Re: New Freeza Talkback
Someone posted a clip of it a while back, but before the new episodes were premiering, Nicktoons was airing a promo where final-form Freeza had a speaking line ("the gloves are coming off this round"). It was similar to the first form, naturally, but more deep and masculine. A sort of in-between of the first and second. If anyone can find that clip again it'd probably serve as a better explanation than I'm giving right now, or you could just wait for tonight's episode.
Suffice to say, from that one line, it didn't sound like exactly 'the same' voice as the first form to me. Just a bit deeper. And Nakao pretty much uses the same voice for the first and final forms anyways.

Episode 40 is up on the NT site now that we know about the little trick to get them a few hours before TV does.

Final form voice is exactly like the base form voice as previously reported by Ayers himself.

Wow, that's actually the first time in a long while that I've watched a full episode of Kai in either version, and I have to say that I'm impressed, both in Kai of itself and of the English dub.
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

Re: New Freeza Talkback
Caught the late show last night then hit the hay.......Sounded just right for the final form....Soft but with a sadistic tone

I was watching the episode with a friend and when Ayres did that Nakao chuckle not once, but TWICE... well I was rolling on the ground going through some kind of Herbal Essences "YES... YES..." ordeal.
He had no idea what was going on.

The missing lipstick on Freeza is ALWAYS so jarring to me. I never not notice it.
Chris was fantastic in the episode. He's easily one of the best voices I've ever heard for Freeza.

Ya know, it's funny, I had the same reaction, but it really is weird, isn't it? It's not even an actual line, it's a chuckle--it's a sound effect. We shouldn't be this excited over a loyally-emulated English chuckle.ohaimynameiserik wrote:I was watching the episode with a friend and when Ayres did that Nakao chuckle not once, but TWICE... well I was rolling on the ground going through some kind of Herbal Essences "YES... And yet we are.

Good... now top of it off with a 'oh-hohohoho' or two....
Re: New Freeza Talkback
It's one of those things that managed to get spread on the internet. Fortunately I knew Don Brown voiced Kaio before I'd even heard Dave Ward was being credited for it at some places, which made me go wtf.linkdude20002001 wrote:RazorX wrote:Don Brown voiced Kaio in the Ocean dub. Daizenshuu EX has Kaioh listed as "Dave Ward" for movie three! I'm so confused...! >_<
I feel like I should recognize these actors better... I should go watch more Ocean dubbed anime!! :O
Interesting, I wonder how he managed to come to that conclusion....Gaffer Tape wrote:I know I always thought it was Dave Ward because that's who Chris Psaros always claimed it was. Maybe that's how this spread...
Re: New Freeza Talkback
Back in the day, the English credits for DBZ were pretty iffy. Basically, there was just a huge list of actors on screen for a couple of seconds, with no indication of who played which character (and I believe they sometimes even omitted actors entirely), so pretty much all of Psaros' info was based on interviews and conjecture (for example, you don't need a credits list to hear that Chris Sabat plays Piccolo, Vegeta and Yamcha in the current dub.)RazorX wrote:It's one of those things that managed to get spread on the internet. Oh the Saban credits, yeah I suppose that back then guesswork would've been involved.ThunderPX wrote:Back in the day, the English credits for DBZ were pretty iffy. Re: New Freeza Talkback
That's because that was the industry law back then. They were allowed to credit the Japanese cast by role, but for the English cast, they could only say, "English Voices," and then just list all the actors without mentioning what they did specifically. That has changed in recent years, which I firmly believe is a good thing. Why not credit both casts?ThunderPX wrote:Back in the day, the English credits for DBZ were pretty iffy. Re: New Freeza Talkback
I just watched Episode 44 online earlier today, and it was fantastic thanks to Ayres. Even with an edited-for-TV script, his voicework for Freeza is so bone-chillingly intimidating and perfect for the character. I can't wait to snatch up more DVDs.

Re: New Freeza Talkback
It's too bad that FUNimation is making that so darned difficult. The show itself is dubbed so far as 4th form Freeza? REALLY?!
I understand that the delay between releases is most likely quality control, but come on. I've been out of the DragonBall loop for too long that I can settle for spoonfuls of 13 episodes every 3-5 months. ^_^;

Re: New Freeza Talkback
Well, first off, they've got to keep a good pace around the Japanese release, so they don't catch up too fast. Then, they need to let the TV release settle on people before they release the DVD, or the TV version won't make as much money. Don't worry, the set with 27-39 is coming out soon, and the following set won't be too far behind. The sets are coming out decently fast for a series that's running live.Li'l Lemmy wrote:It's too bad that FUNimation is making that so darned difficult. Re: New Freeza Talkback
That's true, though I fully expect them to take at least a few months (maybe more) off from new episodes after the end of the Freeza Saga. The Japanese run hasn't even hit the Cell Games yet, and at the rate Funimation's going, it would catch up by April or May.Mewzard wrote:Well, first off, they've got to keep a good pace around the Japanese release, so they don't catch up too fast. My guess is that they're going to take at least the Spring off on Nicktoons. Kai DVD 4 will probably be released in April or May. The Cell stuff will likely resume in the summer or fall, followed by another break before getting to the Buu episodes.
Re: New Freeza Talkback
It's probably also because not everyone is so crazy about the series that they'd be willing to put down the $40-55 once a month or however often people would prefer releases. When a product comes out too often people lose interest and there's a drop in sales as a result. Over-saturation is not a good thing to most people.
