Yes they do, but if they get it, it'll be quite natural if Portugal gets it afterwards. Don't forget we recently got Kai too. I wouldn't say Dragon Ball is the most popular thing in Portugal, but it is still in the hearts of many many people and has had non-stop re-runs since it first aired.dbboxkaifan wrote:France and Spain have better chances of receiving this than Portugal.

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
Anime and manga are badly treated in Portugal, for example, ASA's Astro Boy's manga was supposed to be coming out but it was cancelled, just like their Dragon Ball manga.
Something quite new that's been released on DVD is D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers but the price is fucking absurd 2.99€ for 2 episodes, and the price increases more keeping the same small amount of episodes.
Portugal should just air Spanish dubbed animes and sub it, well, even the subs are bad (not always), but the video/dub is kept intact.

No, most of them are still alive and kicking. The only ones I can know that have passed on are Take'uchi Tomekichi and Uchiyama Masayuki.shonenhikada wrote:So what is this about ?Goten wrote:No.shonenhikada wrote:Are the original film animators / directors all dead ?

Well, until Toei Animation decides to dust off their celluloid sheets and paint brushes, we won't be getting any old school animation as seen in the original TV series back in the day. The main issue is animators. Not too many of the series' original animators are still around these days. The veterans can only do so much to cover all the young talent, so it just is what it is.

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
I don't think this film would be in 3D anyways. That would've been a marketing point that Toei probably would've want to shout since it would be their first theatrical 3D flat film IIRC.
Edit: Actually, I think Digimon may have had a traditionally animated movie presented in 3D. I know One Piece had a CG 3D film, but that's not what I'm talking about here.

3D doesn't interest me; I've always been a fan of IMAX theater screens though.
Anyway, I really want to know what the plot is going to be about; that's the sort of juicy news I'd really be interested in speculating. I also so want more Goku and Vegeta back-and-forth like in the Jump 08 special; that was beautiful.

One Piece 3D: Mugiwara Chase. Oops, my bad. I was referring to the part about Digimon. I've heard about the One Piece 3D feature, but this was the first I'd heard about any Digimon movie presented in 3D. I know it had a CG made-for-TV (I believe) film, Digital Monster X-Evolution, but I don't think it was in 3D the way we're talking about.JulieYBM wrote:One Piece 3D: Mugiwara Chase. 2D animation mixed with 3D animation has worked many times like in Evangelion Rebuild and Futurama.

Yep, and King Yema sent them to HFIL.shonenhikada wrote:Are the original film animators / directors all dead ?

I was wrong though, no Digimon film has been animated flat and then released in 3D.

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
I really liked the Jump 08 special with all the characters and the Goku-Vegeta interaction. There were just a couple of mistakes: Goku used his shunkanidou to go to his home, where there is no people's ki that he could sense; and people knew about Majin Boo, even though their memory had been erased. I hope the writers make their homework this time!Chuquita wrote:3D doesn't interest me; I've always been a fan of IMAX theater screens though.

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
If it's not in 3D then I won't care that much, I think it would be cool to see a Dragon Ball in 3D. Ever since Avatar came out in 2009, most films have been released in 3D. Before that, you would hardly see 3D since I remember Spy Kids 3D was the first 3D movie that I saw in theaters (Not counting the 3D films that you see in a IMAX theater in museums in DC or Baltimore). 3D always seem to make more money for studios which is why Episode I was able to reach one billion world wide thanks to it's 3D re-release that came out earlier this year. If Toei wants to make more money then making it in 3D would make sense.

Pawn @ Avatar was basically a demo for 3D to see how it'd do in theatres.
Hopefully the film won't get screwed by gimmicks like 3D.

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
Well, that's just because they just don't sell enough to continue.dbboxkaifan wrote:Anime and manga are badly treated in Portugal, for example, ASA's Astro Boy's manga was supposed to be coming out but it was cancelled, just like their Dragon Ball manga.
We are a long way from a market like the USA with hundreds of millions of people that also has a lot of potential for selling internationally because there are other english speaking countries out there and english is one of the most, if not the most, internationally recognized and understood language in the world.
And, despite this, there are still series and mangas and such being canceled in the USA. So, imagine in Portugal.

Do you think if this movie does well enough that we can get more films later on? It would be cool if we get a new film once a year or two.

As far as release schedule goes, I hope we just get one when a good story hits someone and not make it an annual thing like the video games.
If you're not here soon... GET ON!
Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
It all depends on the subject matter for me. That's why I really want to know something about this movie other than what era it's set in. I've actually been checking the Japanese Shounen Jump's website each week waiting for more news to pop up and I feel like I'm just going to be stuck waiting until some of the series that have movies further along in the way come out in theaters before they release any more updates.
I'm not even that picky about a news update; they don't even have to tell me who the bad guys are right away, I'd take a semi-vague statement about the plotline. At least something with just enough detail where I could theorize about it. Does this take place on Earth? Are we going to go out into space again? What about going to DB's afterlife or Dabura's realm? Will we go time-traveling?

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
I'd like to see this become a regular thing is they can at least keep the animation quality consistently good.
Assuming we get a new villain, I wonder what type it'll be. A Tachiki Fumihiko type or a Miyano Mamoru type?
Apparently I can't just say a 'grizzled' or 'young' type.
