What about this ending made you like it more than his previous work ?Ajay wrote:Episode 84
Key animator
Yashima Yoshitaka Higashide Futoshi
2nd key animator
Yokoyama Miyuki Tu Yeong-chaek Suzuki Kai A-Line TAP
I really enjoyed that, actually. Pretty good work all around. Most of Yashima's janky character art was corrected by Tsuji, so it was only a few shots that disrupted the flow of very consistent character art.
Higashide handled the vast majority of the action in the second half, though there's a few things by him in the first, too. As always, he produces great work on any schedule. The guy isn't human.
Second key animation by Yokoyama stands out in the second half pretty clearly.
New ED was soloed by Yamamuro, and honestly, I dig it. No complaints.

We don't know when the tournament starts yet though. We have had two episodes and in verse only 2hrs have been passed so it could be a while, and if he does show up past 89 and it isn't the ToP then I will be mad.ArchedThunder wrote:No Karasawa? Same here, I am expecting it to start #89. If not by the very end of #88. Anything could happen, but that is what I am expecting.

So nobody expect Shimanuki in the next batch? He's been using constantly each 5 episodes since episode 61.
61 - 66 - 71 - 76 - 81
So why not 86?

Why you guys think so soon? We are literally at a snails pace now 38 hrs left, the recruitment of #17 begins in #86 I dunno I think #88/89 for the actual ToP is a bit too soon, I'd wager around the early 90's.Sodhi wrote:Same here, I am expecting it to start #89. He just showed up last week to do 2nd KA, that's part of it.Psykomatik wrote:So nobody expect Shimanuki in the next batch? He's been using constantly each 5 episodes since episode 61.
61 - 66 - 71 - 76 - 81

For no particular reason I feel like 89 will be Karasawa, 90 will be either Tate or Manabe, maybe both, and then 91 will be Shimanuki.
I get the feeling the slow passage of time right now is just so they can get the whole team together in a reasonable amount of time and then have (in universe) time left for them to do some sort of training.Baggie_Saiyan wrote: Why you guys think so soon? I just found out that Higashide has been an AS, a storyboarder and an Episode director before too. Now I know he can do that stuff too.

It'd be great if in the future (if/when the production is in a pretty normal place and staff availability isn't an issue) he got promoted to Supervisor and directed and storyboarded some of his own episodes.Sodhi wrote:I just found out that Higashide has been an AS, a storyboarder and an Episode director before too. Dude deserves the pay of a supervisor after all of this.

Where in my "really really good" did I state that Yashima's episodes are garbage? Didn't need to state that his episodes are always average , we already know that smh...Mazingerdestro wrote:It's not like Yashima ever delivered garbage.neolux wrote:This episode looked really really good!.Who would've guessed that we would say that about a Yashima episode.
These almost solo episodes look always at worse average and at best great.

Okay this isn't exactly animation related but more colour related but figured I'd ask here, wondering if anyone can help me out. So I was watching Super on my laptop and SSG Goku looked like this:

But when I plugged my laptop into my TV via HDMI the same shot of SSG Goku now looked like this:

Why is there such a difference?

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 84
Yeah, Higashide's a pretty seasoned and versatile veteran. Perhaps his most notable role before carrying Super was with Production IG where he directed and storyboarded one of the entries in Gotham Knight (Crossfire).Sodhi wrote:I just found out that Higashide has been an AS, a storyboarder and an Episode director before too. He's been a dedicated action director on several shows, too. I suppose going by hierarchy, you'd say being the series director on Gokujyo would be his biggest role, but certainly not his most well known.
He's one talented guy and we're very lucky to have him, that's for sure!
Good question. There are a couple of aspects that really stood out to me. Primarily, this is the first time in a while that we've seen Yamamuro's effects work. It all but confirms that this scene is actually him and not a correction; the effects work is so similar. I also really dig the explosion towards the start - it's a lot like Karasawa's in #61, actually.kinisking wrote:What about this ending made you like it more than his previous work ?
On top of that, the Super Saiyan Blue Goku that flies toward the screen is really nicely drawn. Rather than looking bubbly and wide faced like many of his shots in Resurrection 'F', it's got that slimmer look to it that we usually see Higashide adopt. It's a nice change.
There's certainly a fair bit that I don't like, but they're rooted in his design sheets, so whatever. I'm tired of complaining about them.

It seems your TV's colour balance is totally off, while your laptop is displaying things correctly. Fiddle with the saturation and colour balance settings on your TV until it matches your laptop.

Just screen settings on your TV. If you don't like it, tweak until you get it to how you want. I usually use theater settings on my screens.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Okay this isn't exactly animation related but more colour related but figured I'd ask here, wondering if anyone can help me out. A lot of TV's factory settings and presets are really bad. They have everything turned up to max with destructive settings on to look good to the average consumer on the shop floor. They're rarely faithful.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Ohh okay I just checked on a secondary laptop and it is the same as the first laptop shot so that makes sense, cheers! My advice is to set the label on your input to 'PC', which usually automatically disables all the bullshit enabled on those TVs. It'll also bring your response time right down if you use your TV for games!
After that, bring up this site and walk through it on your TV. For the sake of ease, just stick with contrast, sharpness, black level, and white saturation.
It's pretty simple to follow and it'll give you a much more natural and accurate image. For a 100% accurate display, I always recommend a calibration tool, but that's overkill for most people.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 84
I would say the big thing for me is that his art feels more "alive" and less stiff than it usually does, which is why when I first saw the ED I didn't think Yamamuro.Ajay wrote: Good question. This nose got me really excited for a second;

But it was just perspective making him draw it like that;

His eyes in this ED looked a lot closer to his Z eyes, there's still not quite enough curve to the brow, but it's certainly an improvement.
In general, yeah, it's still not quite where it needs to be, front on noses are still an issue, stern and angry mouths aren't quite as expressive as they should be for example, but him seemingly improving his art is exciting, I just wish that he could improve at a rate more similar to Shimanuki.
If Yamamuro is given a chance to redo all of the main cast's designs at some point in the future I'm curious how close they will end up being to the Z designs.

-Episode 84-
Okay episode. I was kinda worried about this one but turned out to be all right
Always love Higashide work, but the stupid censorship didn't let me to fully enjoy it this time.I thought we were over that but looks like a scratch in the face (when Goku was cut by the Kienzan) is still a big thing for some people. During Buu vs Basil fight, when Satan got hurt there was blood. What's their problem?!
I also wonder what will be Higashide's purpose in life when Super ends (and if there's not other DB anime to work at). He lives for this.
Maybe if they gave him enough time he could solo the Tournament.
NEP looks perfect!!
-Ending-
Damn!! How I love Yamamuro art <3
He soloed that and I love all shots! The music also turned out to be much better than I expected.
Now waiting for something, anything, from him in the tournament.
