The ED and episode were better than what I was expecting.

Ah, so Higashide was on it, then he was responsible for the awesome cut in the second half.
Yamamuro soloed the ED? I'm surprised, at first I thought it was Tsuji, but then once the more masculine characters came in I had no idea who it was, I wouldn't have guessed Yamamuro, the art looked really nice.
Interesting to see him return to that role, makes me wonder if that means we'll see him pop up on an episode.

There were other great cuts.

I may be stupid to ask, but did anyone spot Yamamuro in NEP? I really dunno how to define it, the fight Goku/Boo looks like him to me, but i'm afraid i'm saiying another false thing...

Speaking about the ED, it had too many still shots for my taste.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

The NEP is up on Fuji TV's site, Goku is definitely Ide during that bout.
I don't see any Ono though, but we also saw no Tsuji in the NEP for today's episode and she ended up dominating it.

The best thing about the tournament rules is that flying is not allowed, it's a limited 48 minute battle royale so you have to kick someone out so not much scope for beam struggles. This means we might get some really grounded action animation instead of the usual shit cracking and characters vanishing in the sky, looped frames and all that stuff. Today's episode sort of did that in the helipad fight, more techniques rather than who can blow more shit up. Like how do you guys imagine they'll stretch those 48 minutes? Cuz there's no way they'll end the main fight in 3 episodes, there has to be something in between, like Freeza's 5 minute charm or some shit like that
Feel free to correct me if I say something wrong.

Thanks! I'm really no good at spotting those. Maybe someone (Ajay?) should do some sort of video-comparison to visually show how to spot Yamamuro / Ide / Karasawa / Tsuji etc. When it comes to on-model animation supervisor, i'm really no good.

I really liked this episode, so pilished, this is how a Super episode should be.
I'm starting to change the image I used to have of Yashima, his episodes are really good.

Flying is allowed, but not outside of the arena.

Ah I see. My point was that there's scope for more grounded action this time due to the restrictions.

Love the short staff list.
Yashima did everything with some Higashide providing that great moment in the second half but I didn't spot Tsuji.

The ending was unbelievably good looking (Yamamuro's art is crazy. If only half of the staff could draw that good).

Next week Ide gives us a great piccolo!!!

Don't count on it, he's undoubtedly had to draw a lot of designs for this arc, even if it's not as many as we initially thought. He didn't bother with the last arc, even when there were several episodes that could have used touch-ups from him. Most of those were Kitano's episodes, which seems to be his favorite guy to work with, so yeah, I definitely wouldn't expect him to show up in the tournament unless it's an emergency.

If that's true that's pretty cool, that'd be two storyboards in a row that he did that are actually pretty good.
I'm starting to think Yamamuro may have taken the criticism he faced during BoG and F to heart.

Could be the case, but one thing that would really help him improve is working on the actual series. It's done wonders for Shimanuki, and I'm sure Yamamuro has the capacity for self-improvement. He's not even that old, is he?

Next week, we're getting everything: Blu-ray box 6, Animage/NewType, DBS 86 preview ft. No.17, and probably new names for characters. Gonna be an exciting week! :D
