Also really liked the Gokû's fighting smarts bit and the unreasonably buff bird.

I really liked this one. Very good episode. One of the best in sometime I think. My favourite part was Goku being smart, cause who'd a thunk it, he is pretty intelligent in his area of expertise.

Cell's taunt about Trunks letting Gohan die kind of highlights a problem of the Cell arc for me: the story never really did anything with the whole mentor/student dynamic when Trunks goes back to the past.

Hikari no Willpower HYPE!!

But, I've got to say, you actually made Trunks pretty interesting in this episode. Like how you made it so that his past failures were actually weighing on him. He honestly isn't that interesting in the original when he doesn't have a Vegeta around to want to impress, but you gave him characterisation in this episode. It made that moment of him beating down Cell even MORE awesome. Kai tried to do that as well, but your version was shorter and sweeter.

The Goku and Gohan scenes have started to get a little tedious, but...they'll be over by next episode, anyway. Same with the Bulma/Piccolo/Tenshinhan peanut gallery. Although Tenshinhan's grudge against Vegeta will never not be funny.

With Trunks' comments, it feels like the Cell Games is just Cell trying to throw literally everything in their face. Which is fair, because they DID cause all of this. This part of the series always felt like their mistakes coming back to bite them. And unlike, say, against Boo, they ACTUALLY seem to want to take responsibility for it.

Anyway, looking forward to the next episode! And Wen Broli.

I don't like the Krillin Owned Count. We only use it anymore because we haven't been able to properly retire it yet.

Don't want to fully suggest anything, especially when you're no doubt already thinking about such things, but perhaps the transition between the Cell and Boo arcs would be a good time? He's happy, he's got a family at long last - there's not really much for him to get 'owned' about anymore by that point in time.

Speaking as a fan of the guy, I've never really been bothered by the Owned Count itself, more so just the way some people seem to use it as actual evidence against the guy as a character. Then again, it's been an issue with a lot of different Abridged trappings when some fans have kind of let it spill over too much into their consciousness about the series itself. A good few years back, Nappa was actually doing amazingly well in a 'favorite anime villains' on the FUNimation Forums, and it was preeeetttyyyy obvious...that people were voting for Abridged Nappa, not...well, Nappa. That's not at all a fault of TFS in any way though, just something I've personally witnessed with fans taking things a little too liberally from you guys' work.

Kuririn's actually had it pretty easy from fans for a while now. The new hip guy to hate on seems to be poor ol' Yamcha.
