking place in that era?
Now, the seven years after Cell, those were peaceful.
Yup. Kinda funny things only stir up the instant Goku returns.

I would like to see movies that take place during different time skips too. Kinda like I'd alter Movie 6 to just be a Vegeta training in space solo film, and have him encounter Metal Cooler by himself.

When is a good estimate to expect to see the Saiyan arc uploaded? No rush, just wondering.

The first part is already written and recorded. The second part is mostly written. Hopefully the first part will be up within a week or so if I get time to work on editing it. Just need to come up with a new intro. That's the hardest part...

random thought i just had when rewatching the King Piccolo arc.

King Piccolo had to get in close to check Goku's heartbeat. That means the super hearing Namekians got in the movies isn't canon. This makes me sad for some reason

Namekian super-hearing is canon; Piccolo overheard Trunks telling Goku about the future timeline. Toriyama just hadn't thought of it yet XD (or maybe King Piccolo was so old his hearing was going bad).

The movies however did exaggerate this to ridiculous extents. What's that, movie 8? Piccolo can hear everything from all around the galaxy? Sorry, but...no.

I have come to the conclusion that GafferTape has actually finished ALL of his Dragon Ball Dissection videos and is purposefully withholding them to see us squirm and get impatient. It's how the sick freak gets his kicks.

But seriously man, just re watched the whole series! Great job! Can't wait for the next one. A few questions though.

Why didn't you talk about/mention the Mafu Ba in the 23rd Budokai? The whole "taught me a way...without dying" ? I never hear people talk about that change/inconsistency. It was the thing the Mafu Ba was most known for (other than trapping demons of course).

You usually talk about characters and how they sometimes aren't used well in the story or are just plain forgettable. But are there characters you genuinely dislike?

Do you believe it was a mistake to add a Z to the anime? (I do).

Not including filler arcs,Do your Manga Arc Rankings match your Anime Arc rankings?

Have you thought about a Patreon? I know many here would support it.

How do you define "main character"?

Keep up the great work!

Well, he certainly wasn't as powerful as he once was (better than Goku but still).

Raditz hair reminds me of Sonic.

I'm surprised you didn't mention how this backstory is basically just Superman.

Given Dragon Ball Minus, Toriyama sure does like to borrow from Western Comics.
Going on hiatus. Too much stuff in RL to deal with for me to keep up with posts here for now. Was fun, hope you all have a nice day and future! Volt signing off.

Superman's the better character anyways.

That was some interesting news. I wonder how the story would have flowed if Toriyama still had his previous dragonball editor.

Since I went to bed straight after uploading, I knew I'd get beaten to the punch, but I guess I'll make it official:

DBD: The Saiyan Arc Part 1!

There's a ton of stuff happening in this arc, so please go ahead and tell me things you want to make sure I don't forget to mention or an interesting piece of trivia that really needs to be mentioned (I still can't believe I never noticed that Yamucha's cast changes legs during the Piccolo arc!). I'm not guaranteeing that I necessarily will include every single thing, but I'd hate to miss something.
