As far as I know, there's been no official press release for this. Also, we have no screenshots and no trailer to go by. I would go as far as to assume that it's going to likely be 16:9 as a larger number of vocal DBZ fans would rather have it that way, but there's still a chance that they'll change their minds.KingofWisdom wrote:I've noticed the Walmart listing also says widescreen for this set. I wonder if that comment regarding the unfinalized aspect ratio was just to get our hopes up.

"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

That cover is flippin' awesome.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

The cover is rather fun. Maybe throw a Vegeta in there
Maybe I'll pick up the 2nd volume to fill my Namek gap. Even if it's 16x9 I hope the color is better than the season sets (especially for the Namek saga)
The "more vibrant color of this ultimate Dragon Ball Z release closely mirrors the visual aesthetics of today’s entertainment" has me interested because wasn't that the same reason they changed the colors originally (to update them *so to speak*)?

Wow, FUNimation needs to pay Toei extra for a good artist.

Did they do any sort of audio cleanup before for the 1st Blu ray? I can't remember.
Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-Ray (Updated 10
I don't recall them saying so. All evidence pointed to them using the Dragon Box audio for the Japanese track.eledoremassis02 wrote:Did they do any sort of audio cleanup before for the 1st Blu ray? I can't remember.

And right there, they've lost any sort of money I'd give towards them.

Rather than just buying a dozen copies per paycheck of each release you want to prove that it is the only way for the series to be released?KentalSSJ6 wrote:And this is why I torrent...

Dont get me wrong. I torrent as a way of renting. I dont have the money to go out and buy a season set or box set these days so I torrent the show until I do have the cash. I have bought physical copies of every show I ever torrented and I torrent as a way of seeing if a product is any good or not. If I dont like it, I just delete it and dont buy it. If I do like it, I get a physical copy when possible then delete the torrent.JulieYBM wrote:Rather than just buying a dozen copies per paycheck of each release you want to prove that it is the only way for the series to be released?KentalSSJ6 wrote:And this is why I torrent...

You're gonna get a scolding from the higher ups for admitting to piracy 'round these parts...KentalSSJ6 wrote:Dont get me wrong. I torrent as a way of renting. I'm aware its a possibility. I'm just saying I'm not one of those guys who just grabs all seasons of so and so and never buys it from the store. I pay for it like everyone else. Well, mostly everyone else, cant speak for others.

How so? If anything it really makes the product stand out. I wanna say that's Yamamuro's work. (Sorry if I spelled that wrong.)SupremeSSJ wrote:if so I would hate it.

I kinda like it. Not that box art is all that important.
"Those transformations insane,
They wanna turn up hours late and steal the show from the pros who had to die for the name." - Yamcha (DBWTF: Z-Rap 3)
"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot

Like the box-art, hate the widescreen, hate even more they're actually hyping the work they put into cropping it; maybe I'll just buy it and hope we'll get a Dragon Box-like Blu later
