Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 79
I'm really interested to see the staff for episodes 83 and beyond, they seem to be using pretty much all of their animation supervisors in these past few episodes in some capacity with the exception of Karasawa(Who I really think is gone now), I hope there is some new staff that will show up after 82.

You are right the "filler" episodes before the tournament delivered a lot of consistency in terms of art and animation due to the main staff working on them.ArchedThunder wrote:I'm really interested to see the staff for episodes 83 and beyond, they seem to be using pretty much all of their animation supervisors in these past few episodes in some capacity with the exception of Karasawa(Who I really think is gone now), I hope there is some new staff that will show up after 82.
Maybe now they want to fully "drain" their "outsourcing" staff as an attempt to allow their guys to have some spare time.

Not specifically for this episode, but i'd just wanna say that i'll take Yamamuro over Kitano any day. Kitano's art/animation is just so unappealing to me. Yamamuro may not have the best detailed art, or may also have pretty stiff animation these days, but imo, Yamamuro>Kitano.

Glad to know now that Manabe isn't a big animator. Honestly, if Karasawa really is gone now, we just have these two as big animation supervisors now, and that's reaaaaly depressing...Mazingerdestro wrote:You are right the "filler" episodes before the tournament delivered a lot of consistency in terms of art and animation due to the main staff working on them.ArchedThunder wrote:I'm really interested to see the staff for episodes 83 and beyond, they seem to be using pretty much all of their animation supervisors in these past few episodes in some capacity with the exception of Karasawa(Who I really think is gone now), I hope there is some new staff that will show up after 82.

Am I the only one noticing the Kaioken Kamehameha reference to Saiyan saga? The animator is the same, the effects are similar, the technique is the same.
I'm worried about Karasawa's absence, too. I hope he'll supervise episode 84, at this point.

I disagree. Gohans episode and even this episode were still much higher than the average in DB super.Mazingerdestro wrote:You are right the "filler" episodes before the tournament delivered a lot of consistency in terms of art and animation due to the main staff working on them.ArchedThunder wrote:I'm really interested to see the staff for episodes 83 and beyond, they seem to be using pretty much all of their animation supervisors in these past few episodes in some capacity with the exception of Karasawa(Who I really think is gone now), I hope there is some new staff that will show up after 82.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Nope, I actually tweeted about it as it happened. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Really nice work all around.gaberparadiso wrote:Am I the only one noticing the Kaioken Kamehameha reference to Saiyan saga? The animator is the same, the effects are similar, the technique is the same.
I just rewatched the NEP. I'm not seeing anything Karasawa-esque, just lots of Itai!Psykomatik wrote:I believe the last 2 seconds of the preview are Karasawa. The shot with the black eye of Goku turning blue, and then the reaction shot of Topo. Could anyone tell me if i'm dreaming or am i really seeing Karasawa here?

At this point, we can only think that he went on holidays (? or just the directors, or whoever is in charge of making the staff list, don't need him/her yet.

I wish, but he was was recently spotted animating on and supervising an episode of ēlDLIVE. Not the first time he's done other work in between episodes, but it's a little concerning.Alee9977 wrote:At this point, we can only think that he went on holidays (? or just the directors, or whoever is in charge of making the staff list, don't need him/her yet.

In other scary news, Nagamine is one of the directors behind the new One Piece special. Hope he can juggle two things well.

Looks like it, he's nowhere to be seen in the NEP and he's not shown up on Super since December.Octorockandroll wrote:KARASAWA IS GONE!!??!?!?!!Psykomatik wrote: Glad to know now that Manabe isn't a big animator. Maybe! Perhaps they're just saving him for the big upcoming episodes (the real tournament, the real deal), but yeah, maybe he's gone...Octorockandroll wrote:KARASAWA IS GONE!!??!?!?!!Psykomatik wrote: Glad to know now that Manabe isn't a big animator. Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 79
#81
First off, this episode was very patchwork, it's very similar in that aspect to #80, I'm glad that there was also a smaller number of Key animators this episode.
The first half had a lot of dialogue in it, which is good to see. When the action began, it was pretty conservative for the most part, but did have a lot decent stuff. However I noticed it got stiffer as time went on. Nice to see Shimanuki's art on decent animation.
The second half was very iffy at points, though I think Shimanuki's beam struggle at the end more than made up for it, really loved his debris effects there.
Overall, I would say the majority of the action in this episode was stronger than the first half of #79, but was still the worst animated of the tournament fights due to them cutting a lot of corners in places.
The only noteable scene from the episode was this cool rotation at the start of the fight.
Extended version
I was referring to big animators delivering a lot of work. I was unaware that Manabe had done a lot of work recently. Thank you for point it out.Psykomatik wrote: Glad to know now that Manabe isn't a big animator. My mistake, it's a mini-arc not a special. Was mislead by a tweet. That is somehow worse.ArchedThunder wrote:What the actual fuck. When does it air?
It begins two weeks from now, but I'm not sure how long the filler arc is going to be.

Oh man, I so didn't need to hear this. Especially since Karasawa has seemingly jumped ship, too.Ajay wrote:My mistake, it's a mini-arc not a special. Was mislead by a tweet. That is somehow worse.ArchedThunder wrote:What the actual fuck. When does it air?

Doesn't the next big arc start in April? So probably not too long. Is he the sole SD for the mini arc or not? With One Piece having a much better production schedule who knows when he started work on that compared to Super.Ajay wrote:My mistake, it's a mini-arc not a special. Was mislead by a tweet.
