I wonder if Hisada ended up drawing any Dragon Ball characters in that special...
Also kinda off topic, does anyone have any examples of Ide's art in One Piece?
Also when was it that One Piece's production was in a bad place?

The list of animators I would love to see pop up is so huge, but I'll just stick to people who have worked on super recently (including openings and endings).
Higashide, Tate, Otsuka, Watanabe Koudai, Inaba, Takahashi Yuya, Miuma, Manabe (more for his art), and Karasawa all come to mind.
Inaba and Miuma only showing up on one episode each for the Exhibition was peculiar, especially in Inaba's case since he only did corrections on an episode, no animation. Fingers crossed that's so that those two can deliver some nice stuff at the Battle Royale in a few weeks.
There's something wrong with that list, you forgot to include our savior Kitano,he is the best, have you seen Scooby Beerus
what a great list is that, but what about shimanuki

Sucks that the rough art in EP67 didn't get fixed. That's what I was hoping for the most out of the Blu-Ray/DVD release. Oh well.

Shimanuki's art can be great and I love him, but he's not on the top of my list for people I want to show up for the Battle Royale, not that him being there would be a bad thing.

Dream 9 Special: Takeo Ide played supervisor for pretty much all the Dragon Ball bits. If Hisada touched anything, it's never stuck out to me. The only two who seem to escape Ide's touch are Shimanuki and Shida.

      Takeo Ide:

Whole bunch of stuff scattered throughout the entire episode. Some of those are obviously corrections, but on the whole, it's not a bad representation of Ide's style.

Shimanuki does part of the clash between the three heroes:

I've only included close-ups here since the TV rip is absolutely horrendous making the action an artifact-filled mess, but you can see his distinctive timing easily.

I won't post Shida. Everyone knows what Shida's work looks like!

As for Ide's One Piece work - I looked at it the other week and didn't really see anything distinctive, I'm afraid.

Is it just me or does Ide's style go from bad to really good? I don't really see why he's a chief animation supervisor. They do stills right ? In that case, I feel like Shimanuki would be a better chief animation supervisor rather than an animation supervisor .

Yeah, I'm not quite sure how Ide has the position he has. Back on GT, his style had grown incredibly ugly, and it's only gotten worse over time. The big bulbous ears and overly manly jaws are now at odds with the large pupils and highlights of modern Dragon Ball. It's just this weird amalgamation of not very appealing things.

Once in a blue moon you get a gorgeous Ide shot that reminds you that he was once pretty great, but man, it's a real rarity.

I can only imagine it's just seniority and a long-time association with Dragon Ball.

I'm not gonna lie, I like a lot of Ide's corrections in Super, but I probably dislike just as many as I like.
I'd like to see more original art from him to see what his style is really like these days, it feels like he just does corrections in a weird way or something.

Ide Takeo is the head of the Toei Animator's Union. I imagine that wins you some power.

Tadayoshi Yamamuro's done a new illustration in this month's Animedia:

Of course Yamamuro would draw an eye-level and flat magazine spread.

      Okay, here we go:

      86 - Naoki Tate
      87 - Shuuichiro Manabe
      88 - Hiroyuki Itai
      89 - Hirotaka Nii

I'm sure Sodhi will do the rest. I'm too lazy!

Only one supervisor listed for each? Interesting.
Hopefully one of these is mostly a Wanpack episode and hopefully 89 is totally outsourced to Nii's studio.
Surprised to not see Ishikawa before Tate.

Skins highlights is really something I can't see how it improves the overall characters design. They should just get rid of that.
I look to other series and characters just look better without any of that.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

It's a way to add faux-detail into the image with relatively little drawback. However, it's almost never used well in this series, and really isn't suited to the palettes of modern Dragon Ball.

Sokabe Takashi is new to Super. We've sure been getting a lot of new storyboarders this arc, I like it.

Does the fact that there's only one supervisor for the upcoming episodes mean that the production is in a good place?
In any case, it's a shame that some of our big names are working on pre-tournament episodes. Hopefully not as much time is spent on them.

They don't always list all of the supervisors for an episode.
