It might be the facial structure + the colors. I'll fix it when I get a chance. Thanks for the advice.Captain Strawberry wrote:The face? He reminds of grey Buunite_jay wrote:What do you mean by that? Do you mean the face, or the clothes?Captain Strawberry wrote:

Fixed. Compared to the other picture his face does look a little too much on the thin side.

not gonna lie, it's fun coloring like the full color manga run. I actually prefer it.

Dragon Ball /Z/GT/Super is a children's show and there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm not very familiar with the Jojo's Bizzare Adventure universe, but I'm quite fond of Mr. Araki's artstyle of the series. So I wanted to give it a try and draw SSJR Goku Black in JBA's artstyle. I tried to make him look like Dio Brando, since you feel like they give off the same vibe. Hopefully I didn't screw that up.Alruneia wrote:Someone should absolutely make a Black-Dio team picture. Perhaps including The World and Zamasu acting like Black's Stand. Like, those four standing together, posing. I'm reaching a little bit with the Stand part, but Black and Dio's vibes are so similar that I think it'd work really well.

By the way, that's a glass of Rosé wine he's holding... because, you know, Super Saiyan Rosé. I was thinking of putting the rose in his hair, but I thought "maybe it's not very "Jojo-esque"(?)", so I just drew it in the corner since I didn't know where else I could put it.

I'm not sure where the rose would fit. Maybe instead of the wine? I like the rosé wine in his hand better, though.
Your other Black drawings are great as well, by the way! Not spoilering the image since it deserves to be seen again.

As a long time JoJo fan, I find it necessary to tell you that crazy colors are Araki's style. The flower resting to the side is also something the artist would do, except in more elaborate fashion. If you truly wish to emulate him, color in that hair as vibrantly as you can muster and the lips, as well.mawilex wrote:I'm not very familiar with the Jojo's Bizzare Adventure universe, but I'm quite fond of Mr. Araki's artstyle of the series. How about making the rose his Stand and give it some special powers? This way we won't bother with where to put it anymore. x)Alruneia wrote:I'm not sure where the rose would fit. Maybe instead of the wine? I like the rosé wine in his hand better, though.
Anyhoo, I'm very glad you liked the drawing. ^^
I don't usually color my drawings in general so the idea never crossed my mind actually, but I'll take that into consideration next time.Nejishiki wrote:As a long time JoJo fan, I find it necessary to tell you that crazy colors are Araki's style. Overall, you have the feeling of his faces down with decent anatomy.
I'll eventually get some Art-Book of his in the future, but I think I'll start with getting the manga before that. I think it's very important to learn about the JoJo universe and the characters first. Drawing is not simply joining lines together in hope for the final result to "look good", it's a way of expressing yourself: it's a language. So if I want to learn the JoJo language, I need to be able to read it and speak it properly, and for that, I need to go to the country that speaks that language and learn about its culture. That country is the manga. Though I heard that it's a pretty big country, so big that even its inhabitants are still discovering new cities every month! I might as well prepare a big sum of money before I travel to there.
Anyway, thanks for the advices, Nejishiki!

Re: Fan Works Explosion
I'm actually more satisfied with that option! I wasn't too sure if you read the manga for JoJo, but you're definitely on the right track for wanting to experience it yourself. His strengths are solidifying the otherworldly and "bringing flesh" to contortions rarely considered, be it human or alien. If Japanese isn't your fancy, the French adaption is very faithful itself. Unfortunately, English releases have always been behind, even now. Essentially, yes, familiarizing yourself with how he changed over the course of decades is the way to go. I could go on about how Araki alters the way he expresses the same emotions in different periods of his artwork. His special covers especially decipher the type of artist he is and his inspirations are blatant at a glance, yet the worlds he crafts are never short of a story. His interpretation of his daughters is a personal favorite of mines with his "recent" works. You'll have to read his stories to see his more complicated lines as I don't wish to spoil it. Also, I'm not particularly saying to color the entire works, but a limited palette is more along the lines that makes the power of the transformation pop out in an "Araki-way". I'm not sure if you know this, but he traveled often to supplement his work, with Italy being his favorite place. Japananese references are a good starting point and I encourage it for the sake of worldliness, but you have quite the trail on your hands if you're following what makes him tick and increasing your own skill. Glad to see you take on the challenge though!mawilex wrote:I don't usually color my drawings in general so the idea never crossed my mind actually, but I'll take that into consideration next time.

That last 90's Black is amazing. The color is a little saturated for my taste though.

Re: Fan Works Explosion
Yeah, he loves his orange brick colors (and not even the colors from the better looking episodes...), and he's still stuck in the Cell era art style, but if Super was made back in the 90s, it would have followed the Buu-arc's art style.
This is what Super Saiyan Blue would have looked like if Super was created right after Z:

Re: Fan Works Explosion
I recently just revisited a short little fan animation of Vegeta I saw on youtube a year or so back. Here it is. It's by a guy named Moxie2D. He's got a Gohan one as well. Also, for the Faulconer fans, someone made a version of it in a loop with "Gohan's Anger" tacked onto it.
