In the French novelisation Muri also tells Vegetto that he's a danger to the universe and that his child (taking about Bra before she's born) may one day put him in line. Interesting foreshadowing.

I wonder how XXI fits into all of this? Maybe he's not a threat at all himself and he simply pisses Vegetto off and thus causes a disastrous chain reaction?

Sounds more like DC's Crisis on Two Earths. If earth-prime is destroyed then all other parallel earths will be destroyed as well.

What I can see happening is Vegetto easily dispatching of XXI and then going on some insane rant about how nobody here's going to be a challenge. Gohan, already knowing that Vegetto is potentially a threat to the entire universe if he gets bored and angry, tries to fight or at least calm him down, but he fucking snaps and kills him and decides he might as well just kill everyone since there's nothing useful for him to do. Either Bra taps into her true power and defeats him like Mouri warned, or Goku and Vegeta fuse.

But Piccolo in Bardock's vision said that all the universes were in danger. Wouldn't you try to prevent this from happening? Rambo would, and Bardock is kind of Rambo.

Well, Mouri did say in the U16 fanfic that Vegetto's child might eventually have to put him in check. I'm just going off of what little evidence we have so far.

Vegetto doesn't seem to be doing this to save anybody. Everything seems to point to Vegetto being evil. Like Gohan being killed and Bra's words.

What if Vegetto notices that if the tournament continues a really, really bad guy (XXI?) will end up winning and get the wishes, which will ultimately screw over the multiverse. So Vegetto essentially tries to force the tournament to end early so as to prevent that occurrence through everybody just leaving/forfeiting. And if he doesn't get them to forfeit then outright killing everybody is a last ditch effort to end the tournament since they all would be resurrected as promised by the organizers.

So Piccolo's warning is actually in favor of Vegetto. He'd be saying that the multiverse is in danger and this might be the only way to save it. Vegetto may be strangling Gohan because Gohan knows that if Vegetto flips out like that then his universe won't get the same treatment and Pan won't be brought back which leads to a confrontation.

Well I say that Vegetto becomes evil, and Goku and Vegeta fuses into Gogeta. Gogeta appears to be stronger than Vegetto, because U18 Goku and Vegeta separately trained harder than U16 Vegeto alone/with Bra. And so 30 minutes (less if it becomes a battle of SS3s) is gonna be enough for Gogeta to finish Vegetto.
