"Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I absolutely had no problems with this. The pacing was fine imo. People blow it out of proportion and just wanna see action without development to the story. Oh, and yes- I prefer manga over anime.

Or maybe... just maybe, we enjoy Toyotaro's take on events. Maybe it's relevance shouldn't live and die by its relations with the show.GodVegetto91 wrote:Well it's no problem if you're an absolute manga freak. And you just enjoy it for the sake of it. But if you're like me, and a lot of people who grew up with the anime, a manga only serves it's purpose if it includes spoilers.
But the fact of the matter is, it was a whole lot better back in the day when we got out of the freeza arc straight into the whole U6 stuff.

Nice bits of information, like the U12 Time Traveler, but overall not very interesting chapter.

Everything about that Dragon Ball Kart I adored. Seeing Goku and Vegeta play video games is also so surreal. That should have been animated. I'd have loved to see that been in the anime.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Pretty much this, Super anime is what you get when the fans who just want to see fights win.ryou766 wrote:I absolutely had no problems with this. The pacing was fine imo. As always thank you for the summary!TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Chapter 17 notes. Much more enjoyable than the anime version, and lots of little extra details too. Loving it.
That Universe 12 tidbit is such a tease, I'm a sucker for stuff like that. While I don't have much hope it means anything, it could be the precedent of how Zeno handled humans breaking the time taboo. Based on Mr.Toriyama words, Zeno still has a role to play in the arc. I don't think giving Goku a button fills the quota.
Like usual there's more care for details in manga, when compared with the anime. The difference in how Zamasu learns about Goku is significant from the anime to the manga, it's a difference much more impactfull than Kaioken vs no Kaioken in the previous arc. I wonder what was Mr.Toriyama outline...
Kaioshin being worried about Kibito's attitude regarding humans is awesome.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
For clarification, Gowasu wasn't a Kaioshin student 400 years ago? Or is that referring to Zamasu? I'm trying to gauge whether Gowasu became Kaioshin at a late age or if Zamasu studied 400 years.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:<swish>

I haven't even seen the manga yet but that brief summary alone sounds great! Thank you so much for all you do.LightBing wrote:As always thank you for the summary!TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Chapter 17 notes. Much more enjoyable than the anime version, and lots of little extra details too. Loving it.

Yeah, I don't enjoy this chapter. Yeah, the kart race and the "That bastard has a suspicious face." line cracks me up, but the way F!Trunks overall acts here really irks me.
When Super apparently shoves Goku down our throats:

I think it means that the last time someone used the Time Ring, it was 400 years before Gowasu became a student (which could be millions of years ago).Nejishiki wrote:For clarification, Gowasu wasn't a Kaioshin student 400 years ago? Yeah. They were last used, presumably only in Universe 10, 400 years prior to whenever Gowasu was a Kaiōshin in training. There's no further context for where that falls in the grand scheme of things.Sandubadear wrote:I think it means that the last time someone used the Time Ring. it was 400 years before Gowasu became a student (which could be millions of years ago).Nejishiki wrote:For clarification, Gowasu wasn't a Kaioshin student 400 years ago? How is he supposed to act? Depressed/solemn 24/7? Of course he's still thinking about his future, but he's spending quality time with his family in things he never got to do in his timeline for the time being.Kanassa wrote:F!Trunks overall acts here really irks me.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I checked the manga again, but i didn't see Grand Priest appearing on Whis' staff to call him. Unless he was mentioned??
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
You're reading his character based on how he appears from the OUTSIDE. The summary literally says it bothers Trunks that he has to rely on Goku and Vegeta because he wanted to become stronger and finish Black off himself. Obviously he's hurting on the inside, but being slump over it won't change anything. This is something that happens all the time in manga and in anime too.Psykomatik wrote:Well, he just lost his mother, his "girlfriend", and he's acting like everything's fine...
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I wouldn't say he's acting like everything is fine but he does seem better. He's seeing that same mother that he lost in the present timeline. The same timeline that his other loved ones are in, such as Vegeta.Psykomatik wrote: Well, he just lost his mother, his "girlfriend", and he's acting like everything's fine...
He was pretty much depressed and angry when for the first chapter in the arc. It's good that he can relax and feel like everything will be taken care of. I mean, the guy spent most of his life in terror and pain. He needs this kind of love and fun around him.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
The first chapter I've enjoyed in quite a long time! I'm indifferent on the kart thing, because I'm not a big fan of either that type of games or cars in general, but I really liked the Zamasu stuff. The barbarians having different and unique designs was cool
(even though they were the standard henchmen body types
). Beerus spitting the beer on Kaioshin was great too!
What I don't like is the pacing. Everything seems to be going way too fast and events seem disconnected or at least, they don't flow better into one another. I understand that he is limited by having a monthly manga and he is trying to keep things close to the anime, but it's still an issue for me.
I also wonder if the anime already revealing that Black is Zamasu influenced Toyotaro, since in this chapter it is pretty much phoned in that the two are one and the same, without trying to build the mystery.

Pretty great chapter! Though I wonder who the time-traveler from Universe 12 was... That's very interesting..

I could die happy if Toyotaro put them back in their RoF outfits. I doubt it though.Xeztin wrote:Pretty great chapter! Though I wonder who the time-traveler from Universe 12 was... That's very interesting..
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
That clarification of the chapter actually made it a lot better. For some reason it reminded me of when Cell was running around killing people, the androids driving to Goku's house and the warriors searching and everyone doing something different. This was really well done and I really like how Zamasu looks when drawn by Toyo he has a more sinister look to him. The explanations were really good and I'm sure as we continue everything that is cleared up will be good. Now correct me if I am wrong but Whis, Goku, Beerus and Kaioshin are going to talk to Kabito after they visit Zeno?
