When do you think Funimation will announce Super? I guess late this year and air on Toonami by early 2016. I think Funimation didn't get the rights to Super yet because Toei announce it so fast and Funimation didn't had the time to get the rights to it. Not to mention Super is the first DB show in 18 years since GT ended. So its "Japan first, everyone else is second" since the Japanese are always the main target audience for the franchise.

I honestly thought they'd have announced it by now. I think many were expecting an announcement at one of FUNimations panels a couple of weeks back, but zilch.

I've read that Christopher Sabat hinted at some complications with Toei which was causing a hold up but I can't remember exactly what was said. I'm sure they're in negotiations though. It should be at some point in 2016?

Calling it now: We won't even see the first lick of Super footage here in the US until the Toonami airings of Kai (the Buu saga) are wrapping up. Which would help explain why we really haven't seen any announcement of Kai's Buu arc; they've waiting on a TV deal. And considering Adult Swim is the last bastion of hope for anime on US TV, that's pretty much the only avenue they've got. So, we'll be lucky if we see a dub or sub of Super locally by late 2016 at best.

Though if I'm wrong on that, anyone in the know can feel free to correct me.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Doesn't matter the reason. Its still stupid that the most famous anime worlwide is being followed through piracy by the worldwide fanbase, because nobody is streaming it.
Seeing some ordinary anime get the streaming treatment, while Dragon Ball is left like this is stupid.

But the world never made sense anyway.

Which could be in 2018 ? 2019 ?

By that time Super will either be finished or so far ahead no one will care anymore.

I guess what we can take from this is to be careful about what we wish for cause if Toonami didn't come back then at least half the Buu arc would be out by now.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

People will definitely care. Especially for an English dub. I doubt it would be that far off, anyway.

They could release Buu arc Kai online for streaming with relative ease (or if they could get some sort of daily release on TV). Have it online for a while for people to catch up. Then start releasing super. But I think none of that will come until after the release of RoF.

Just musing out loud: wondering if the reason it is not up for streaming is the problem with international licensing to so many companies? If Funimation releases it with English subs, it might wreck the market for licensing in many other countries, since so many people speak a little bit of English. So they might want to release it in Latin America or Europe first, and there is a delay there for some reason. (Not necessarily because that is more or less profitable, but because of conflicts with previous license agreements).

I get Toei are from Japan and of course they'll concentrate on Japan primarily but it seems to me they do not know how big their international market is, if I remember correctly didn't one of representatives from Toei who attended the "F" premiere in LA say they were taken aback by how many people turned up? I mean that's pretty telling, so I guess this means Resurrection "F" being licensed so quickly worldwide was more Fox's doing than Toei's? Sigh.

That could be the reason for Crunchyroll not getting it either, as they usually offer multiple languages and many licensors around the world would be affected. but...isn't that for Dragon Ball/Z/GT? Dragon Ball Super is a new series, a new brand, one would think it requires entirely new agreements.

Maybe Toei thinks simulcasting Super would take away some of their bargaining power, but piracy does that too, so i really don't know if that will make up for what they're losing with millions of people around the world watching their show ilegally every week. If even Kai 2.0 is still having trouble, God knows how long it's gonna take for Super to hit every continent. Maybe the whole world will have watched it already.

Anyway, i don't think it's all about Toei still being stuck in the past as they used to be, since they simulcast all their other shows except Precure (which is barely known in the West). Even the last One Piece tv movie got it. There must be a better reason.

Dragon Ball's always been a weird odd man out when it comes to streaming. Lots of Toei stuff like One PIece for example is usually everywhere with all the episodes, but Dragon Ball is multiple series and some sites have some parts and some have others and it's a whole mishmash. If Kai and Super get lost on it somewhere I won't be surprised.

Really looking forward to the next episode, episode 3's the first one so far that's really left me waiting for more.

Could be worse. Crunchyroll acquired Saint Seiya's prequel, its sequel, its other sequel...and not the main series XD

Agree on anticipating the next episode. Plot's really rolling now!

I disagree. Funimation is the one who makes the TV deals. They probably won't announce anything about DBS until RoF is out in theaters. Toonami is secondary to Funimation since they're more focused on selling dvds/ subscriptions. My guess is that they'll air DBS and Kai back to back on Toonami similar to the old days of having DB and DBZ back to back.

These are cool times that we're living in. :D
